Ya no worries all about comfort level at the end of the day. But if you have allready swapped the burners, the control valves is only one more nut at that stage.

If I was you I would email the issue to Woodies just as a heads up as the contract is with them under consumer law and should you go down the route of refunds Id imagine it would have to go through them at some point.

Best that they are at least in the loop dont want to leave it too long.

You could also go back to Weber to send out a Service Engineer or center locally somehwere.

So… loaded up the smoker box with some maple chips I got from the local garden centre, and have to say, makes the food definitely a lot more barbecue flavoured

Took a good 25 mins before the chips started to smoulder to be fair, but didn't bother me, once they were smouldering nicely I closed the lid and used indirect heating

Cooked some seasoned chicken thighs, and homemade burgers and I'm glad to report, a great result the chicken especially was flavoured with a nice smokey flavour, you could most definitely get the hickory taste, reminded me in hickory smoked bacon (unsurprisingly lol)

Oh and I'm using gas btw (the Weber in the OP) which has proven to be a very, very worthwhile bargain!

Have the Weber Q2000 from the deal in here. Didnt get to use it yet. in Shed. Where is best place to get gas for this and what gas to get. I had a gas canister for an old Superser which didnt fit. Any help Id appreciate it

All BBQs use the grey "patio gas" canisters now, you'll get them in most hardware shops, lots of petrol stations. The orange ones that you use for a SuperSer don't fit the connectors.

I’d actually be very happy if a service engineer came out - at least then I’d know it was being looked at properly -switched over the full 3 bars- I’ll test later and see if this has fixed it - thanks .

    BTW- how’s yours since?

Fair play- I tried using chips without the box a few years ago and all the smoke just drifted out and not onto the food - might go back and try again once this new BBQ is up and running

100% recommendation from me, the kids remarked that the chicken had a "bacon like flavour" to it.

I used hickory wood chips, so no wonder. (No idea why I typed "maple" earlier lol)

Maybe try apple wood. Hickory is quite strong for chicken imo. Same for mesquite and oak.

Cheers, I had no real clue what to be buying, and a Google search advised me that Hickory was a good all rounder. Amazon have loads of varieties to choose from so I might add apple to my basket later.

Wood smoke on a gas BBQ is a game changer in my view - you have the convenience and control ability of gas but with the taste of real BBQ - now to wait and see if my replacement burners are error free on my new Weber 😀

So far so good, fingers crossed.

One last one for you to try there is a chap who works for Weber you can find him on the BBQ Ireland facebook page .

if the drum is pretty full it might be worth your while just swapping out the regulator for a butane one

Does anyone have one of these “travel” BBQs to use as a main?
We’ve an old kettle charcoal and it needs replacing but I think I missed the boat on the “main” BBQ offers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 188 ✭✭Dave_D_Rave

I have the Q2200 bought last year for a €100 when that cashback offer was on. Hard to leave behind for that price but not sure I would splash the full amount for it.

Great little unit easily cook for a family of 4/5 on it.

B&Q & Woodies usually have good sales September time might get more value then.

Yeah I have the rectangle one - Amazon were doing a deal a few weeks ago- you could have got it 80 euro delivered on prime - I think they’re 120 right now- they were 100 last year

I’ve used mine about 150 times in the last 2 years - it’s brilliant - if only cooking for two it’s ideal - less fuel less time - 2-4 steaks depending on size - easy to store - I have mine on a raised height so easy to access - I’d totally recommend

You can get gas or charcoal - I have the charcoal version / but I have bigger charcoal BBQ and a gas BBQ too so if cooking for many I have lots of options - but for two cooking regularly it’s a no brainer

I spoke too soon fired this up last night for a 30 min cook and the misfire was back again in Burner 1 again.

Emailed to Weber to see what is the next step will take a few days to get a response; will update once I get a response.

Looking at the attached looks like they give the manifold out with all three control valves pre-assembled.

I started by the website as opposed to a direct email from Weber.

When you register your grill on the Weber website click on the grill icon and then select "File a Warranty Claim" this then send the query they get back to you by email.

The email they get back to you with is kind of weird includes your reference number of the ticket you have raised if that makes sense

    Hey Oscar,

Has your buddy had any success with Weber ?

They got back to me late last week and offered another set of burner tubes, when I questioned it they went a bit a quite.

Just wondering have you had any different outcome ?

    No response at all .

Did a cook at weekend - it was “ok”- key concern is burner1 going out on low heat - I think friend might just move on and live with it - the other two burners “behaved themselves and when all 3 on full there’s no issues as such

so if they do send out the metal gas taps or whatever they’re called- is that a screw off screw on job?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 188 ✭✭Dave_D_Rave

Looks to be basically pretty much same removal amount as last time and then discconnecting the main line that is attached to the manifold.

The control valves look to come complete on the manifold attached is a guide from Weber

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 810 ✭✭✭Akula

so I have the same heat set on all three burners. But not cooking as fast over burner 1. Anything I should be looking out for to confirm if the same issue as other people have been having?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 355 ✭✭EletricMan

Currently emailing Weber about the miss fire for the last twoish weeks. Response time is slow and the first video they requested wasn't good enough so I had to try and get another one which isn't easy to see in the day light.

So they are sending me out new burner tube kit but also offered a choice of a GBS accessory either a pizza stone or a griddle to say sorry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 295 ✭✭the_galway_fry

any offers or suggestions on a good griddle that could be used on a weber 57cm and possibly an induction hob as well?

Any sign of a bargain Weber barbecue on this thread or have the admins gone on holiday?

Yes I got the same offer - dusk is best time to do that -I assume burner 1 going out constantly and reigniting by burner 2 - and a whole lot of “spitting” going on if all 3 burners on at once ?

The above issue sorted for me with burner replacement but I’ll never be happy with burner one on low -(minimum) - it just goes out- saying that I use charcoal most of the time so this BBQ will just be back up or when I want to grill something quickly without having to set up the fire

Unless gas constantly going out/restarting and lots of spitting over the 3 burners, then no- have a read of the manual to see if there are cold spots - middle of the grill would be most hot with edges a bit cooler - what are you cooking? Do you have grills on low to medium for things like chicken wings as recommended?

I have a selection of Weber cast iron griddle pans and hot plates - o - I find them fine but I don’t use them much - they’re great for things like doing a big batch of onions to get them seriously reduced down for say French onion soup or where you don’t want the smell indoors - and doing prawns in garlic oil or roasting veg pieces - but after that my imagination hasn’t really gone any further so I wouldn’t buy them all again unless I had a clear purpose for them and know I’ll use them regularly .

Steaks for example just go right on the cast iron grill of the BBQ itself
