My latest license (past month) has Substituted Unrestricted Firearms Certificate on it, I've had several subs in the past but none ever had this wording on any of them.

If you are licensing night vision does that mean you have to pay another €80?

How can an optical instrument be a firearm.

What do you need security wise for a restricted firearm? That's something I hadn't considered about getting NV.

Courtsey again,of people in power,not knowing arse from elbow looking for quick fixes and to be seen to be"doing something" As the red top rags were giving out along with the aGS in one of their conferences about the proliferation of X bows and the great Ninja wars of the late 1980s,not to mind the lost tribes of pygmy head hunters in Co Meath with their blowguns and posion darts were getting out of hand on the streets of Irish cities,so such dangerous things like nunchucks ,and soft metal throwing stars.and lots of other cool and needing LOTS of practise even to be vaugely proficent martial arts weapons had to be banned,and of course add on gold plating was added in making NV optics and silencers ,instead of making them liscenseable accessories,were made firearms in their own right.End result is this mess we have today,where an optical instrument is considerd as leathl,along with a high tech /low tech sporting device, as a 357 magnum and must be treated the same.
