    Hey folks.

Bar the AA or adding it on your insurance policy, who sells breakdown assistance policies independently in Ireland?

Does anyone come close to what the AA offer including their nationwide coverage?

Some car manufacturers give breakdown assistance with new cars but it's usually time limited

I had to get breakdown assistance out recently through my insurance and an RAC van turned up, so they're obviously active here

The guy from RAC was telling me that if you need a tow you kind of get what you pay for and the insurance companies go to the lowest bidder. I get the impression the tow trucks are all sub-contractors anyway

So it seems AA might be the better option for service

Some manufacturers also offer free roadside assist if you get your car serviced at approved garages.

👍Good to know. Did you have roadside assist on your insurance too? (If so, why go with VW assist … or is it pretty much the same?)

I just went with the AA in the end as their rescue plus package covering me, and nationwide tow was better than what's offered through my insurance.

Didn't seem to be any other providers
