Canada was an anti Trump vote. It's the Australian's party second term in office. They swap and change regularly apparently.

I don't know if there will be a reaction to Trump in the US, but with a visible reaction just north of the border, hope can be given to anti-Trumpers in the US. One can only hope the Tariffs don't do too much harm to the American dreamers in the US, just enough to unseat sufficient Trumpers in the US that he will fall rapidly and completely as well.

We keep coming back around to it but the fact that king chaos was reelected tells us there's a significant vote base in the USA that's deeply hostile to the what were the post WWII western norms, both domestic and international.

If Trump dropped dead today there's still that rabid mob from which could emerge far worse than what we've seen already.

Leaving aside the ridiculousness of idea of Canada ever joining the USA for a moment, it is almost three times the size of the USA in area. Below the ignorance of the idea, there's also a distinct layer of insult and dismissiveness to say that Canada would only be one state. It would be at least ten, based on the current provincial map of Canada. Population wouldn't come into it - Wyoming is its own state, despite less than a million people living there. It'd be like Nigel Farage suggesting that Ireland should become a county of England.

And to make it all even more distasteful to Canadians, making it the 51st state would abolish any provincial autonomy in law that Canadians currently enjoy and would therefore mean that people in Saskatchewan would have to have all the same local laws as those in Quebec. Unworkable, in other words.

It just further underlines what we already knew. It's all something Trump says to demean, distract and intimidate.
