I'd be happy enough with the performance. Great intensity and workrate but plenty of room to improve as well.

Lynch was excellent, the amount of dirty ball he won was outstanding. The jury's probably out on Hayes at 11 as to whether its where he's most needed, he was very good in the first half and faded slightly during the second.

English very good at midfield, he's some stylish player, but missed three very scorable chances in the closing stages. The Hawkeye one was questionable. U

Hegarty did OK but has more gears that he'll need to use. Morrissey's radar was off.

Reidy worked OK at 15 but good to see Casey showing some nice touches when he came on, and he's a better option for that position.

Byrnes a mixed bag, 2 bad errors led to Tipp points in the first half. Some good long range scores and a couple missed as well.

The few minutes before half time were unfortunate. Connolly landed three massive frees, all of which were unlucky to concede. English blown for a couple of tackles that were no different from many others that were let go. Limerick got a couple of lucky decisions also.

    Nash was excellent in defence.

Jake Morris tipps best player. Drifted all over the field and caused trouble.

Funny to see the Dome packed full of Limerick and Tipp fans all loudly cheering Clare on beforehand.....

I think he's best deployed in the half back line. His distribution especially cross field balls is very good, he's a good shooter from distance, and when gets running from deep he's hard to stop.

Shane O'Brien looks a class player. He could be a real star in the championship.

Was crazy in the dome beforehand, shouts of up the banner and all… I mean we all want Cork to lose but to be roaring and shouting for Clare was a strange one.

Hayes looing class early on and can play anywhere but we Hannon already out I think taking another all star out of half back line was not a good idea. DOD on the bench and got no time at all odd too. Was worried leaving there but we've never won there in round robin.

What I find weirdest of all was that we only made 2 subs.

Very strange a bit like the AI semi final i thought the changes that came were too late, and could have been 1 or2 more

Feels strange to me that Limerick or Tipp would be shouting for last year's AI winners against a team that has won…what?…one league in two decades? Am I being overly harsh here? As I see it, Clare are only going to improve as this year goes on, there's an opportunity to get them at their lowest now while they're finding their feet.

Similar with Limerick, I feel this side will improve as the year goes on too. The closeness of the game should stand to them.

Cork, I think might have peaked too soon. And they also seem to have no answer when teams start "getting up close" (RTE speak). Tough fellas and hard workers but there's no real guile there at all. So unless teams allow them to play free open hurling, they're screwed. I think Clare have the measure of Cork all day long as a result, and I think Limerick will be well able to play that game too tbh.

Ironically I think the draw rather than a win may have been a better result in long term. Had Tipp lost they would most likely been out of the championship if they lost to Cork. Now if they lose to Cork they will still go to Ennis needing a win and have the potential to turn Clare over. Also the draw focuses the mind for Limerick going to Waterford and there should be no risk of complacency setting in. Overall I think JK will be happy enough. The hunger is still there, no injuries and a few of the new starters SOB, AEnglish and B Murphy were solid. Lack of pace in the H/B line is still a problem. WOD is missed at midfield and Kyle is better as a wing back than a centre forward. I'd expect some changes to that middle diamond for the Waterford match. Could DOD come back in releasing Cian to Centre forward. Also I don't ever remember JK only using 2 subs. Not sure if he felt the games was too close to risk throwing in inexperience players.

If DOD didn't get minutes against Tipp I couldn't see him coming in to start against Waterford.

The KH to 11 and WOD to 6 makes little sense to me. What exactly was gained from the league? I would have thought JK was using that to work on new structures and KH looked a nailed on starter at 6 and a player to build around - good for those around him to understand any changes they need to make to their game to work as a cohesive unit - I can only presume they have trained a lot with this formation? If he shifts back to 6 the next day then it will start to be a bit of a worry. And how fit can Nickie Quaid be? I hope the knee is 100% and he's not risking things but maybe the initial injury wasn't as bad as everyone believed. I thought Shane Dowling looked good enough during the league to start but seems management think NQ in his current state of health is a better option. Impossible to really judge after 1 game so we'll sit tight and let those that have won a bunch of All-Irelands do their thing!

U 2o's unlucky tonight, just goes to show there nothing between any of the u 20 teams this year

    Nothing unlucky about Limerick's defeat.

Cork showed great character to score 4 of the last 5 points to win by 2 away from home.

Only a puck of a ball between any of the munster teams

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 ZhangAnda

    That may be.

But Limerick still weren't unlucky tonight as per your original claim.

It was a good game between two evenly matched teams.

But Cork deserved to win as they grabbed that game by the scruff in the last few minutes to secure victory

you’ve got to be disciplined with the standard of free takers now at all grades. Jersey pulls, pulls on arms of players going nowhere are punished. Last free before half time 3 limerick lads against one Cork lad over by sideline - hold him up, force him to play the ball under pressure but don’t grab his arm and swing him round - result free and point. At the same time limerick weren’t getting many frees as the overall free count showed.
