You can be full sure none of the refugee industry shills will be raising their kids on Dorset st.

Malachi steenson missed on on becoming a TD by a whisker even after the monk split his vote, why would so many vote for him in an area so enriched by immigration?! What's wrong with these people?!

I read your footer as a remark on my contribution, mea Culpa.

I don't have a wording for a referendum, you got me there, but the election most certainly was not a referendum on this issue and offered no overview on the general opinion of the electorate given all the main parties are in lock step with the current policy.

"Malachi steenson missed on on becoming a TD by a whisker"

    Really?

He was eliminated after the sixth count in eighth place in a four seat constituency. He had less than one third of a quota when eliminated. Would you care to explain how that constitutes a whisker?

Immigration did not cause those prices to go up in the 90s.

Mortgage rates were exorbitant and stamp duty caused a squeeze on middle level houses so prices went up.

They had to fiddle with that bbut made mistakes when they loosened loan ceilings which when rates came down ultimately led to increased developer led gambling and people were able to buy their home and a spare with cheap credit !

It's not ideological . I never heard immigration mentioned as any issue until the last 2 or 3 years . Post Brecit and Covid when many in UK and here who relied on those issues to stir up pro right sentiment found something else to concentrate their ire on

Agree that we need some controls but that migrants are not to blame for the housing crisis , just another factor .

I don't understand what you mean about the " long term factor " ..are you talking about time limits for even working migrants who settle here ?

Look we will agree to disagree otherwise .

Oh right the general election shouldn't be considered as referendum on the immigration issue but a march of 5k people where they hoisted trump posters and listened to a rapist should be considered as such?

I find it hard to understand how those expressing concern at the massive increase in Asylum seekers are branded far right etc when the minister in charge of this issue admits the system is being abused.

    Is he Far right.?

It follows comments made by Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan yesterday, in which he said "too many people" are coming here seeking international protection who are not entitled to it.

I would say when he sees an opposition movement spearheaded by the National Party and Conor McGregor he would not be too concerned. They are marmite to most voters.

The anti immigration lobby need a rebranding like Sinn Fein performed on themselves to be in the running to actually gain some power. They most definitely need to dump the National Party and McGregor.

You won't get a referendum on it because it's not a constitutional issue .

The last time conservatives tried to fiddle with the constitution and made a pigs ear of it we ended up with the 8th amendment.

There would be a strong majority who would come out to prevent something like that happening ever again !

Immigration and asylum should be dealt with by government and through legislation .

Good luck with that with the non functioning Dáil we have at the moment .

The only TD working afaics is Jim o Callaghan fair dues. And I would not have been a fan before .

I think FFG knew this when they allowed the migrant crisis to deteriorate. And they knew SF wouldn't go against it. So when they changed tact it makes SF look bad.

Apologies it was the monk who missed by a whisker, too many pina coladas after beating the dubs yesterday. As an added bonus, I'll get to experience the wonderful diversity on Dorset st heading to the final !

The same Malachy Steenson who claimed Gerry Hutch was “put into this race” by the State to prevent a Steenson victory.

    🤣

Sunday world has great post election article on far right racist grifters who failed to get elected.

    https://www.sundayworld.com/news/irish-news/far-right-fail-to-make-impact-in-election-as-malachy-steenson-blames-hutch-for-defeat/a480885104.html

Oh and he missed out by a whisker just behind

    Green candidate Nease Hourigan

    Fianna Fail Candidate Mary Fitzpatrick

And State candidate Gerry the Monk Hutch.

Just missed out after those other 3, by being eliminated on the 6th count of 11.

    "

You also mentioned The Monk in your original post.

Thankfully it wouldn't be like an anti immigrant supporter to attempt to spread disinformation.

An Indian student who pleaded guilty to the attempted abduction of a five-year-old child in Dublin last year has avoided jail and been given two weeks to leave the country and not return for 10 years.

We are an extremely soft touch, the guy pleaded guilty and his excuse was that he was intoxicated. Also why only banned for 10 years and not forever?

Funny you mention Dorset street another native Irish business has packed up and left. The ghettoisation continues. We've seen this happen many times already in other European cities.

The only poll that matters is the one with the ballot box.

My concern is if you dismiss peoples genuine concerns out of hand as little more than rabble rousing from far right lunatics, citing election results as proof their concerns are meaningless, the inevitable end result is that people then turn to the ballot box and elect far right lunatics.

That's the way this will end if it continues as is currently.

I'm glad he isn't getting jail because it'll cost us plus they're way overcrowded but he should have been straight onto a plane out of court the Predator.

Not that long ago I thought the far right would take over here. Not as convinced now, because a lot of the centrists are talking the language of ordinary people on the issue again. Of course they won’t actually do anything effective, but just talking might be enough given how undemanding an electorate we have.

Strange that the wonderful diversity and exotic restaurants wasn't enough of a positive to outweigh weirdos harassing staff and fellas slicing each other with machetes outside.

Pity for the shills that she had video footage as otherwise she'd just be called a big bad waysist. No doubt Joe Duffy n some of the newspapers will be all over this- won't ye folks?!

A go getter local business woman after pumping 10s of thousands into doing up a unit n having to walk away. Course they will🤣

It's funny people saying that the election proved that immigration was irrelevant to the people when the issue actually decided the Government. We would very likely have an SF led Government but for voters deserting them due to their immigration stance.

Id imagine a lot like myself with concerns about immigration voted with FFG as the best of a bad lot to deal with the issue and boot the Greens out.

I forgot Steenson had come up with utter lunatic Conspiracy Take

Good Christ, he is a completely unelectable loon.

Thankfully, most of the Far Right in this country are too.

So unelectable, he's elected as a councillor in Dublin.

    There is no far right

    There is no far right

Anyway if there is a far right blame the meeja and the left for making the racists racist.

    The mental gymnastics are exhausting.

I've been pointing out for years that there is a far right, but it's a tiny rabble. Which is where it seems the left wing consensus has landed as well all of a sudden.

Ironically the only people I'm seeing advocating for violence in this discourse currently are the good people that form the group known as "the revolutionary communists of Ireland".

A young man by the name of Fionn O'reilly can be found posting videos online calling for the left to engage the far right on the streets using force.

I wonder when he'll be convicted for enciting violence, oh that right, that's left wing violence, so that's acceptable. Nothing to see here.

Virtually no criticism of the perps in the video from the pro-immigration commentators - not surprising one bit. But had that been White Irish lads filming in the door of a migrant owned shop or White Irish lads savagely beating each other on the streets during broad daylight the gnashing of teeth and condemnations from the ivory towers of D4 would have been deafening.

Naw, it's a White northside Woman trying to run a business though, happy to take her taxes and hand it over to these creeps and their enabling NGOs that would itch for an opportunity to call her a privileged far-right racist had she not video evidence. Anyone defending or even ignoring the actions of those perps in her video should be utterly ashamed of themselves.

Anyone ignoring what this Woman has had to endure should be embarrassed and sick at what they are promoting. If it was your sister, your wife, your aunt, your niece - would you look them in the eye and tell them it's 'all part and parcel of living in a modern multicultural city'?

Anyday now that far left Armageddon you have been predicting is coming though right.

I'm a bit confused by your far right hokey pokey though. Are we in the denying they exist stage or the they are the impending popular choice and will seize power with their 5k man march and also entirely created by the meeja and the left at the same time.
