What do you think of leaving the milk bottle right beside the kettle as it boils?

I wouldn't say it drives me mad but I really don't like it. I was visiting someone today and I saw the wife there do this when making us tea. I pointed it out but she did not care. But to my satisfaction the husband agreed with me. They then kind of argued a bit about it and he eventually said "well how long do you plan on leaving it there?"! It was less than an inch from it.

this was my first thought too to be honest

and this is despite living in a country where (plastic) milk bottles are relatively common. then again part of the country favours bagged milk too so……..
