    Ok this sounds good.

Predator: Badlands Will Have The Predator As Its Hero: ‘The Creature Is Front And Centre’

    That could actually work.

We have seen elements of The Predator as the good guy in Alien vs Predator and Predators.

Im looking forward to this now.

    That looks very promising.

One of the trophy skulls on the ship at the start looks like one from another franchise (not Alien). The idea of a predator running amok on their home world or on one of their hive stations is gas.

Predator looks terrible, the idea sounds terrible. Looks like some Star Wars spin off series.

so many original ideas and events in history to stick a Predator, and not some cgi bastardization of the original creature but a guy in a suit, into and make a good movie. Kevin Peter Hall put so much work into the original creature and its movements etc. and now its lost its menace and what made it iconic looking. Shame where they are leading this and other iconic frachises

There's really just one good Predator movie and that's the first one.

Everything else has been a futile exercise (to various levels) in trying to recapture lightning in a bottle. This sequel looks to be no different.

Predator works so well in its simplicity. It doesn't need sequels that try to create a lore, it really ruins the monster element of what made the original so great.

Worryingly they seem to be trying to rehash

the connected universe with the Aliens series.

The upcoming animated series looks far more interesting to me.

Wow, way to miscalculate what people wanted after Prey.

Era nobody knows what they actually want. Ultimately people just want things that are good. If this thing is good, people will like it. If it's bad they won't.

I can always appreciate a bit of swing in a new direction though, making the predator the protagonist. we'll see how they handle it.

Looks Interesting but then again i liked AvP and Predators so my taste is outside the norm

Okay but people have to feel invested in an interesting premise. Not a guarantee they will go see it, but no more so than if it is good.

Very difficult to capture the magic of the first Predator, watching it for the first time the Predator is this mysterious creature, and the film builds to his reveal and the climatic fight with Dutch, who survives but doesn't really win. All subsequent Predator films suffer from the lack of mystery around the Predator which is simply impossible to replicate.

Obviously without the original Predator film the other Predator films don't get made, but, not sure any of the other films would by themselves had led to subsequent films, even Prey which is the best of the subsequent films probably on it's own wouldn't have led to a sequal, the franchise is still living off and trying to recapture the magic of the first film.

Having said all that I have enjoyed most of the films in the franchise for different reasons, the quality has varied wildly; Predator and Prey are clearly the best of the bunch. Will be interesting to see what the new film brings, hopefully they keep the plot simple ( like Predator and Prey) and not too convoluted.

Oh yeah, for sure. Like, you definitely have to get your marketing right. There's no shortage of great movies that flopped because of either not marketing a movie well so no-one goes, or misrepresenting a movie in the marketing so those that go are disappointed (because they went looking for something else) and word of mouth hurts it. The window to get your concept out there and make your money at the box office is short.

I mean, even the original Predator wasn't anywhere near as appreciated in its time, the reviews were largely pretty poor — it's only in hindsight that its viewed as a peak 80s action classic.

For this one, I'm personally probably a little more interested in this take than going down the "cowboys versus Predator", or "Ninjas versus Predator" with a copy/paste story on each era. But it has to be done well. I hope they keep it quite simple, with a lot more show-don't-tell as to how Predator's do their thing.

I would put Prey as third with the first and second films taking the respective top spots. I always had a soft spot for Predator 2, it obviously draws on the trope of heat and conflict from the first and adds a little more to the mythos towards the end without overdoing it.

I think my own ranking is Predator, then Prey, then Predators (such a fun movie!) then Predator 2, then (way behind) the 2018 'The Predator'.

The second one though was entertaining and a cool concept. On first watch that is a very enjoyable flick, some original ideas, and the last scene is excellent. After that the whole concept became a video game.

Agreed, the sequel was a great film I never understood why some people love to crap on it.

I also liked Predators, would be next after Predator and Prey. Haven't seen Predator 2 in ages, from memory it was OK, but, I remember it being a big letdown compared to the original at the time.

Danny Glover was no substitute for Arnie.

    Terribly miscast in the film.
