    Are the military not thick?

Seems they allowed a fascist demagogue to take power and **** all over the constitution they swore to protect

Defend their country against foreign and domestic threats like they swore to do

    Trump ticks both boxes

I wonder if there was another uptick in trade volume right before the China tarriff announcement. Being close to Trump is a massive opportunity for personal enrichment, regardless of how stupid his XOs get.

So a military coup to overturn the election results? Like Trump considered doing in 2020?

    Any connection?

    https://apnews.com/article/trump-qatar-deal-conflicts-saudi-arabia-emoluments-7379bee2e307d39bd43b534a05ae3207

The Trump family company struck a deal Wednesday to build a luxury golf resort in Qatar in a sign it has no plans to hold back from foreign dealmaking during a second Trump administration, despite the danger of a president shaping U.S. public policy for personal financial gain.

The project, which features Trump-branded beachside villas and an 18-hole golf course to be built by a Saudi Arabian company, is the first foreign deal by the Trump Organization since Donald Trump took office and unlike any done in his first term. Back then, he forswore foreign deals in an extraordinary press conference surrounded by stacks of legal documents as he pledged to avoid even the appearance of conflict of interest.

Probably drawing up an XO on this, put his sig on and FO to IRS on any tax issues.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 499 ✭✭poop emoji

He shouldn’t have been allowed in the first place for attempting a coup in January 6th

But if you want to ignore that ^
the the moment he plunged the US in constitutional crisis by ignoring the Supreme Court is another point he should have been jailed

So qatar are offloading a used Boeing with zero commitment or agreement to continue with buying Boeing.

Last year qatar signed a currency swap arrangement with China so comac planes would be an obvious use of their yuan reserves.

So the military are allowed decide who gets to be president? That usually works out well.

Trump may have done lots of stuff people disagree with but that doesn't give the army the right to remove him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 499 ✭✭poop emoji

They swore an oath to defend the constitution

If the senate and congress do nothing about constitutional violation as they should have then yes that leave the military as last line of defence against Nazis

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,519 ✭✭✭✭Peregrinus

The President is the commander in chief. The job of removing the President, if he is to be removed, is the job of Congress.

The army can't defend the constitution by violating the Constitution. There are lots of alarming things they might have to do to defend the Constitution — refusing to obey unlawful orders, for example — but mountin a coup d'etat is not one of them.

During Trump's last term wasn't their a Navy captain charged with mutiny for his decision to break from plan to save crew because of a COVID outbreak onboard?

Trump may be commander in chief but he's not god.

So he's back on the podium again. He is looking very yellow today. Wonder has he been tested for jaundice?? Or maybe he only counted to 2 Mississippi in the spray booth

Trump - little girls need to tighten their belts - have less pencils and dolls!

    Trump - accepts $400,000,000 airplane

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

Really rambling here today. It's actually scary that such high level discussion and decisions are interspersed with mindless drivel. And no-one can speak up to it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,088 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

Trump: "A friend of mine who is a businessman. Very very very top guy. Most of you would've heard of him. Highly neurotic. Brilliant businessman. Seriously overweight. And he takes the fat shot drug."

    Yep.... A "friend"

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

Do they have the authority to remove him? Cause if they don't then what do you suggest

There can't have been a worse press conference than this

Trump has the Dems well and truly cornered here on drug prices.

He seems to be suggesting he is going to be tying this in to the big tax cut bill thereby challenging the Democrats to vote against it and putting themselves on the record.

    Good stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 179 ✭✭Bocadilloo

Sounds like the EU will be paying higher drug prices to subsidise this order

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,980 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Another failure in the art of the deal by Trump. China did nothing, just say and waited, and saw Trump fold up like a deck chair.

Has it dawned on his supporters yet that he is just a clown in a suit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 286 ✭✭pad406

It still amazes me, though I'm not sure why at this stage, that he has the audacity to stand there and declare big wins on stuff that he either has no plan but a vague idea, or things that he broke in the first place.

It would be like me deliberately breaking one of the kids favourite toys just so I could say "Don't worry honey, Daddy will fix it. It'll be nearly as good as new when I'm done"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,784 ✭✭✭yagan

In the US the end user pays higher prices for drug because the for profit private health insurance companies will maximise the spread on what they pay the pharma at the factory gate and what they charge the end user. European and other nations have national procurement schemes that are not profit driven so that profit taking cost isn't there.

Pharma will go where the operating profit is and Trump hitting them rather than the insurance companies means that pharma will actually treat the US as a secondary market going forward, even if they're US registered companies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,686 ✭✭✭✭Penn

A big part of why prices in the US are so much higher is because there is no federal or centralised negotiation on prices; it's a free market. That doesn't happen in the EU or other areas, where prices are negotiated and agreed.

So the idea that prices in the EU will rise to accommodate the US's prices doesn't fully line up. Plus you then have so many of the pharmacutical companies who are based in the EU.

The US is free to negotiate their prices with these companies. That doesn't mean the companies can negate or just pass on those costs to other countries.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,801 ✭✭✭threeball

And means any incentive they may have had to return to the US is gone too. There's no coherent strategy from this clown. Most of it is just noise to cover the corruption happening in the background. We'll really see just how weak the US is in 2028 if there is an election and not a single member of this administration will go to prison.

USA's global image plummets under Trump administration

The image of the USA in the world has significantly deteriorated. Under Donald Trump's administration, the United States is now viewed similarly to Russia and is perceived much worse than China, according to a global survey by the Anders Fogh Rasmussen Foundation.

    • Democracy Perception Index: The survey was conducted in 100 countries, showing a decline in the positive image of the USA from 76% to 45%.
    • Leaders Assessment: U.S. President Donald Trump is viewed negatively in 82% of the countries surveyed, which is a poorer result compared to Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping.
    • Defence priorities: In 86 countries, the most important action is strengthening international partnerships, while in Ukraine, the priority is developing nuclear weapons.

How has the image of the USA changed?

According to the survey published by the Anders Fogh Rasmussen Foundation, the image of the United States in 2025 has significantly worsened. The democracy perception index shows that the USA is perceived negatively at minus 5%, a significant drop compared to plus 22% in 2024.

The USA's image is now comparable to Russia, which stands at minus 9%, and significantly worse than China, which has achieved plus 14%.

Trump rated worse than Putin and Xi

President Donald Trump is viewed negatively in 82% of the countries surveyed, which is considerably worse than the figures for Russian President Vladimir Putin (61%) and Chinese leader Xi Jinping (44%).

The study highlighted that 85% of countries support adhering to international laws and agreements, even if it limits their freedom of action.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

So yet another off the top of his head vague idea from Trump that he has no idea of how it would be implemented or what the consequences would be.

Just the usual bluster from him when yet another of his bluffs have been called.

This time it`s due to China calling check, then sitting back showing how weak his hand of cards were watching him fold like a cheap tent.
