    You're lucky.

It's still a bit cool even during the day along the East coast and much of Dublin. And downright chilly at night.

The widespread sunshine and lack of rain is glorious though.

But hopefully we get a week or two of nice weather during actual summer too so that we can finally get some warm >20º days in Dublin.

The extended period of good weather here in Ireland is the result of a weather pattern known as an "Omega blocking high" which is two low-pressure systems trapping an area of high-pressure in a shape like the Greek letter Omega Ω

It forms when the jet stream is weak and meanders from north to south ending up with stationary high-pressure sandwiched between two low-pressure systems to either side.

High pressure is leading to low cloud, resulting in uninterrupted sun

    and increased heat.

And the best thing is that this period of warm weather will last until at least Friday next week

Nice copy and paste of the Met tweet without fixing their mess up on "high pressure is leading to low (amounts of) cloud" 😅.

I can't believe we're still tapping the 'Spring ' thread. It feels like midsummer already. I just hope 'Omega' doesn't pack her bags and head to spain for the actual summer.

Long time lurker here. How far are we realistically from a hosepipe ban? I've a new lawn and I've been turning on the sprinkler but my social conscience is kicking in and I've left it off the last few days but I am afraid the new seed will die off as it is very young.

I was in Dublin yesterday near the coast and it was noticeable a good bit cooler compared with home. Still nice though.

Pity we couldn’t get one of those omega blocks that’s favourable to cold weather during the winter months.

Another lovely morning. In all my time I can't remember a late spring like this. (Although I do forget what I did last week) The local countryside is simply stunning. Nature really showing off.

The vegetables in the garden are in survival mode.

Trying to keep them watered in morning and late in the evening but that easterly breeze is harsh and there's serious heat in the sun

Same. It actually feels like we're all living in Spain.😀 I'm due to go to Spain in a few weeks, won't want to leave here if it stays like this.

another lovely day in Meath, just a pity it's not a little bit warmer. It's 13C at the moment but feels warmer than that once in the sun, however the shade is still cool enough.

Shade areas very cool this morning. One of the cooler mornings perhaps but astonishing these widespread blue skies. Just beautiful. I do have to keep covered with my colouring: hats/spf and all that each day. Each day so unusual here.

Is West best? I think they are getting it warmer on that coast. Yip @Cluedo Monopoly I hear the turf cutting is taking place today in the West at my home location.

14 degrees under sunshine and blue skies Meath.

I did notice it was a bit nipper in Dublin this morning and cloudy I was like oh god we are in for some shock when this spell ends😁

Sun is out now again though so back to good stuff😎

22c again today and tomorrow here. Then high teens next week as winds shift North. Maybe the Omega gets shifted South and North and West see rain then and normal temps of 15c. Still 20c further South and East.

Consensus now is Slightly more unsettled from Thursday.

eastern half of the country should warm up early next week but it does look like normal service resumes from next Thursday leading to a more unsettled and cooler final week of May. Hopefully the Atlantic won't be back in business for too long and we get some nice periods of weather in June, July and August.

A fine morning for a run. Not much warmth in the morning time during this good spell. It gets a little warmer as the day goes on. I’d love a spell of some real heat.

I'm not complaining this sure beats the endless grey we seem to get. Enjoy the weekend 😎
