    Only three years late...

France's former interior minister has apologised for the first time for the 2022 fiasco at the Stade de France which saw Liverpool football supporters wrongly blamed for a riot.

Conor Bradley is great, but he's Irish, so he'll work for peanuts like Kelleher and get used only when needed.

If he was Bessi Bradaldo he'd be signed up for 250k a week.

    Bradley is still very unproven.

Very talented lad, but hasn't proven himself as robust or capable of playing a series of games yet. Hopefully he does, and when he does he'll get his payday, but he needs to prove himself yet in my view. We need more cover at RB then just Conor.

You'd expect Alsono to play Trent as a wingback, rather than a straight forward right back

"We were expecting a war of (football) hooligans"

Why the fúck were they expecting that? Merseyside police had already briefed them

It's clear from early in the day (I was in Paris and assume you probably were too) that they were prepped to police Liverpool fans aggressively, but I still don't understand why and this apology (which is welcome even if late because Darmanin said a lotof untruthful things that week), still doesn't explain how they got this aspect wrong

He's basically saying we prepared for the wrong thing - yup - but doesn't say why....

It's a half arsed passing the buck apology. It was those pesky delinquents robbing people that caused it don't you know..

As the poster above said, those police were itching for it. A truly terribly organised event.

There's a young player coming through the academy that is a better prospect than Alexander-Arnold.

Timing of this announcement is funny, I'm sure Trent didn't want to have to say he was leaving, when he still has to face the fans. Club must have told him, you say it, or we will .

Thank you trent for your time at Liverpool, great times, unbelievable achievements and best of luck in the rest of your career. Don't listen to any of the crap

Even if that is true, I doubt he will give us what he did going forward.

His name is Lenix Conde, he's 17 years old, has quick feet, explosive pace and incisive passing.

There are a few very talented players in the under age teams that will filter through to the first team squad in the next few years.

Don’t have any ill will towards Trent at all tbh.

Carra is right when he says Liverpool wouldn’t have sold Trent under contract and Madrid probably wouldn’t have bought him in those circumstances - they have moved to a strategy of dealing with players instead of clubs, which makes things a lot more straightforward for them as long as they can wait. And Trent would have known that the window in his career to play for Real is a very small one, so best of luck to him.

I do think it will be a whole new level of pressure for him though. New team for the first time in his career in a new country with the most demanding fans in the world, and coming into them off the back of a very poor season by their standards. There will be no bedding in time, he will need to perform from the off. Any defensive mistakes will be criticised far more than they were here. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

    It is interesting.

On one hand the balls he could play to Mbappe and Vini could make them an absolute joy to watch, on the other, without dedicated DMF support he could be exposed.

You sense this won't be an issue for 14 or 15 of the La Liga fixtures but then again Real fans don't give you much kudos for winning those.

It's a big change for him. Lots of pressure and a new language.

hey ChatGPT, how do you say "stop saving chat" in Spanish?

Hope we rinse Real for €10million if they want Trent early for the Club World Cup!

I don't think that is true. If a player has a conversation with the club that they would like to move I do not think we will stand in their way. It will then be up to the team the player has been in contact with to come up with an appropriate bid for us to accept the transfer. Him singing a longer contract in 2021 would not have stopped him moving to Madrid this summer if that is what he wanted to do.

Some rumblings that Wolves are interested in Elliott. I'd hate to let him go but couldn't blame him if he wants out after this season, Slot doesn't seem too interested in him anyway. If we're dealing with Wolves I'd hope we at least try to get Ait Nouri going the other way.

He gave an interview with the Echo in which he makes it pretty clear he wants to stay, so hopefully he does...

"You never know what is going to happen around the corner. If I had it my way, that would be here, I would play each and every game here and stay here for the rest of my career but it all depends on managers, the people above and as I said you don't know what could happen but as far as I am aware I am here, here to stay and this is the club I want to be at.

"Hopefully I am still here to be honest. It is the best place to be, the best club to be at and especially having the fans around us at the moment, I don't think there is a better place to be playing.

"Players go through ups and downs but at the end of the day you have to come out fighting and I think it is within myself to make it happen. So hopefully I can stay here for the rest of my career."

Yeah, be mad to turn down a fee like that.

Thing could be worth 100m to them so happy to play hardball

I'd keep Elliot unless someone wants to to pay a crazy price

Thought that was Brendan Rodgers !?! or that's where I remember it from

Maybe he said it too, but I remember it from extracts from Bellamy's autobiography. He'd slate someone he had had a run in with during his career, but then end the paragraph with "I wish him well". But it's quite possible I'm misremembering!

It's going to be hard to keep someone Slot won't give any minutes to when we need reinforcements.

In theory, Nunez, Trent, Endo, Elliott, Kostas, Kelleher (not even incl Chiesa/Jota) could all be on the way out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,023 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

The gas thing is Madrid spoke to Trent and his camp and likely told them yes we would like to sign you but we're not actually going to pay any money for you so you had better run down your contract and we'll pick you up. Of course you'll have to string your boyhood club along for 18 months or so but that's just the price you have to pay to join us.

Elliott is like a kid playing football, suppose to be in one position, but chases and run down the ball, left, right, centre, front, back, Salah on the other hand is always ready in his position to pounce, to come alive.

Every time Elliott plays you can see him trying too hard, always out of position, always chasing the ball like a Jack Russell. He needs to chill de fck out , stop doing things as 100 mph . Salah is his mentor, so I can't understand why he can't learn.

Real in real danger of becomes PSG of last 10 years, filling team with big egos, and never having a team. PSG had the luxury of winning league titles in that time, but even that will be difficult for Real if they can't build a team, Barca at the moment have a team, I could only name two, not household names, but a great team at the minute.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,684 ✭✭✭Talisman

Rumour has it that Wolves are willing to pay the best part of £50m on him from the proceeds of the sale of Cunha. I don't think Richard Hughes will say no to that kind of money for a player that does not appear to fit in the plans of the man picking the team.

Was putting a lick on paint on Anfield a mistake in hindsight , considering all the new and fantastical stadiums other PL clubs have build, or are in the process of building.
