Thanks for that. That's incredibly slow for such a large county...

Has anyone been allocated the Department of Justice - if so, where have you been told you will be based?

Each batch is about 100 ish, so you should definitely get an interview

when being assigned a position within a department , do they automatically give you the location of the department? For example I have locations I would ideally like to commute to but others I wouldn’t be happy with the commute as much.

How are you supposed to accept a role when you don’t know if they location is 10 mins or 90 minutes commute away for childcare aspect etc?

For my CO role they just gave the dept then a few weeks later the office and location.

You can email them and let them know you have a preference for a specific area based on your commute. They will tell you that they can't guarantee you getting a specific location but that they will add it to your file. I was told that I would be based in Dublin 1 or 2 when I mentioned wanting to be within a certain distance due to commute.

Anyone have any experience with working in OPW - Dublin castle specifically? What's the vibe like/dress code?

Did interviewers ask any interesting/unexpected questions? If you don't minde asking.

Hey no there was nothing that threw me it was just a long interview and make sure you have an example for each capabilty and sub set .They introduce each capabillity which is really helpful .

How long does the Vetting take approximately and when is it expected after Vetting to receive a start date? Thanks

I interviewed this morning, it was a very hard interview i would say have mutilple examples for communication, collabration and leadship.

I was questioned on Ai in the civil service whuch threw me.

Vetting was the longest part of the process since getting through the interview. Mine took about 2 weeks. Once that was done though it moves quite quickly - they will ask then if it's ok to contact your references. Once the reference gets back they will offer you the position the same day (in my experience).

The internal for DOJ seems to be moving at some pace tests 2 weeks ago, results last week, and interview dates for May having all been issued this week. They must need a good bunch in that department.

Hi does anyone have a rough idea how long the clearance/ vetting process usually is? I’m already a Civil Servant (CO) and my number has been reached on the interdepartmental panel, have sent off my self declaration which mentioned garda vetting etc. I just remember it taking a good few weeks back in 2020 when I had it done previously. I’m a bit impatient to get out of my current role as I’ve been twiddling my thumbs going on months now due to a very quiet period in the office, itching for some work now 😅 😂

    Hi,

Has anyone gotten an offer that didn't suit and had any success in getting another offer? I was offered a role in Dublin that's on the Southside but as I'm commuting from Meath I was hoping for city centre :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 Nkusadasi

thank you , I’ve emailed them with my preference and yes they’ve confirmed that they’ll add it to my file but majority of the roles will be in Dublin 1 or 2

13th March, informed I passed stage two, placed no 8 on OOO.... following day sent eligibility details and haven't heard zip since! Very disheartening to have to wait so long in limbo and not know if a job will even materialise from it!

Does anyone know what wfh looks like with the revenue audit, tax and compliance team?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76 ✭✭is that a button

My friend works in same role. She works 2 days in office & 3 days from home. On wfh days, she has to be logged on during "core hours" & this is monitored so you have to remain active on the computer. If you are inactive for long periods apparently it triggers a notification to the AP. She said a newbie on her team got caught with this before & received a warning. Work is generally busy as audits were paused during covid so teams are still playing catch up. Depending on your dept, location, etc the role may involve a good deal of travel as you are assigned to assist with onsite audits which can involve travelling all over the country. Overnight stays (often up to 2-3 days) are frequently required when doing audits in other counties but the AP will arrange accommodation, etc & expenses incurred are generally reimbursed. She has travelled throughout Ireland with this role & she is EO. Usually an audit team will also include an AO & an AP. Most of the time, the team travels together. Overall it sounds like a really good opportunity.

Heard that the HEO campaign is massively behind so they are concentrating on that, thats why the EO campaign has now slowed down and both campaigns are expected to have deadlines extended.
