Do you remember the IDF's version of events of what happened at the ambulance before the video was found that showed them to be completely lying? Would that suggest to you that they might be prone to lying?

You are choosing to believe the Israeli version of that event. Since this isn't my first day on Earth, I know that the presence and whereabouts of a white woman protesting the destruction of the homes you are currently destroying would be known to the drivers and all around. You can read the reports of what was seen that day.

Israel has demolished what 80-90% of Gaza now using 2,000lb bombs mass-murdering tens of thousands of innocent people. But yeah sure, when they were demolishing those thousands of homes back in 2003, they were being super duper careful making sure to not kill anyone innocent. Yeah, totally.

On the two or possibly three occasions of posts crossing the line (in 18 months) there was immediate condemnation all round.

The accusations are a very tired tactic and really don't wash any more.

True, I had forgotten about those as they were so long ago and limited to a couple of posters but as you said, they were called out for what they were doing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,841 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Indeed - that was the version of events given.

Bit like the IDF lads who didn't see the lights on the ambulances so ended up executing 15 medics because they "didn't see them".

    Plain talking from Mike Ryan.

Others mumble, use their learned flowery politico-speak, duck and dive.

    Nail on the head.

Anyone supporting Israel whilst they continue to deny food, water and medicine (8 weeks and counting) are morally bankrupt.

Similar to the medics a few weeks ago then. They were hiding behind their ambulances when they were bulldozing them. Jesus you are some apologist.

Anyone backing the Israeli government and IDF in their Genocide is equally as guilty imo. Pretending it is not Genocide is not an excuse, it's assistance.

It looks like somebody realised it looked bad coming from a right wing think tank.

However the Israeli Genocide ends, I sincerely hope those who supported it will be forced to contemplate their choices and forced to watch what those choices led to.

    Just like 80 years ago.

US forces liberated the Buchenwald concentration camp in Germany in April 1945. Here, US soldiers escort German civilians from the nearby town of Weimar through the Buchenwald camp. The American liberating troops had a policy of forcing German civilians to view the atrocities committed in the camps.

A few interesting news items from Haaretz.

IDF are demolishing homes to ensure the freedom of movement of troops there are no witnesses to their atrocities and lies.

    • Marking World Press Freedom Day, the Foreign Press Association in Israel renewed its call for Israel to allow foreign reporters into Gaza, citing its pending petition to the High Court of Justice on the issue.
    • A man was filmed threatening activists at the hostage families' encampment in Jerusalem, shouting: "When the [Israeli] right wakes up, this whole tent will burn down."
    • The IDF recently informed residents of two refugee camps in the Tulkarm area of its intention to demolish 106 homes. The IDF said the demolitions are required to ensure troops' freedom of movement in counter-terror operations. The UN Relief and Works Agency called the move, which follows widespread demolitions in refugee camps in the West Bank over the past few months, "collective punishment."

Bibi has also called up thousands of Reservists to push the starving people further away ahead of extended Gaza push.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,841 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Most water sources will be in the occupied areas of Gaza which the civilians cannot access.
Israel is taking 20% of Gaza - that's why they're calling up 10s of thousands of reservists.

But it's not Genocide, no sir.

Netanyahu, Smotric and Ben Ghvir will go down in history as monsters who persecuted or at best sought the perseucution of the native people of the land on which their country was founded on in 1948. Smotrich is of Ukrainian heritage. Ben Ghvir's ancestry is Iraqi Kurd, and Netanyahu is Polish who father's surname was Milekowsky. All three men are clearly not native to the land in terms of their ancestry. Yet they see fit to persecute those who are.

Their is no doubt that the Nazi's inflicted on the Jewish people evil before unseen. This current Israeli regime is doing it's best to replicate the Nazi's. They might as well close the Holocaust museum in Jerusalem. They've clearly learned nothing from the horror of WW2.

All Israeli regimes since 1948 have persecuted Palestinians. This current regime just happens to be the worst of the lot. It will be deserved fate if the current state of Israel loses it's right to exist. This regime and all who persecuted Palestinians have betrayed the goodwill the world showed to Jewish people when Israel was created in 1948 out of Palestinian land.

From the get go they treated the native people of the land as second class citizens. Just like how the Nazi's viewed the Jews. The life of a Palestinian child, man and woman is of equal value to any Jew. To say otherwise is nuts.

