Me neither. 1987 was a pretty average Summer. 1989 was good but not 33c

I'd say in the West itl be near the end of May at least before we get a temperature like today again. There's a cooler Atlantic airmass from the new High and then a lot of charts has lows slipping down from the N and NW. But who knows maybe a warm high will show in forecasts in a few days time.

Ye I got confused 😕 I thought 1987 was that temperature as well , maybe it reached 33c as well that year but not 33.3c , yes our coldest temperature is over due also , I know Dublin got down to -16c or so in December 2010 , sorry I'm going off topic now

That was like 1976 where everything turned yellow for 10 weeks and grass frizzled

Stunning morning in Dublin this morning. Can't believe it's May already, the seasons are zipping by. May always my favourite month

Same here, I love May and it's another lovely morning this morning. We are missing those whispy little high clouds from yesterday. This weather has been amazing ☺️

From Greystones, can see cloud starting to bubble up north of Dublin. Could be a few sharp showers for Dublin a little later.

This is the start of my favourite time of year. 7 weeks before summer solstice and 7 weeks after. I try to get as much done in this period as possible so that the summer doesn't get away from me - it can be so fast! Loads of light and hopefully loads of dry weather.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

was a beautiful warm and sunny morning here in Meath, however the wall of cloud has moved in and temperatures sliding away. An hour ago it was 20C, now currently 16C. The next week will definitely be noticeably cooler however the good news is it looks mostly dry over the coming week. I saw enough rain over the Easter bank holiday weekend to last a lifetime.

Hopefully the blue sky returns some time soon, our weather never fails to disappoint

still sunny down here in Arklow but a stiff Sea breeze has dropped temperatures by almost 6c to 17.3c in under an hour

Quite noticeable cb convection visible over the Wicklow mountains from the sea breeze heat convergence zone

Was coming in to report same. Towers/convective looking cloud over the Dublin/Wicklow Mountains.

14.3c now in Greystones and misty.

Walking around you can see the storm clouds to the north. Looks like Cobh and Carrigtohill area could be hit instead

14C here now in Meath, an 8C drop in just over 2 hours. Time to put the Huddie back on.

Temps rocketing across Cork, 25C widely now. Thunder clouds forming to our North!

Hottest day for sometime in Cork, don't think they really predicted the 25.2c it got to in Cobh today at my station. Still at 24c.

25.7C on the Glengarriff climate station, only 0.2C below Athenry's record-breaking value yesterday. Of course a new month now so how does it compare for early May?

The record for the first week of May in Ireland as far as I can see is 25.9C at Boora (Offaly) on 3rd May 1990.

Cork looks like it’s in for a Spanish summer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,904 ✭✭✭pureza

still glorious in Arklow, temperature has settled around 17 or 18 c with that strong sea breeze

Can see convection to the west about 20 to 30kms inland along the usual convergence zone
