If the high is returning then a drop of rain wouldn't go astray........

I did a glacier hike in the south of Iceland yesterday and the very low cloud base made it quite atmospheric, even if it limited views. I'm happy to see fine weather returning to Ireland, although your high pressure has pushed the jet stream to up here, so a lot of cloud is being dragged in from the Atlantic. There's even a yellow warning for wind and snow tomorrow, which is underwhelming for May but May snow will at least be a novelty for me if it comes to pass.

Yeah that was exactly it, I remember because I was let go from work at the end of May due to Covid and had another job lined up to start at the end of August so I was looking forward to a few months off to get some big projects done, weather broke about 2 weeks after and never recovered, it was a waste of the time off! Hopefully this isn't a repeat of the same. It is disappointing to see that the weather is to break again Sunday. Even though this spell of weather has been overall great, the weekends have been disproportionally poor overall which is frustrating.

Yeah, That's it. Everyone loving it. Buying hot tubs like no tomorrow, covid, no work, just sit out the back all day. April and may were brilliant. Then came June and it was sh1te for the rest of the summer.
Myself and my partner were kind of lucky, worked all the way through it.

So the grass is starting to get frayed and yellow round the edges in Sligo with the continuous sun this week. The situation is severe for next 10 days bar Sunday and even then some areas will miss rain. Here's the soil moisture anomaly for mid May
