If a company is selling phones there should be a note on the website. Model z x y do not have the play store eg 95 per cent of android apps cannot be installed on this phone ,it's like renting a car , oh by the way it can only go a 50 miles per hour max and you can only buy petrol at a few petrol stations that we have a contract with .

But we we will not tell you of this fact until After you buy the car .

Most people buy phones in order to install apps like youtube Spotify tinder revolut

Its like buying a tv that has no HDMI or av in interface

@thereiver that samsung phone is a good buy if you check out the specs on the eir website.

Are you referring to Samsung Galaxy A05s, that I linked and bought today. I'm pretty pleased with my purchase.

I know I said I was just looking for a temporary phone, until I find something else. But now think this phone will serve me well. Without needing a more expensive model upgrade soon.

Spent most of the day setting up and trying to get use to samsung UI, which I was never a fan off. Lots of future tweeks to it in the coming days. And a good few apps to configure with settings and logins. Transfer of apps and data from old phone went well today.

I also said I was planning on passing on the phone to a friend, but maybe buying another one tomorrow for them.

Most people buy phones in order to install apps

sim free unlocked phones can be bought in several major electric retailers.

they typically cost more than the equivalent supplied by a network with a contract.

so clever people try to get pay as you go phones from

    network

Some providers lock the phone to their network.

Most people buy phones in order to install apps

Fully functional sim free unlocked phones can be bought in several major electric retailers.

they typically cost more than the equivalent supplied by a network with a contract.

so clever people try to get pay as you go phones from a network.

Some providers may lock the phone to their network or have limited or restricted functionality to combat this.

The network may be offsetting the cost of the handset by incorporateing it into a contract of set duration. You take your chance if you don't read the the small print.

    Very strange.

All I can tell you is that I have bought phones from Tesco in the past and never had a problem with any of them. I left Tesco because they were only offering H+ when everyone else had gone to 4G, not because of the handsets they were selling. People I know also bought their phones from there and never had a problem with them. Perhaps it was a fault with that particular model of phone. To declare that Tesco are deliberately removing the Google Play app from the phones they sell is untrue. You should've brought it back at the time IMHO.

I.m saying the phone I bought 3 years ago does not have Google play store on it. I installed 2apps using an SD card .it's not faulty .

I have no idea what their policy is re the app store in 2025 I would have no interest in buying a tesco phone. Since their deal on data is limited to 15gig the eir 20 eur deal is unlimited data phone calls and texts

I can see no info on the tesco website re is Google play avaidable on all phone models or not

All I can tell you is that I have never seen a phone purchased from Tesco that didn't have the Google Play store on it. I'm not doubting what you're telling us but I am disputing your statement that people should not buy a phone from Tesco. As far as I am aware, the only brand that doesn't ship with Google Play anymore is Huawei

So true, I bought this phone off Tesco, doesn't have the Google Play Store on it, doesn't even tell you on the website, it's a disgrace Joe: https://www.tescomobile.ie/phone-details/488/Apple-iPhone-12

You're clearly far better buying from Eir, who I'm sure tell you for every phone whether the Play Store is included…

I.m saying the data deals for tesco don't appeal to me and I have no idea what's the deal with Google play on tesco phones on 2025 I'd buy a tesco phone I'f they offer unlimited data for less than 2o euro on prepay which is unlikely I'm not telling anyone else what to do i but f you, r in a hurry the eir phone for 69euro looks good if you are on the Eir network

I,m not in the market for a new phone at the moment

I d be very surprised if Eir sells a phone without the Google play store on it as that's the most popular app store for average normies ,eg non tech experts

I don't understand why tesco would want to sell phones with no access to Google play and no easy way to install popular apps like revolut on them with not even a basic radio app avaidable.

I don't like the iphone it has no earphone socket and of course you can't buy an iphone for 120 euro I don't want to be using earphones that have to be charged .At least all iphones have an apple app store installed .
