I emailed the Sunday Times about 15 years ago to tell them that their frequency listings were out of date. They showed 2 FM on 612 and 1278 kHz, for instance. It took about another 10 years for them to change things. Their current listing still give a little nod to the past. Radio 4 LW 198 kHz (1515 m).

I heard a pirate on 94.3 earlier playing 60s music. No RDS or ID but would strongly guess it’s the return of RetroFM.

"ABC 93FM" was on 93.3 FM early this afternoon. I wonder will there be a couple on around Dublin tomorrow.

One to look out for from 24 March in Dublin, Hide FM 94.3. A station for birdwatchers.

interesting to see Together FM on that list of temp stations. I take it this is the latest reincarnation of WDCR/WDAR and if so why are they still being entertained by the BAI?

ABC on again today with their country music afternoons.

Nothing heard on 94.3 ,which might be wise given the pending arrival of Hide FM..

There was a station with no id or RDS playing oldies from the 60s to the 80s today on 99.5 FM. That could be Retro FM testing (and staying away from 94.3), or maybe it is connected to the former MW pirate Energy AM, as it used to be relayed on 99.5 FM and indeed turned up again after the MW transmitter went silent.

Newstalk seem to have moved from 107.2 down to 107.1 in the last two weeks. Newstalk on 107.1 seem much stronger in West Dublin now, perhaps this is to keep pirates off 107.1 ?

There has been a thread since last Monday week about Newstalk's 107.1 frequency as it was noticed two weekends back:

When I was driving near Dundrum (Dublin) just before lunchtime, I happened to pick up a station on 108.0 FM playing dance music. It dropped in and out around Ballinteer. Any ideas about this? It would be interesting (and very surprising) if it was a new pirate.

Probably just an in-car transmitter to link someone's music player to their car radio in a car travelling in same direction as you.

These are often on 108.0 or 87. *

was up the Dublin mountains earlier and heard ABC back on 93.3

105.7 was a well processed signal playing old school dance tunes with no ID; I’m putting this one down as the pirate that I’ve heard before in Wicklow Town (Rad105.7).

TogetherFM on 96.0 from Ballyfermot getting hammered by BBC on same frequency.

Very strong signal on 98.4 was playing Billy Joel; would guess that it’s Energy from Isle of Man but doesn’t suit their format (also no sign of it on their websites ‘just played’ section).

RX site was up near the Noel Lemass memorial around Glassamucky)

Anyone know what's going on with the temp transponder 105.5 signal in Limerick?

Someone started a thread in AH and I said I'd ask in here :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,790 ✭✭✭Glaceon

I threw the clip from the AH thread into Audacity and sped it up by 8x. It's a snippet of a song but I don't know what the song is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,662 ✭✭✭marcbrophy

Yeah, it would probably need to be about 5 mins long, to get a 5 sec segment at normal speed!

Anyway, transmissions have suddenly ended, so maybe someone spotted my post, maybe it was a coincidence :)

DAB Block 7C now active in the Dublin area, carrying a single service labelled "Sionnach" (Irish for fox) with a test tone for the new FáilteDAB.

Now on air.......a freedom of information request on this expenditure would be interesting

That's the type of station that is perfectly suited for an online stream. The same tiny handful of listeners can enjoy it at almost no cost to the public.

I am getting Hide FM in Dundalk on a portable.

good conditions in South Dublin this morning. Holme Moss romping in and wiping out the usually reliable Q Radio on 101.1 as well as resolving RDS for BBC Radio 4 on 93.7.

Radio Manchester (also Holme Moss) very clear on 95.1 and Spin SW battling through the dirt and audible on 94.7. RX site was Rathfarnham Castle

7 of Talksport UK's remaining AM transmitters closed down yesterday (11 remain). Lisnagarvey on 1089AM is among those that closed. Still decent reception on 1089 though here in Dundalk. Most likely coming from Mooreside Edge, which is a pretty powerful Tx at 400KW.

Enhanced tropo conditions on the afternoon of the 7 April and Cork C103 was rock solid over here in Pembrokehire wiping out Nation radio - no loss there !

This was on a XHDATA D-8O8 with it's telescopic antenna enjoying the sun in the garden .Best signal was on 103.3mhz.

    Nice station

managed to catch Energy from the Isle of Man on 105.2 a few days ago (a low power tx too according to the web) and Heart blasting into South Dublin on 107.2 this afternoon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 825 ✭✭✭TheBMG

was up in Sandyford earlier with a quick bandscan.

    ABC 80s on 93.3.

Retro wasting no time nabbing 94.3 after HideFM finished their run (wonder how many bird watchers got a surprise)

Energy (from Meath?) on 103.0. Haven’t heard them for a number of years so wasn’t certain they were still going .. but they are! Barely audible but that 103.0 frequency isn’t the cleanest

Offshore pirate radio feature with 1960s music on Newstalk right now until midnight (presented by Ritchie McCormac instead of Tom Dunne).
