You should be able to order it from amazon.de A bit more expensive, different vat rate I guess.

    Sorry that's the Luba mini.

We got a Luba 3000 last autumn and set it up and got a few cuts before the end of the growing season. We kept it in the shed over the winter but left the docking station in place. Since we’ve taken it out again there seems to be an issue with the boundaries that were mapped, it falls off kerbs and attempts to cut areas that had been avoided before where we had mapped septic tank, plants etc. Has anybody else had this issue? Is it likely to be a problem with the satellite signal? Do people generally have to re map their area at the start of every growing season? Thanks!

From what I can see it's recommended to remap every growing season.

If the mapping is off as much as you describe, your RTK antenna must have moved slightly over winter. Delete your mapping area & start again.

looking for something to cut about 1,000 Sqm. The terrain is mossy and in parts might be a bit rough. Was thinking about the Luba Mini AWD 1500 and it seems pretty good value at €1600 from Amazon.de.

Anyone have any experience with it, everything else seems to be €2K plus with the exception of kress who seem to be trying to move old wired stock……as they are German, I’m assuming they are well engineered, but their run time seems very short?

Segway seem expensive, same with Husq…….appreciate any comments.

If your RTK has not moved then, try doing a firmware update.

It really does seem like a very good machine, I very nearly bought the Luba 2 last year but it it was just to much money I decided for a new model. The price tag on the Mini is much more palatable.

Very impressed with what it copes with in this video, my lawn was never in the best nick. It's mosey, clayey and uneven, cattle getting in on it a few years ago really didn't help. Back garden is in bits now after building work. Probably won't have the budget to fix it properly this year. Needs a lot of topsoil to level it. Probably will just do a patch job for the moment.

Think I will pick up the Mini AWD, will still have front garden to maintain though I will have to lift it over to one side occasionally as I don't want it crossing the driveway. Might be able to patch up and make a path to the back garden so it can cut the majority of it.

What does everyone use to stop grass from sticking to the deck, teflon spray, graphite spray or something else?

I have the Luba 2 5000x for three weeks now. It's going great so far. I'm really conscious of how full of grass the deck gets though.

@aireng how frequently are you cutting it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 83 ✭✭aireng

    Every 4 days

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 775 ✭✭✭WildWater

That's too long in between cuts IMO especially this time of year. Mammotion recommends daily or every other day. Basically, your Luba will work best when she is just cutting a few mm of the top each time. I aim to cut mine every second day, certainly no more than three days. If I can manage that then I don't have an issue with grass building up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 83 ✭✭aireng

I've no choice in it really. I have the working time set between 1pm and 9.30 pm. It takes 3 days to complete 3850 m2 and annoyingly 30 minutes on the 4th day to finish the whole lawn. I'm going to try to up the speed to .4 m/sec but ultimately it would still be every 3rd day minimum.

Thanks for your replies @ongarite and @WildWater.

On a different note, does anybody have any experience of using a robot mower in a garden with a lot of large mature trees, some of which form a canopy? A family member is interested in buying a robot mower but concerned that the trees would impact the signal. Can the mower cut under large trees/canopies? Also, would the Luba be the best for a large sloped lawn? Thanks!

That's a massive area for sure. Why wait until 1pm? Even allowing for dew burn-off you have 3-4 hours in the morning that you are not using. Could also go a bit later at night.

    HHusqvarna Automower Question

    Hi All,

I have purchased a Husqvarna 450x nera online it's a little overkill for my lawn but I got it on sale with the EPOS kit to make it wireless.

With purchasing it online and on sale its a self install.

Has Anyone on here installed a automower with the epos kit and reference station .My lawn is opened no tree or building cover.

I have watched the videos online and it seems straightforward but I'm guessing there mostly sponsored videos not reporting any issues

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks in advance

Ive a 450x, not the GPS model, so dont have to worry about signal loss. no issues cutting under tree canopies.

I've a relative whose lawn covers an area of about 500m2 and contains some trees and a flagged path. Hedge along one perimeter and kerbs along the remaining.

