I think the most corporate theyve got is working alongside Fest Republic/Belvin Menn. That was down to licensing challenges etc. Once the superfence concept was proven to work there was no need for them anymore and Mick E told Belv to beat it over a decade ago.

Corbyn was shown live on BBC and a clip is still on their site.

You talking about Killdren? A UK punk band with 138 social media followers who had an argument with the runners of a tiny stage in Shangri-La (Shangri-Hell International TV Stage) in 2019 and got dropped. A 2am set that nobody cared about and they blamed the organisers who had no idea who they were. Tried to drum up some manufactured outrage but got nowhere.

The much more prominent Fat White Family called for Tory MPs to be hanged. Press complained. FWF played the Park stage the same year, 2019.

And we probably agree on most things re the fest and music. Definitely on Kneecap playing.

Melvin and other Live Nation people have been back on Glastonburys board of directors since 2022.

bbc do have considerable say over Glastonbury. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement. The bbc coverage is major selling point and Glastonbury go out of their way to placate them in terms of artists contracts, scheduling and resources.

Melvin has been the licencee for Glastonbury for last two decades, he only relinquished that for 2025, though he just handed it over to festival republic parent company. So he still has involvement in it, just less day to day

Nah, the BBC is in a pretty weak position. They only have the contract as the Eavises want the event broadcast free-to-air. If they rock the boat that may change and the BBC is fully aware that they're getting it at a price far lower than competitors would pay.

What has Glasto done to placate the BBC that's out of the ordinary for a festival?

Is the bbc iplayer app now available in Ireland?? I'll be out on the Saturday so can't watch it live but would be great to catch the highlights on bbc iplayer.

UK broadcast rights still apply for iPlayer I believe so you'd need a VPN at a minimum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 550 ✭✭✭TenPicnics

No it isn't available to us in Ireland unless you find a way by VPN. But the BBC is pretty good at spotting VPN use and blocking you. Many of us in Ireland would be happy to pay for the BBC iplayer but so far no joy, it's geo-blocked for licence/copyright reasons.

I watch it all the time. Nord, Tunnelbear or Proton premium servers (Which I use now) work great. Watched 60+ hours of the snooker on it and didnt even buffer once. HD goodness all round.

NordVPN still able to bypass them, i've been through 3 or 4 providers over the last few years and thats the last man standing for me.

For anyone that uses sounds, they're supposed to be region locking that too soon so it's gonna have to be vpn and browser access only.

found a Chinese site last year that had a lot of the glasto sets up on it after they'd be uploaded to iplayer. might be of use if you cant get a vpn for iplayer

Apart from the 1975 the only band I would like to see headline is Mumford and Sons. And hope their gig would be mostly their 3rd album. Mostly others sucks now.

They’ve started posting tickets according to people on efestivals.

The last time I went was 2022 and there was a whole hassle with posting to Ireland. I have heard it's been fine the last couple of years, but I will be happier when I see it in my hands.

In 2022 they weren't going to post to Ireland. I sent a legal letter to See Tickets and stated that they'd broken their conditions by charging people in the Republic for postage with no intention of honouring that. They then agreed to post my ticket and thus a precedent was set.

I informed people on Boards who contacted them and the tickets were sent out. If you didn't get in touch then they'd probably have not bothered and left it at the gate. I just didn't want the extra hassle of trying to find tickets on my way in when I'd rather be looking for a camping spot.

I was one of those in 2022 sweating it out waiting for campervan and festival tickets to arrive in the post at home in Dublin before heading to the Rosslare ferry, and I will be eternally grateful to the Glastonbury regulars on here for crucial advice on that and on Glastonbury in general.

Thanks for the effort. I got in touch alright, had them switch it over to be posted as soon as it was clear they would do that. They just didn't post it in time. Out of our group that year I think one person managed to get it sent and I think it arrived on the Friday before the festival. Mine was still marked as despatching coming into the weekend and it was clear it wasn't getting posted, so I had them switch it to pick up as I was flying out Tuesday. Was an hour and a half in the queue to get it from the box office in the cooking hot sun. A woman in front of me was using my shadow for shade. Utter pain.

Looking forward to hearing that people have received them.

Ticket arrived this morning. I can replace my anxiety about receiving it with anxiety about not losing it now.

"Did I leave i behind the clock? Where's the clock? Oh, it's still above the fireplace. What if I light a fire? Where's my passport? I know it's on the shelf there. I renewed it last year. That enough? Do I still look like my photo? Aaaaaaggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!"

Nah, now we are all members of WW

    Weather Watchers.

I see they've come to their senses and moved Weezer out of the Woodsies tent in the evening, now on the Other Stage in the afternoon.
Father John Misty added to the Woodsies lineup.

Now everyone is googling "Patchwork Glastonbury"…. Hoping for another "Churnups" and eyeing that (very short) TBA Pyramid slot before Alanis Morrisette.

Ticket also arrived. With today's exchange rate that's €449 so we kinda deserved to get them early.

Circa 6//7 clashes with Neil Young but otherwise good. Sunday could be the best day for acts - Am liking West Holts, Pyramid & Glade that afternoon/early evening,

Smart to move Weezer to the Other, but why not Kneecap, they'll draw a mental crowd?

I'm not going, don't know why I'm tormenting myself looking at the lineup 🤣

This run on the BBC Introducing stage on Friday looks like great fun...

    LAMBRINI GIRLS 18:30 - 19:00

    ALT BLK ERA 19:30 - 20:00

    TBA 20:30 - 21:00
