Just thought a list of free legal video streamers might be useful. Anyone know an good ones.

RTÉ Player, VMTV Player, TG4 Player, Channel 4.

Any other free legal streamers available in Ireland?

For retro content, satellite channel Talking Pictures TV "Encore" player is legit available in ROI. Registration is free and there's some ads when the player launches initially.

Lots of British series from the 1970s, and some gems such as a French adaptation of the Maigret series with the formidable Bruno Cremer as the detective. The 1960s BBC black and white adaptation with Rupert Davies also available.

Not a lot of people realise just how good the content on RTE player actually is. Whilst its a bit of a faff with ads and remembering the latest episode you watch, these are minor complaints when compared to the content. They've done a great job in getting a lot of the good BBC show's on there, but more impressively they seem to have picked up the better dramas from the likes of Disney + and Paramount. There's definitely quality control going on, as whilst the depth of content is reasonably limited (and probably nothing for the sci fi heads), there's very little doom scrolling to be done to find excellent drama content. Fair focks to RTE because they don't get much praise generally!

Not to bash RTÉ… what that's your whole raison d'etre on boards :) … but … annually RTÉ spend €25million on imports, you'd hope with that they'd be able to buy popular shows and quality shows. They have never once considered reducing this down, on the other hand in areas of public service broadcasting they continually cut … most home produced dramas are co-productions and they've consistently had a low budget for this in and around €8 million. Sorry to burst RTÉ's small win, but they do pay out a lot for that content so they should be getting that content.

There used to be a poster on boards who'd always bring up TV5 Monde, he wanted it to be a standard on cable TV, never really understood why digital TV didn't bring more non-English speaking channels to Pay TV.

if you have an LG Smart TV they have a bunch of free channels built in. I think Pluto TV works here as well. Both services loaded with ads though.

Pluto TV isn’t unfortunately available here.

As the poster two above says some recent TVs will have access to FAST channels (free linear channels streamed over the net run on a cheap as chips basis) through their built in software such as LG Channels. I don’t really watch them but others may find them useful.

If you are (very) into sports there is a certain amount of free content including NFL Network available through the Dazn app without a sub.
