Maclean Burke had some rare muscle degenerative problem. He collapsed a few times. It can be induced by over weight training.

He seems to have turned a corner with it. I wish him well.

I've slagged Damo for years but Maclean seems a decent fella.

Why did Mark bring a gun to a lunch in memorial of his sister

I didn't understand how Damien jumped straight on Mark with what did you do to her after he mentioned her flight had turbulence, did I miss something else, it seems very rushed and not thought out

Why is Buckley back on the case, he seems to just want it closed

Was it in the car they were arguing and he pushed her out or they stopped and got out to argue

One question I have, Laura was a strong, fit girl. How did that little runt kill her so easily😅

Hahahaha even in a shooting crisis Sash is pawning off Olivia on someone else.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Otis Hill

Well at least the writers were able to explain how Mark had a gun. It's still all just deus ex machina as Tyler would probably say.

So Dolly and Sash were allowed to text Pete and Gwen from an active crimscene. Very sound of Buckley and Fidelma. Tommy couldn't be arsed to text Emma the hot goss though?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Otis Hill

Yeah i had to laugh at that. Sash was trying to use checking on Olivia as an excuse to get out of being held at gunpoint but as soon as the gun is taken off Mark she pawns the kid off on Dolly, just in case she's miss out on any juicy gossip for texting to Gwen 🤣.

On a side note, I wish they'd shown us the text message(s) Sash sent. Did she use emojis? If i got a text saying something like that I'd be questioning the veracity of it or if it was someone playing a joke or after stealing the persons phone before I went around the neighbourhood telling everyone. Gwen just took the text as gospel. Couldn't it have been a slip of the tongue (or thumb) that she typed Mark confessed instead of Tyler confessed

Hilarious when Damien was shouting over and over for help for Mairead and two guards in the background stayed standing motionless hahaha

You would think Sash and Tommy would be upstairs clued to Olivia after that but no she asks Dolly

What was the gun explanation, did I miss that, I remember Buckley and Fidelma talking about his army history and Tyler saying Mark threatened him but he had no gun

I dont know if i would have had all that scene outside the pub when the guards went in , between pete and ray discussing about the bloke popping around the garage , that was daft! - in any case they surely would not be able to congregate near the pub like that, surely a garda would have cordoned all that area off when buckley and fidelma turned up ?

does anyone know if mairead is being written out of it? - i havent seen/read anything on it

Just more angst for Dean and Damo

I wonder will Phoebe return for Mairead

I doubt Mairead will be killed off

Do we know how Elaine and Mark got together?

Buckley and Fidelma said Mark's service firearm had been confiscated as he was deemed unfit to carry one due to his unstable behaviour but they were running a check to see if he had ever owned a personal firearm. To be fair owning a gun in Ireland is legal as long you meet certain criteria which Mark probably did before going mental. I don't know if FC are using Mark now as a social commentary on some of the recent incidents within the Defense Forces in Ireland but it's starting to look that way. I wonder will there be a mention of it onscreen of the DF not being diligent enough to check for and confiscate his personal firearm after he was deemed unfit to carry a service weapon?

Yeah the scenes outside the pub were ridiculous and didn't fit with the tone of the episode at all. Why was Carol trying to get in to pay her respects? She'd already been at the memorial earier in the day and Damo, Dolly and Mairead are drinking in the Station every other afternoon and evening anyway so she could catch them then. Ray, Pete and Paul congregating there too was weird.

Don't know if Mairead's being written out but I'd say it's unlikely. They'll probably want to make use of that set with the same hospital bed Carol, Damo, Nora, Paul, Victor and Joan have used the last couple of years. I'd say it's Maireads turn in it so the actress can earn some easy money and catch a few Zs at the same time.

Was it weird that nobody noticed Mairead had been shot and she didn't make a sound? I wouldn't have thought a shot to the abdomen would cause immediate loss of consciousness and surely she'd at least give some sort of yelp or say "Ow".

Did Joan really need to give Veronica that much detail when ordering the water? Instead of saying "Can I get a water" i think she said something like "Can i get a water before my train journey for my trip". Was she trying to rub Veronica's nose in her holiday or what? Seemed like very clunky dialogue

I would have thought an armed hostage situation would warrant a couple ambulances with the police response anyway, just in case. Not something that needed to be called once they realised Mairead had been shot. The gardai were completely useless, none of them have basic lifesaving training? None of them rushing to radio for an ambulance either.

So we know Mairead was shot, then Pete turned up outside, went and had whatever meeting he had at the garage and was back having a drink in the Station, all the while Mairead is still in the pub wounded? I know the paramedics needed to stabilise her but it seemed like an abnormally long amount of time for her to be just lying there and not on the way to hospital.

One of the unintentionally funniest and most incongruous things ever on Fair City (and that's really saying something)

    Did anyone drink coffee yesterday?

The overuse of the community centre is quite bonkers at this point. Every single character on the show seems to be there every day of the week - who on earth would go to a community centre to have a coffee or to meet someone? There must be loads of cafes in the area.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,226 ✭✭✭bcklschaps

You can't drink coffee out of an empty cup 🚯

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,226 ✭✭✭bcklschaps

Most of the meet-ups in the community center happen accidentally.... soo the Carrigstown crew do be seemingly milling about in there all day. Its almost like a convenience store..... oh wait, they haven't got a convenience store anymore soo needs must I guess??

we will now have the aul love triangle around the hospital bed of the stricken mairead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,333 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

A community centre is somewhere you might go to once a week to attend a class or whatever and they are usually closed at the weekend. I have never heard of anyone going to one to have a coffee or to meet someone - that's what cafes, pubs, restaurants and fast food places are for.

...well Dean and Danien have already both donated an organ to Mairead

I believe it's all coinciding with an extended holiday for mairead

Yeah Cagney and Lacey bursting in without back up, no swat teams and no cordon set up around a crime scene.
