Do you honestly think that Trump or any of his hand picked advisors have the least clue what is happening in the world? He has mentioned WW3 a couple of times, but he has also gone on and on about Canada being the 51st state, about how he is an expert on everything, about every other country taking advantage of the US, and innumerable other notions that have flitted through the mush that is his brain, do we take all those seriously too?

Do you genuinely think that Trump is capable of the foresight that would be needed to prepare for anything beyond his own wealth and ego?

Apparently he's going to announce that the Persian Gulf is now to be known as the Arabian Gulf. So just sh*t stirring really.

Maybe he'll declare war on that penguin island because they're so mean to him.

You are aware of Project 2025? It’s much bigger than just Trump

Sycophantic is what I call Stephen Miller over his praising Trump after Trump met Carney… a grandmaster at chess, has opened a completely new relationship with Canada because of his strength and his diplomacy….

Another way of looking at this…

The US has involved itself in nearly every war in the world since before WW1, mostly for profiteering. And the world has not been the better for it, bar the two World Wars where there was no profit to be gained from it.

Maybe the US stepping aside out of the way, it gives other countries a chance to, you know, negotiate based on trade instead of picking a side and flooding it with weapons.

China, for all their numerous faults, have basically own Africa, and they didn't need to fire a shot. They used trade and investment to stabilize where they got their money from, and for the most part it has worked peacefully. Despite their military might, they've never came close to attempting to start a war on a country for any reason since WW2, and what wars they have fought were territorial disputes formed from old Chinese empires going back thousands of years.

If that was the US in Africa, they'd have emptied a load of weapons to one side, and mopped up what they could after a decade of bloodshed.

Maybe without the Manifest Destiny mindset being heaped on the world, the world might actually be more peaceful than a country who's first attempt at diplomacy is war.

I can't believe that Biden has allowed Pakistan and India to escalate the conflict in Kashmir to the point of military action.

If only Trump was in the office, none of this would be happening.

A good post - whatever they’re up to, it’s not good for the world, that’s certain

China ...

The difference is that the American empire is only a few hundred years old. For all their Silicon Valley technology and putting men on the moon, they're still a primitive society compared to the Chinese or the Arabs or the Europeans.

The USofA has become a giant real-life "what if" experiment in parallel reality, still rooted in beliefs and practices from the Middle Ages. When I first saw the movie Avatar, I was struck by the notion that in this futuristic Americanised world, they would still be fighting wars on the basis of meatwave attacks (now who'd do such a thing in this day and age … )

Trump is obviously still living somewhere in the 1950s, and to an extent, I think that is what appeals to so many voters in the US. They are still there too, enjoying the post-WW2 prosperity that we Europeans paid for.

They still have an awful lot of growing up to do, as a nation.

The problem with an extremely distracted and probably dementia POTUS is that old conflicts can erupt into outright war as all sides take the chance that POTUS is more likely to wash his hands of it rather than take a side. Except for Israel and Russia who have a lock on his attention.

Was the Carney/Trump meeting broadcast from the Oval Office?

What kind of tasteless wh**e's boudoir has he turned it into?

24 hours? I thought it was one phone call such was the respect Trump commanded in the world.

    You mean it was nonsense?

Yeh but has either India or Pakistan showed up in a suit to whitehouse and said thanks yet?

I just looked back on the entire Oval Office press conference between Carney and Trump yesterday - it was 35 minutes long and not many of those minutes were anything whatsoever to do with Carney or Canada. Most of it was Trump fielding questions about US domestic policy. Whatever you think about Trump's policies (even if you assume there are some), the lack of simple common manners when hosting a world leader at the White House is atrocious!

You're talking about Trump and MAGA. Manners is not their forte. Insults, insular ignorance and bullying is the order of the day.

Yes, but domestic US matters would be of great interest to the governor of the 51st US state

It's okay. He'll send Vance to meet their leaders and they will be deceased within 24 hours. No more fighting.

They are saying that the announcement will be that the US will from now on refer to the "Persian Gulf" as the "Arabian Gulf".

So you know , huge impactful stuff that makes the world a safer and better place.

Persian cats are, presumably, the next in line to be targeted.

With a bit of luck he might watch "The Apprentice" but his ego could not take it, probably wolfwhistle at himself at giving Ivana one on the staircase at Trump Tower, even though there was a lot like Jean Carroll stuff going on.

Maybe he's announcing a contest for his next apprentice now that Musk has been spat out.

Well I dont speak for the majority, but from what I can see getting thrown out of White House is not a good look.

Especially when he went to the White House looking for support. Im not here to change any ones mind but its clear its a very anti Trump form.

"Im not here to change any ones mind but its clear its a very anti Trump form."

I'd be delighted to hear from you reasons why this particular administration isn't a complete f**king dumpster fire and why he isn't the most unfit president the US has ever had.

Throwing a head of state out of the White House suggest disrespect on the part of the Trump administration, rather than the reverse.

And yes, most of the responses here will be anti-Trump, no one is embarrased to admit it. At least the antis have evidence on their side of the argument, unlike the pro side; we have been waiting for years for a coherent argument about positive aspects to Trump and his administration.

Please, give us a rundown of some of the things we should be praising him for.

Is the usual "Just wait and you'll see" justification not enough?! (/S)

The reason you don't speak for the majority is that anyone paying attention can see it was an ambush. They had MAGA plants in the audience.

They didn't give a crap what Zelensky wore, that is just being duped by the lies put out by Trump to "justify" the ambush. It was a pretext not a real reason. That is proven by Trump giving a warm reception to other leaders in the White House… without regard to what they were wearing. This is the same Trump wore a bright not sombre blue suit to the Papal funeral.