For some, you will find a quick 'I always opposed it'

For others, you will find a longer 'but do you support Hamas and they caused it'

“Encouraging” ? Yeah, I guess having the shite bombed out of your homeplace on a regular basis might “encourage” you to leave it alright 🙄

Now I hate israelis, you need to demonstrate that, so do spell it out.

While you're at it what do you think FF or SF have to do with it.

What is obvious is you getting annoyed because you're being lambasted with fact after fact about the horrors being inflicted by israel. Your only answer is "if you say anything against israel i'll label you antisemetic" or "look over there at what they did, israel really isn't that bad" and now "everyone is trying to kill israelis , we're just defending ourselves in loads of other countries"

It will be deserved fate if the current state of Israel loses it's right to exist.

That's clearly what the Ayatollahs of Iran, their proxies, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis etc, are working towards. That's why Israel is being attacked all the time, including most recently with all the wildfires which were almost definitely set by arsonists.

Iran et. al. intend to grind the Jewish state out of existence, one way or another. They've made that clear. And their useful idiots in the Western Left are doing their bidding.

We see the pattern now, clearly:

    1. An Iranian proxy attacks Israel, or in a recent case, Druze in Syria near Israel.
    2. Israel responds.
    3. Western Leftists bash Israel and blame them for everything.

This horrific video about Haiti shows the gangs doing the same thing. They move into an area, burn the homes, and claim it's for the safety of their troops and it's better for people to lose their home than their lives.

It's a really hard watch in parts.

It's astonishing that the people of Gaza are experiencing the same sort of depravity and violence, but from the IDF with the support of Western nations. Just complete destruction, rape, and murder. And the destruction of homes. What's even more astonishing is the hell on Earth shown there in Haiti, with marauding gangs taking over the capital, is actual heaven compared to what millions are experiencing in Gaza.

It's been a while since "useful idiots" has been trotted out, the complete lack of self-awareness demonstrated on your part while using it is not surprising.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,841 ✭✭✭dmcdona

I posted the report here - Settlers set fire to Palestinian farm lands causing wildfires.

    Settlers were the arsonists.

By the way, we see the pattern alright. But it looks nothing like the one you see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 796 ✭✭✭Miniegg

Loads of people in here are sticking up for the IDF and government policies here.

You just for some odd reason ignore them and don't pull them up on it, and instead go after people appalled with the world allowing the IDF to ethnically cleanse Palestinian civilians from their land.

And again - I believe Israel society is a radicalized society, by and large - reasons of histksg and geography for this. It would be v hard to dispute that. As is Palestinian I would say. That is what people are saying here - it's patently not antisemetic to say this, what does religion have to do with it?

Unless you are saying this behaviour is a facet of Judaism, which there is no evidence for in the rest of the world.

Maybe you need to look at the bigger picture then?

Take into account the global and area enmity in the area which has stoked up the violence?

Remove the closed mind attitude maybe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,828 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

I dont think there is a way to have an open minded attitude to illegal settlements. It's a problem that will just continue the cycle of violence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,841 ✭✭✭dmcdona

    What's the bigger picture?

This thread has discussed all aspects - those who regularly follow and post are very familiar with the history of the area.

Those who pop in from time to time less so I'd imagine. And not being fully informed are more likely to have a closed mind attitude - along with getting in perceived digs and criticisms and no real contribution.

But as you say, I'll continue to keep the mind open but I really cannot see anyone eventually coming here with a robust and cogent argument in favour of Genocide and War Crimes. Can you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,332 ✭✭✭✭Brendan Bendar

Not at all, however marbelling every post, as some do,with references to “Genocide” and “War crimes” certainly, for me anyway, shows a closed mind to the bigger picture both globally and territorially and gives one the impression of student agitation with a lot of ‘proclamation’ style rhetoric with a style which frankly although well intended that can turn folk off at times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,159 ✭✭✭sock.rocker*

In an argument with Nazis, would you avoid using terms "genocide" and "war crimes" with regards to the Holocaust in case you come across as closed minded and maybe turn folk off?

The people we are dealing with here didn't logic their way into their support of Israel's actions. No one on the planet could do that. So we can't use logic to change their positions either. All we can do is tell them what their positions actually mean, which is, they support war crimes and the starving of children etc.

I genuinely don't see what else we can do. At least it's actually truthful unlike their accusations of antisemitism.
