    Anyone experienced any of these issues;

    1. The mower won't leave the base station. It will say mowing but won't move and if left will give a mower lifted error. If I give it a little push it will move out.

    2. Sometimes when it leaves the base station it will say mowing and move around but has a continuous beep and is not actually mowing. It will do this for a while and then throw up the mower lifted error

    3. It will sometimes move forward a few inches then back or side to side. It beeps continuously and does these random small movements and then gives the mower lifted error.

    Sometimes it actually works fine.

Can anyone who had similar issues help me. A brand new unit. Set up as i should.... green light on base station. When in station i get error loop signal lost. When i put unit in middle of small area i get the message mower outside.

Where did you get a new unit at this time of year - they usually not in stores for another month ?

Anyway, to answer you question, I'd say you could have a broken boundary wire but first make sure your connection to the charging station is secure.

You can also try reversing the loop wires. For some reason ours is backwards to what seemed correct. It means the guide wires actually cross over each other when layed properly.

Thanks for coming back to me.

I bought privately from someone who got a warranty replacementa few weeks back. Looking like that might not be a good thing now.

I am usually handy with these things.

    - have changed up boundry wires in a 15sqm space

    - have tested 2 diff base stations

    - have checked connectors in back. All good.

    - removed the batt for 24 hours and reset.

    - No wires crossing

If i set up with positive boundry wire coming out and around in a loop ( as per pic on station) all i will get is loop signal lost. If I reverse the polarity then the unit searches for the signal, finds it and then shows mower outside error. If it makes any diff i dont get any message when i press the emergency stop button.... not sure if i am suppsed to but it wouldnmake sense.

I currently have 2 but am using extra one to diagnose what my issue is. You are welcome to my extra one once i figure out what my issue is.

    hi my friends…

Does anybody know, how to easily disassemble wheels?…Don't want to break anything… I bought spikes for wheels and would like to mount them on inner side of wheels…

    thanks

Update on this. Got a swift replacement from parkside customer service. New one works perfect on old set up. So original unit was faulty.

Glad you got sorted - was it the Base Station or the Mower itself that was the issue ?

I have the PMRA 20-Li B2 500m2 model. Worked fine last year but this year I keep getting “Hardware error (3)”

Can’t find out what this means. Any ideas?

Power Supply gone in mower, looked online but couldnt find any ( grizzly are out of stock ). Any one know where I could get one - or a generic outdoor 22v 2.5a psu with the right connector ?

    Thanks,

Hi, there is this adjustable supply available from Amazon: "TobeBright 3V-24V 120W Power Supply Adjustable". It may not be suitable for outdoor use but if you are stuck, maybe you could keep it indoors and run the output to your mower station?

22V *2.5A is 55W so it seems to be powerful enough

Mine failed to start after winter. Lidl very kndly replaced and allowed me to keep old one,. So I thought the base station or mower broken ?

The new mower wont work with old base station and old mower wont work with new Base . Old Power supply will work with new one and presumably worked with old base(it did last year). New mower works great as old one did lastyearI would hate to throw out as surely only either the base or mower is broken and nice to have replacement if something fail.

How can Lidl keep replacing them with minimum of questions and never ask to do any checks.

Is mower paired to base station ?

Power supply gone in one of mine aswell. Don't have 22V at the pins. I have a 500m one for smaller garden so I'm able to limp along. I called the helpline and was told they would send out a replacement. Seemed a bit too easy 🤔. Wonder is leaving power supply out in the weather affecting them as seems to be common enough here

Yeah I'll be taking mine in next winter anyway.

Also, not charging the battery over the winter is probably not a good idea either.

Don't think its been discussed here before but I wonder how much it costs in electricity to run these mowers ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8 S Leictreachas

Hi, the very first post on page 1 of this discussion has an excellent and comprehensive review (from mac25) which covers running costs amongst other things.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,037 ✭✭✭Exiled Rebel

I don't have the mower but can answer the question.

My energia electricity tariff averages 19 cents per kWh (25 day / 13 cents night).

The lawnmower has a 2Ah battery (2Ah x 20V = 0.04kWh) which, using my average tariff, works out at less than 1 cent per hour to run (0.04kWh x 19 cents = 0.074 cents).

Not everyone's electricity tariffs are the same (and some have solar 🤣) but even at double my tariff the running costs are negligible.

Cheaper than buying petrol so for the ride-on I'd imagine.

    Most definitely.

The battery is surprisingly small. The batteries for my DeWalt power tools have double the size at 4Ah. You would think they could have designed the mower to take a 4 or 6Ah battery.

See these mowers are back into LIDL on 1st May.

I didn't bother buying the cover for mine last year and still haven't made one so just wondering for those of you that bought the covers would ye recommend them or am I better off to just the finger out and make one ?

From looking at it today on the website today I don't think their one offers too much shelter anyway.

    Hi Folks,

It’s time for a brief update on my original review posted at the start of this thread. It is now my third season running the Lidl 20V robot mowers.I originally bought two of them in Summer 2023. These were the original models and both developed issues. The first one was caused by water ingress around the keypad and water got in and corroded the ribbon cable that resulted in me being unable to turn the mower on.The second one developed a problem with one of the wheel motors and the wheel would just stop turning if it got slightly stuck leaving the other wheel still turning and running down the battery. Now I was running the second mower for 17 hours a day as I was moving it between lawns to make up for the loss of my first mower which may have been too much work for it.

