Irish born and bred but never in Dublin

I've never been to Dublin.

I've never been to Derry...I'd say there's loads of people in the north never been in Dublin, or even south of the border regardless of political views

I had an uncle who was a bachelor farmer from near Ballymahon, he'd never been to Dublin or ever travelled anywhere abroad his whole lifetime. I believe the furthest he ever managed within Ireland was Nenagh to visit relatives one time. He was quite the ticket, big man had a great big laugh but had a very narrow-minded view of the world, so set in his ways, church every Sunday, only ever listened to RTE radio 1, went to the cattle mart once a month, frequented the local pub where he drank Guinness with whisky chasers and would watch TV there (as he didn't have one at home). He'd eat bacon and cabbage with flowery spuds every day along with pints of unpasteurised milk from his own cows. (he'd never owned a fridge either). He died in 1985 aged just 54. He was such a genuinely friendly character, I really loved him like a second father. However, I do like to think most farmers nowadays are a lot more cosmopolitan than he ever was.
