Civil Service Travel & Subsistence rates are tax free and can be a nice earner to offset the travelling and being away from home for a few days.

That's good to hear . How theprocess works This part feels so long. I'm just waiting for my garda vetting to be processed .

I'm really looking forward to starting but nervous after 30 years in the County Council.

Hi all, I was just wondering does anyone know if there is any scope for a different location than the one you have been offered? As it really doesn't suit me.

Also, my Garda Vetting took over 10 days, but once that came through I was asked could they contact my referee (Friday) and I was offered a position today. Best of luck to everyone out there waiting.

    Are you ok?

You've been quiet for a few days.

    Did you get the job?

Hi I was hoping for some information. I interviewed for executive officer and placed 70 in batch six.. I'm not sure what this means. Should I expect an offer or is this not likely my location is dublin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 Joanmkenny

To be honest, no one really knows for sure. Depends how quickly they get through everyone ahead of you. I recommend getting ur 2-3 referees ready, list all places you've lived and when (dates) for the Garda vetting form. Once you get email for next stage you will be quicker at filling it all in. Best option for now, email Public Jobs and ask what number theyre at at the moment. They are in batch 6 so it could be soon. Stay positive

Hi I thought I would update people so I have asked and I'm on batch 6 at 70. There are on batch 6 with 30 ahead of me but the competition is still set to close on the 30th of June. It's gonna be close

Nah, i didn't, losing hope by the day, unless it gets extended

Is there anyone, like me, in the 1700s (400s Interd) on this thread feeling hopeful of an extension?

Hi all, I interviewed for Offaly on 28th April, no results yet, has anyone else heard anything? The slowness of the process is a killer.

I’d like to know this also. They have my location preferences on file but I’m not sure if these are ever taken into account to be honest. I’m waiting for Garda vetting to come through at the moment.

I’d like to know also when you get your start date and exact location because I wouldn’t feel right about handing in my notice in work until I had a location I was happy with. Can they extend the start date if this is the case?

My Garda Vetting came back this week and they want to contact reference. Like you I’m so uneasy moving forward without knowing where I’ll be offered. I asked if they could give me a timeline for further movements and keep saying they have no idea where people will be placed nor are they involved in department allocations.
    Sorry it’s not better news.

when you say you put in 2 locations - do they ask you at some stage what locations within your chosen county you would like?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 137 ✭✭Mytimetoshine22

Apart from OOM - what score did people get who are being interviewed. My total score was 1250 (give or take). But not called yet. Wondering about the effect of geography on how far your total score will get you.

I had a score of 1297 total and was interviewed about 4 weeks ago for Mayo region. Not sure how that compares but obviously dependent on number of vacancies in the region.

Hi all, I’ve been assigned a role in the Department of Justice, pending additional security clearance. Can anyone share what the next steps are and the timeline for them? Thank you!

    Ps: I’m Dublin btw

    Hi All,

Just wondering about the pre clearance declaration? Do PAS contact your reference without letting you know after submission and is the garda vetting after that?

Do they preform these checks in anticipation of a position or just to have you ready for next available post?

    Thanks

They will contact your referees once the Garda vertting is done

I was asked to give reference details and complete garda vetting forms. My references came back quickly so just garda vetting now so just depends on which comes back first.

As soon as you email your references assume your referees will be contacted soon after. It all depends what comes back quickest as to what you're waiting for!
