I caught about the last 10 minutes of both yesterday (kitchen gadget segment) and today’s (film/tv) show. Brendan’s ridiculously over the top enthusiasm during both segments (his excitement at the ice cream maker yesterday for example and the reality tv recommendations today) were tough to listen to - they were akin to the fawning fluff you’d see in RSVP and VIP magazine. I assume he was taking the proverbial in both shows, but then again maybe he was genuinely that enthusiastic (maybe the RTÉ cheque arrived on Friday and he was still high on life from cashing it?) - if so, he’s really changed.

Glad I missed Vogue though!

I heard Scott Lucas for the 1st time this morning.

I really enjoyed his input. He is very knowledgeable.

He really isn't, not in a rounded way. He's incredibly biased which he really should not be. Anyway, he sounds like he knows what he's talking about which is all well and good until you realise he actually doesn't say much that amounts to anything mostly.

Larry Donnelly for example, is a much more credible and dispassionate analyst of U.S. politics.

That panel was the least diverse I think I've ever heard. I didn't notice any form of disagreement on anything until Brendan said about 35 minutes in, that two of them would have to agree to disagree on something - not even sure what it was. The "discussion" on LGBTQ rights was completely one-sided. O'Connor's attempt at redressing that, was the weakest I've ever seen from him and completely inadequate, giving free reign to Ailbhe Smyth in particular. It should have been put to her that the pushback LGBTQ people are getting at the moment is not far-right inspired hate, but legitimate criticism that has been suppressed for too long.

Did he not say something a bit more open to innuendo like “he’s playing his flute in public”? I was doing something else at the time and only half-listening but did think it was a rather unfortunate choice of words.

How does Clifford find time to do his real job? He's feckin everywhere on radio and TV.

Well he’s obviously not known to everyone, someone on one of the radio threads said they’d never heard him of him or hadn’t heard much of him previously which I found astonishing as he’s been on radio for at least 15 years.
