Up against Salah, unless you are prime Messi or Ronaldo you ain't playing this season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,524 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

If he didn't, it's his own fault for not showing for it. He had a good 10 minutes including injury time and plenty of opportunity to do something.

His goals and assists per minute must be nuts considering he played so little minutes

Jota and Nunez we don’t need to see anymore of them this season utter rubbish both - Chiesa where was he even told to play? There will need to be a lot of incomings if the rotation aspiration is to become a possibility.

Chiesa can play up front and on the left, as well as on the right. He doesn't just have to dislodge Salah.

I guarantee if he got a run of 10 games the conversation would die down. Like Elliot, coming on late in games and impressing is one thing. Doing it from the start is completely different.

Fairly poor game by us - to be somewhat expected with all the changes.

Endo did well - Elliott and Gakpo not so much.

I cannot believe Jones played the full game. Thought he was fairly atrocious and Palmer played around him all day, with ease.

Neville salivating with every touch of the ball by Palmer was fairly funny and I reckon his dreams came true when he scored - for the first time in a very very long time.

Scraping a draw would have been nice but not to be. Chelsea are a seriously disorganised team - leaving VVD free from corners on several occasions was a goal simply waiting to happen, which it did. He needs to score more than 3 over a season though - should be on 7 or 8,.

I cannot take anyone seriously that thinks a haircut like Lloyd Christmas is a good thing. Add in he looks as thick as Lloyd as well, no offense Cole, well thank goodness is can kick around the ball around well. Still a very good player.

I hope this isn't how it's going to be for the last few games. Hopefully that was the hangover game done now and there will be more application the next match. I understand the need to let go after a tough season but you think these players are proud enough to not let the season end with a whimper. We had the 4-0 mare against City in 2020 after we won the title but the rest of the matches were not taken lightly. I know we lost against Arsenal but from my memory that was a total smash and grab from them.

the goal was important as it keeps the first Liverpool team to score in every away game target alive - a goal away to Brighton seals that.

Chiesa for Jota Diaz for Gakpo and macca for Jones were the changes needed at HT

If they play like that again next week, I'll wait for the preseason friendly games before I start watching again. An awful waste of 2 hours watching lads strolling around the pitch.

some freshness needed now over the Summer.

Kelleher, Tsimikas, Quansah, Jota, Chiesa & Nunez all in the frame for moving on - should make decent money from some of those. Possibly Elliott too.

    Chiesa goals/assist per min 94

    Nunez goals/assist per min 150

And Chiesa had to do that with the second string teammates

Those types of games are often far more trickier though. Very awkward playing against highly strung players giving everything they have for their one moment in the spotlight .

The hammering that Jones is getting is really bizarre.

Everybody was singing a different tune with his performance against Everton at home.

He was shíte today - he wasn't v Everton.

He deserves the hammering today as much as the credit v Everton.

it’s ok for both things to be correct they arnt mutually exclusive

I'm not sure what benefit there is to playing an entirely changed midfield… what does it tell you, like? I'd much rather see Endo in with Mac and Szobo, Elliott in with Mac and Grav, and Jones in with Grav and Szobo. See how well someone does when brought into an otherwise full strength midfield.

Quansah isn't good enough for a team Ike Liverpool. We absolutely need a CB in the summer

yeah I think it’s gonna be a ruthless summer to be honest

Tbh, Quansah was good enough for us last season for the most part.

This season he has had the experience of being hooked at HT on dayb1 against Ipswich and then, someone correct me if im wrong, not playing again until randomly being placed at RB away to Newcastle.

A bit like with Rebel's point above, we will never find out if sqaud players are good enough by playing them once a quarte, out of position and with the rest of the lads who have had no game time.

All that said, it's hard to criticize today given what they've delivered us. I hope they get over it for the next game though.

Jones is looking for a big upgrade on his current deal. He was MOTM v Chelsea at home and really good v Everton. He has not stepped up this season to do it consistently and was terrible yesterday. He’s not good enough for Liverpool first 11 another Fulham level player or thereabouts.

The manager sees way more day in day out in training. He also best knows what his strategy is. I think we’ll see big changes in the summer with fringe players being more to his liking, allowing more rotation.

Very harsh on Quansah to have that OG recorded against him, that was VVD’s in all but name.

Yesterday’s game was a tough ask against title challengers next year when our lads were recovering from well deserved celebrations.

I’m more concerned re Salah’s 2nd half of the season compared to his first. I do think we’ll be cashing in for a Saudi deal around this time next year, so enjoy Salah’s last year.

The only positive to be taken from yesterday is that following his fifth cameo appearance Federico Chiesa is now fully entitled to his Premier League winner's medal. With 41 minutes played to date it must be close to being a record for the fewest minutes played and qualifying to receive a winner's medal.

Not sure what was expected with a midfield like that. Endo and one of Curtis/Harvey and a stalwart would have worked much better.

Regardless, Slot knows who he is moving on anyway.

I’m sure Salah had a massive offer from Saudi on the table this summer. That offer will be lower next summer and not a chance Salah accepts it. Salah is here for 2 years, then leaves.

Hopefully we’ll manage his minutes more next season, despite his rage every time he gets taken off, as it should help us get a season out of him. We should also give him some extra time off after he’s away with Egypt. His desire to play every minute of every game and his amazing fitness is really great, but he’s human and needs a bit more minding, even if he doesn’t want it!

Ruben Loftus-Cheek got a medal in 2016/17 after 6 appearances and 23 minutes played 🤣

Chiesa will play in the next 3 games, I think he might even start v Brighton or Palace.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,418 ✭✭✭dogbert27

I think Salah is wanting records and it's achievable by staying with Liverpool.

In the 2 seasons he's probably backing himself to get ahead of Harry Kane. His only problem there is if Kane returns within the 2 years.

If he's anywhere near a sniff of catching Shearer I think he'd take a 1 year extension on reduced money.

Slot keeps saying Chiesa can't get in the team because Salah is always going to play in his position.

I would like to see maybe against Brighton or Crystal Palace for Salah to start as the CF and have Chiesa on the right.
