Replace Cullen with ROG. They need to kick some arses

Very disappointing but Northampton are a fantastic team to watch with an attacking spirit unusual in English rugby. No complaints.

Either way 14 or 13, with their 5 gone just go line out. Give everyone time to get the heads set and know what they had to do. This pick and go was asking for trouble because all NH had to do was pile in.

We all love a bit of banter. 4 to 2 still😅

Hope your hurlers stop giving away 12 pt leads. Like Leinster they're finding it hard to get over the line for.. actually a lot longer than Leinster, 20 years!

Prendergast was massively overrated by the Irish media. Needs to bulk up aswell.

That's what I heard him saying as well. But I think that's not correct with regard to the laws. It could have been ruled out because it was either grounded against the base of the corner flag or because Byrne was on the ground himself and therefore off his feet, as someone above pointed out.

Looking at it in slow motion, I actually don't think it was grounded against the post though. It was very fine in terms of Byrne being off his feet as he was falling just as he was grounding it but I think he probably was off his feet. So probably not a try - but the ref ruled it out for the wrong reason I think.

Delivering under momentous pressure is an area he's historically not been great at.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,123 ✭✭✭uptherebels

But even if he had started him. Barret hasn't played in what, 3 weeks?

Ross Moloney must be a happy boy this evening.

His former schoolmates and Leinster pals are licking their wounds, while he's looking forward to a European Final in Cardiff in a few weeks time - and very probably an English Premiership Title as well, next month. Looks like a good decision to have jumped aboard the SS Dyson - even with van Graan at the wheel. But I wouldn't have minded having if we had him on the pitch for us this afternoon - he never played a bad game for Leinster and the lineouts were better

Four/five minutes to go, down three with a very kickable penalty, you kick the penalty 100% of the time. Leinster could have scored and gotten away with it, still would be the wrong call.

There was only around a minute left on the first sin bin when Leinster turned down kick - crooked throw/knock on etc - Northampton are back to 15 and clear their lines.

An astonishingly bad call. Genuinely cannot recall one remotely close to it. I don’t think there is another team in the world that would have turned down kick in that situation.

    That’s a bit simplistic.

Leo hasn’t been good enough for a few years. His decision to play a second string versus Munster in the league knock outs a few years back should have been curtains.

Sam on the other hand, as is obvious to everyone with any semblance of rational thought isn’t a good enough 10 (yet) for this level. He might not have been the only reason for losing this game, but he was certainly part of it.

I don’t know how sees it different tbh.

Who makes the decision? Prendergast was taken off not long after that. Were those who decide on subs unhappy with that decision?

Leinster had it all going for them and took nothing - it is getting all too familiar.

Leo would be mad to quit.

He can still win the league, and let’s be honest there won’t be any great number of sides looking to sign him. He has no French experience and it’s probably too late in the day to get it.

There isn’t really another job in this level of rugby for him, and I can’t see media being his thing.

He needs to hold out for a payoff, and then his level is probably mid table English club rugby.

I was listening on the radio and they said the players were looking towards the bench at the end when trying to make decisions when they had penalties.

Baffling really, seems nobody wanted to step up.

    Leo. Go. Please.

I feel so bad for Doris. Probably only player that gave it all. First time Prendergast played under severe pressure and did not perform at all.

What team puts Jordie on the bench and starts Healy ahead of Porter when you know refs don't like a powerful scrummager. Ffs.

Well done saint's. I'll be cheering ye on

Very disappointing from a Leinster perspective. Leo is under serious pressure now given the resources at his disposal. For me, his selections have been very poor. The decision to play a second team against Munster in the league semi a few years ago, and selections like today - not starting Porter or including Boyle, and not selecting Barrett from the start. And Luke McGrath.. Leo didn't trust him during extra time last May in the final, so I don't know how he didn't give Gunne the lions share of minutes during the season so he'd at least potentially be an option off the bench at this stage of the season.

Blyendaal has brought very little also for me - nowhere near the level of some of the attack coaches elsewhere in Europe. As for Jacques - our defence had a bad day but it has been good this year in fairness.

Credit to Saints - so well deserved for them.

If they take the 3 with 5 to go I think they go to win it in the 80. Baffling decisions - SP should be putting the hand up and saying I can slot this. Worst that happens is you miss and it’s a drop out.

Can't say this is a surprise. URC teams usually budget around Leinster because players inexplicably end up with season ending injuries against the Leinster first team. This makes Leinster look like world beaters and I think the evidence is pretty conclusive that they are anything but..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,123 ✭✭✭uptherebels

Yes, experience of watching Leinster repeatedly come up short

Yep it was obvious the leadership wasn't there at the end.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

He could always go back to the male modelling?🕴️🕺💁‍♂️

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,778 ✭✭✭lalababa

I think barret made the call ..he came over to conan and said something and immediately conan put the ball down. In hindsight it was a bad call but at the time it made sense. Because momentum was with lienster, they were well in the 22, NH were down a man , there was 5 mins left, and leinster had to score more than 3 to win the game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 106 ✭✭honestbroker

It is a little unfair that Leo gets all the criticism, the way people review the match it reads like Nienabar is just defence coach. He is very much the HEAD coach responsible for the overall selection, decision making on and off the field and tactics.

    Same as Vesey at NH.

Dowson has the same role as Leo.

Leo must share some of the responsibility/blame but not what is being levelled at him on here.

I think it’s clear Barrett has restrictions based on media reporting. Leo absolutely has things to answer for I would doubt he wouldn’t start JB in a big game like this.