The grass is quite poor - mossy. It is taking too much effort to maintain now and so I'm looking into auto lawnmower options for them. I don't really know much about them. Would they all be able to handle a mossy lawn.

What options should they be looking at for that size and type of lawn? I think they'd only be interested in one of the main brands that have a good backup and maintenance service.

I don't think they have a budget yet until he knows what the options are.

    Suggestions?

The Flymo Easilife 800m2 would be a possibility. I've installed them at the mother in law's. The lawn would be mossy. She has 3 separate unlinked lawns and as such 3 of them. One lawn is large and basically square ~ 400m2. The others smaller and slightly more complex with areas accessed by a narrower channel. They all have kerbs, walls and trees in them. Installing the boundary wire is simple, just time consuming as I buired it. You can peg it out on the surface and then bury it at a later date if happy with the location. The mower is controlled by Bluetooth from a mobile app or by the LCD display. They are just dumb and randomly bounce around the lawn, but they cut it evenly. Setting the correct schedule is key and for the complex lawn, the % amount of time it does each area - as in it'll travel 45m along the guide wire 30% of the time before starting cutting to do the far section. They all run the 'lawnsense' option which stops them cutting 'air'. Works very well in my view - they are often just charging as there is nothing to cut. They work well enough in wet weather. Just need to clear the cutting deck at times and also the rear single wheel, as it tends to gather a ball of grass around the axle.

You can probably get one for less than 1000 Euro. Don't get the Go models as they lack a digital display on the mower, which is handy as otherwise using the app only. Flymo packaged blades are on Amazon cheap enough. They are basically Husqvarna branded ones - 2/3 price of buying them in Husqvarna packaging.

Just make sure you download the latest firmware for them. The models she has are from 2023 and they constantly stopped with a 'machine lifted' error. The later firmware lowered the sensitivity of that. Sure they occasionally still get stuck in places, especially the more complex lawn as someone else put that wire in and ran it too close to too many obstacles, which the mower manages to run up against and can't free itself.

If your relative has some basic technical know how, then getting them going again when stuck is fairly simple.
Effectively - Press Stop button on top - Enter the PIN using arrow keys - Press Go - Press OK. Shut lid.

    I have an 2 x OG Luba 1s 5000 and a Luba 2 5000 cutting about 14000 sq m, Impressive machines.

into season 3 for 1 of them and so far no major issues. These "lawns" have it all, Hills, Moss etc and they seem to handle ok. 1 of them is out 6 days a week.

You can also increase the pathing width, reduce the border laps, and no go zone laps too.

Yes Our Luba2 5000 works fine with Canopy… The Luba 1 struggled….. the AWD on Luba is outstanding and it was born for slopes.

Got the dreaded no loop signal for my husqvarna. Have rabbits so have had issues once or twice before. So set off on my hands and knees and done the full perimeter and see no signs of it being dug, then got the trusty am radio which i have used previously but could not find any break in signal. Then to ensure its not a problem at the charging station i disconnected the guide wire, and connected it to one side and got the green light which i'd say means firstly its not a problem with anything bar the loop wire, and additionally narrowed down the problem to one section of the loop wire. Any suggestions what i can do next to try find the problem, as i said i have had this a few times before but always found the fault. Is cutting the wire in sections and connecting up new loop wire an option to try and eliminate which area is fine and therefore narrow the search. Any suggestions appreciated

Have you tried upping the speed? looks like you have lots of open areas so would be beneficial once grass isn't too long.

I've one area with less trees i run at a higher speed with no issues

I bought the "KOLSOL F02 Underground Cable Locator" to find my issue. Like you I tried the radio on the broken boundary wire all the way to where it joined the guide wire but failed to find the problem. Turns out the issue was a wet connector which the installer had put in only meters from the base station - I guess the wire spool ran out on him. I'd have probably found it via the radio method in the end but I was looking elsewhere as I really expected it to be another area.

The F02 found the issue within a few mins. Expensive but was on offer at the time and I had run out of ideas…. At least I have it for any future issues that may occur.
