Just serviced days ago, did a 100km judder shudder home last night (smooth drive, then brief pull-checking, then serious shudder, back to smooth). "Check Injection" warning to Engine light on dash over the trip. today discovered cream gunk like substance in oil filler area under cap.

Sunday, and Renault Assistance is off line, will chase dealer garage tomorrow.

Can clearing that substance and working through "condensation" work itself out to smooth driving or is this serious warning. Oil dip looks normal.

car is driven daily with heavy driving 2 days a week, 100s KM on those days, we need the car to go every Friday Saturday, cannot be stuck! no replays!

Apparently the cream gunk is a red herring from a forum, now considered normal on Hybrids.

Shudder = spark plug issue injector misfire. May be spark plugs are faulty.

I wouldn't consider creamy oil 'normal' under any circumstance. It signifies water in the oil and that could be a head gasket gone. I'd be having a very close look at that.

Creamy gunk can appear under the oil cap in cars that are driven infrequently or for short distances that never get warmed up properly. It doesn't sound like the OP's car fits into this category though.

Coilpack faults used to be common enough on Renaults, that does sound like the more likely cause.

If its only on the cap its normal enough - if its actually mixed with the oil and the oil itself can be seen to be creamy white - its a head gasket.

My own take on it is that the oil these days is gotten so thin - almost like water (0w20,0w30) that it actually evaporates slightly causing the deposit on the oil filler cap / or area around the oil filler cap. I could be wrong but its a fairly newish phenomenon with the newer lighter oils.

Never ever saw it with heavier oils ( 5w30 / 5w40 / 10w40 etc) unless the head gasket was actually gone.

Dealer just rang, 1 spark plug misfire, changed all 3 to be sure. off to collect it, hopefully all good from here.