I reported my issues to Lidl support and they offered me a full refund. I did not want to take a refund as I wanted the mowers and I opted to wait until they got stock back in. I suspect Lidl’s partners only manufacture once or twice a year and you simply have to wait until the next manufacturing run before you will receive your replacement. Anyway, a DPD courier turned up at my door unexpectedly one morning with two new replacement mowers! Lidl did not want my old mowers back. The DPD courier told me they received about 40 of them at the warehouse. I do suspect Lidl have a fairly high return rate on these mower with some being returned due to user error when the base station is not installed correctly and others due to genuine faults.

I was able to make a third working mower by removing the bottom section from the mower with the faulty keypad and using the top section from the mower with the faulty wheel motor. I also have two new base stations as I used my old base stations with the new mowers.

Another issue I found with the mowers is one or both of the front wheels will eventually fall off. This is due to a poor quality circlip holding the wheels on the steel wheel shafts. The original clips simply rust away and the wheel falls off. This is very easily fixed by removing the wheels, and opening up both wheel sections by removing the three screws and replacing the circlip with a better quality one. I purchased a pack of stainless steel circlips from Amazon for about 12euros and replaced the clips on the front wheels of all my robot mowers. I think it was the 6MM one. You can see the thin original rusty circlip in the photo with the single wheel compared to the more robust stainless steel one I replaced it with.

Link to the replacement blades I used. The blades fit but the screws do not. You have to use the original screws holding the blades if they are not too rusty.

The performance of the new generation mowers I received last Summer with the slightly raised keypad seems to be even better that the original mowers. They both cut the grass very well, but the newer generation mowers have far less problems when docking at the base stations. They seem to dock correctly first time every time when the previous generation often ended up going around the loop again to try and dock a second time. The docking issue with the original mowers may have since been fixed by a firmware update. My base stations positions have not changed. It is still very important to install your base station correctly as I explained in my original review.

Now I was still worried about water ingress on the newer models, although the keypad has been re-designed. I ran a bead of clear silicone around the keypad section on my new mowers just in case. I did not run the silicone around the stop button section to allow for drainage.

I also note some people have had problems with their base stations at the start of this mowing season. Always bring in your base stations during the winter and I would encourage people to buy the base station enclosure or build one yourself like I described in my original review to protect the mower from heavy rain. The new models have to be manually set off again when the rain sensor activates and the mower to return to base. This was not the case on the older models which kept trying to go out in the rain once the rain sensor dried out.

Leaving aside the issues with the original 2023 models as I explained above, I am still very pleased with the performance of these mowers. You

simply can not beat the value you get with these mowers when compared to other manufacturers models costing many thousands with smaller and far more expensive batteries. If the 1000M2 model is not big enough for you,buy two of them or you could try extending your boundary cable as I explained in my original review. If the mowers develop a fault with the front wheel falling off, fix it yourself! If there is a more serious fault, simply report it to Lidl support and wait for a replacement. You should always keep your original petrol or electric push mower as a backup if possible.

In summary, I still recommend picking one of these mowers up if you have decided a robot mower is right for your garden and you want to save some money. The 500m2 model is back on sale in Ireland on the 1stMay 2025. I reckon the 1000M2 model will follow later in May. If you want one, get to your local Lidl store before it opens and wait inline or you may miss out!

I would appreciate if an admin could link this updated review to my original to save people time reading all the replies!

    Hi everybody,

like an old fart I just realized I forgot the PIN for my mower after the winter break? any suggestion? Removing the battery will be enough?

Thanks to anyone who can help

Must say this was a great follow up post and original post is A1 too, its the reason i bought mine. It gets stuck the odd time and has some foibles but has been brilliant since i got it. I get to do something else (gardening/relaxing) rather than cut the lawn which i dont particularly like. I dont run it in the rain and i brought it inside for some of the winter, maybe 2m. It lives under the wheelbarrow mostly, i had planned on building a garage but i think ill just buy the one in Lidl.

In regards the rust issues, i ride motorbikes and i use ACF50 for winter treating the daily twice yearly. Safe with electrics and you can just brush it on but it might help these guys last a bit longer. The main thing im worried about is entering the PIN code so much and wearing out the buttons!

Folks I cannot get the thread search function here anymore - 500m version LCD is blank since yesterday. I have removed the battery overnight but it did not bring it back to life, buttons are still responsive and makes all the correct beeps. Does anyone have history of reviving after this fault or does anyone have a spare lcd for sale? Unit is still under warranty but prefer to repair for now.

    Hi

Lidl and aldi both have what seems to be similar robotic mowers coming to the shops soon. Anyone have any idea which would be the best purchase???

Anyone have opinions on whether the garage is worth buying ?

Does it protect the electric end of the base station from rain etc. or just a basic cover for the mower?

It's a pretty basic cover tbf, more of a canopy than a proper cover but it can be used as the basis for making a proper cover I'd say.
