Sick of moral victories to be honest.

The new rules have made football a lot easier and more enjoyable to watch

agreed, we absolutely threw it away tbh, you’ll never have a better chance to beat them.

We had 4 wides in normal time, and 9 in extra time. Brutal really

I remember in 2015 we drew with Kerry when we should have won. They beat us in the replay and we were then put of the championship by an ordinary enough Kildare team. If we can build on this and get to a quarter final then it would be a decent enough year. Until we get back up to division one in the league then we'll continue to be also rans in football imo.

Probably got stage fright when we could smell victory but if we can play like this again we be hard to beat.

it wasn't stage fright it was simply lack of composure , we had a few close games against kerry in the last 10 years in ennis and that's what cost us too , the one thing that has to be commended by that cork performance is the heart shown tonight it was an excellent effort

im bit like you. Now in fairness bookies gave us little chance and we lost to decent team.

My issue is can they push on from this. We have played and even beaten kerry the mere once only to be utterly embarrassed down the road.

History has told me not to hold my breath.

Cork losing the plot. Lost discipline and allowed themselves to be wound up by Clare.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,282 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

We're very comfortable right now against Clare in Ennis with a couple of minutes to go. It looks like Clare didn't throw the league game a few weeks ago, they really were that bad!

Dishing out a comprehensive beating to the all Ireland champions in their own backyard would be a strong statement of intent from us.

Edit: Oh dear spoke too soon!

A test of our character and maturity now Clare have brought our lead down to a point.

A disgraceful performance in the 2nd half. No All Ireland in that team.

Teams are level now unbelievable collapse from us!

Lucky to get a draw. All the skill and physicality needed to win it out but got dragged into needless niggly and off-the-ball crap. Gone from a team that was too soft a few years ago and now not knowing when to rein it in.

Footballers missing the forwards to compete with teams like Kerry consistently. Our level is division 2 and it shows. Good opportunity missed.

It's ends as a draw and beforehand i'd be happy enough to depart from Ennis with the draw and at least we salvaged a point in the end. This was a game we really should have won though considering we were ahead by ten points in the closing stages, although the Cork sending off obviously did not help things.

Discipline isn't great which is very disappointing. Dragged into off the ball stuff and reacted poorly. Needs to rein that crap in. Other teams will take advantage and wind them up.

They wont win anything, they just dont know how to close out games.

Moronic sending off, cant be playing against Clare in Ennis a man down.

Clare dragged Cork down to their level, made it a scrappy game, which they love.

Not a hope in hell after today. We are bang average. To throw away a 12 point lead like that is unforgivable. We scored only 9 points in the 2nd half. Clare got 3-11

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,170 ✭✭✭thefa

It’s probably no harm to have gotten a bit of a wake up call and got away with a point. Plenty were getting ahead of themselves.

Pat Ryan needs to sort out the discipline. Very poor today. It's great that we're no longer pushovers but they've gone too far the other way now. The likes of Clare and Limerick will make hay by dragging Cork into battles and we'll end up getting fellas sent off.

Happy with the draw. 2 home wins are now needed and a free swing at Limerick.

This game will stand to Cork going forward.

Bit like you, but at least it was only minimum damage.

Its huge worry though going forward.

Not happy with a draw with a 12 point halftime lead. Shocking lack of discipline in the second half combined with inability to see out a comfortable lead. Haunted to get the draw in the end. Very poor stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,282 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

Flashbacks of that 2018 all Ireland semi final against Limerick there. The team is good enough to go all the way but we're prone to these phases where we just go completely out of the game.

Keeping our discipline is possibly another issue but on the flip side of that people like me where saying over the years that Cork teams were too soft as well, but you have to stand up for yourself and show some toughness in a smart and disciplined way.

Outside of Clare, Limerick and possibly Kilkenny the rest of the field is bang average, so i still think there's an all Ireland in this team.

There was alot of needless fouling.

Grabbing players around the waist and shoulder. Alot of wrapping the hurley around the neck, no place for that in the game.

Lost their heads Cork, Clare have that knack of making it a physical battle and Cork wont win those type of games.

Its the first game out of the way, one of the 2 difficult away games.

At least it wasnt a loss.

With a minute left, would you have been happy with the draw? Of course you would.

Cork have a draw from an away game versus the All Ireland Champions. I would have taken that before the throw in.

Lessons are there to be learned. Let's see if we learn them.

The doom and gloom is just reactionary from being 12 up - game of two halves happen. We need to learn from the mistakes we made. If we do, it will stand to us later in the championship.

Win the 2 home games and we are in a great position.

9 points up with 8 minutes to go. Are you saying you're happy that from that position we scraped a draw? Let's be real here, it was a dreadful collapse. Should never have come down to having to a draw with the last puck of the game.
