Thought Milne was quite good, he bring’s a bit of ball carrying power to the front row that we don’t have much of.

If we could fix the lineout, we could be very competitive in the playoffs.. but it just feels irreparable this season, and the coaches are encouraging quick throws to the 1 to retain possession. I sort of hope Codling doesn’t get the forwards coach next season. I know he’s been strongly rumoured, but I think it would be better for McMillan and the team to get a new forwards coach in with fresh approach. Understand Codling was thrown in temporarily, but he’s had a few months here and I don’t thinking he’s coaching these forwards at a high enough level.

Anyway, positive result today. Looking forward to see more of Kilgallen on dry turf, think there’s a good player there.

Hard to disagree re Codling. The only thing is, there'll be no hiding or excuses if he's permanent and still failing.

From a Munster perspective it's job done. Against a woeful Ulster side it has to be said. I thought some of Munster's signings looked quite good - the likes of Milne, Farrell, Kilgallen and Beirne.

Well, while our lineout is still an issue we got the maximum points from the game and sent Ulster home with nothing.

You got to feel for Kilcoyne watching 3 legends of the club leave on their terms but he being injury forced to retire and go without the fanfare. What an achievement by Archer over 300 games for Munster and being one of the key players in us winning the URC two seasons ago, I'm delighted for the guy and he's not done yet 💪

comically bitter comment… you could pass for a munster fan..

good chance that munster can go all the way again this year..

injured players coming back at the right time.

Andy just told Sam he's not good enough..

Crowley is always angry and leinster players probably don't want to get injured for the lions tour..

I'm gonna bite so an actual Munster fan doesn't have to....its very petty to post in the manner you did.

I was just looking at the URC table there, it's still massively congested....next week is another knock out game. Looked like we came through last night with no injuries thankfully.

Speaks to the calibre of Munster’s coaching and recruitment 😉

I was hoping it would be ignored and dealt with by those who can, but fair play to you. Huge Respect

We currently sit in 5th ahead of Cardiff, Stormers and Scarlets who will all overtake us today if they win and put us into 8th

Then if Benetton or Edinburgh, or both, win today they could potentially overtake us next weekend should we fail to win. If either team lose today they won't be able to overtake us next week

Best case for us is losses for the above 5 teams today

    what he posted was factual.

Not sure what the problem is?

If I reply to this to inform you factually what he was doing I'll be warned so I'll leave it there.

The Stormers should beat Dragons easily.

The Bulls should beat Cardiff, hopefully without giving them any bonus points.

Scarlets away to Lions shouldn’t win that one, but it’s possible.

Benetton could beat Glasgow but hopefully they won’t. Glasgow are fighting for a home semi-final.

We need Connacht to beat Edinburgh.

All in all, this will be a very interesting day of rugby.

Ideally Bulls beat Cardiff, Lions beat Scarlets, Glasgow beat Benetton and Connacht beat Edinburgh.

However unlikely, but ideally we could finish 6th and face Glasgow in 3rd,

And then if we got lucky we’d have whoever was 7th beat the 2nd placed team and that would give us a home semi-final.

Yeah out of Leinster, Bulls, Glasgow, Sharks, probably Glasgow is the favourable away trip. Though we’ve won in Pretoria before, and should have beaten them a few weeks ago. Wouldn’t fancy a trip to Durban tbh, they are hot and miss, but we’ve had a couple of bad defeats there when they e got all their internationals together.

I think Edinburgh will do to Connacht what they did to us, hope I'm wrong.

I also think that none of the Welsh teams will pick up wins away in SA, all their opposition (bar Lions) are fighting for something in the table

A fan's view of that try

Look at how much DOC enjoyed it ♥️

To be factual I'm not being soft, I (like other posters) actually recognise the post for what it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,041 ✭✭✭irelandrover

What was the point of the post? It's purely to antagonise Munster fans. Why come into a Munster thread and say it was a good win but the opposition were ****.

The poster knew exactly what they were doing.

Maybe not but max they can get to, is 45, we're on 46 as of last night so they can't catch us, if they get through then we're definitely through.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,346 ✭✭✭Jump_In_Jack

The point I was making was Lions still have something to fight for so they won’t give an easy ride to Scarlets like Leinster did.

Was a great evening in Thomond, super atmosphere especially around POM and Archer when they got the ball.

POM rolled back the years, I reckon he could do another season in a reduced role still. That try was worth the entry fee alone and he could have had one earlier but unselfishly made the pass.

Milne was great in the scrum but had tits for hands outside of it. Like the look of him though. Tom Farrell has been a wonderful signing.

What a cameo from Tom Aherne. Casey was tigerish and strikes me as the sort of fella who might drive standards like POM does. Jack had a couple of wobbles off the tee, one was because there was only 5 secs left on the clock, they were messing with the ball after every try and the ref reset the clock eventually for one of them. Both half backs has a super second half.

Thought the ref let a few things go (high tackles mainly) but had a good game.

Lineout was a disaster but a bit of perspective - we lost our headcoach midway through the season and am I right in saying our lineout coach has been away too? Need to keep it simple if we want to go deep in the competition.

Great buzz around the ground after!

Tom Farrell has rightly got loads of praise for his play offensively with his try-scoring and offloading, but I thought he was also excellent in defence last night. Couple of important jackals and some big tackles too. Has really exceeded expectations.

Casey is future captain material, imo. Relatively unusual for a scrum-half but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get it after Beirne.

Also, Kilgallon can shift too, very exciting. Dunno how Connacht let him and Farrell go

statistically this is the worst Ulster in history. The play like it to. Ulster as a province has over twice the amount of schools playing rugby as Leinster, and up until 2017 had produced more lions players than them, & significantly more than Munster.

The whole thing has went to **** since about 2015.

this is a dreadful Ulster side… our worst in history.
