from everything Klopp’s said since leaving, I don’t think he’ll take a club job again.

As for Real, yeah, Xabi’s nailed on for that. Be really surprised if he’s not there next year.

Just in case people don't see it, here's an article on the bbc about TAAs potential replacements:

If we sign Kerkez and Huijsen, which are heavily rumoured, I don’t think we’ll sign another defender.

That would leave Bradley as number one right back with Joe Gomez and Huijsen potentially as the back ups.

I have a feeling that Bajcetic will fill in as utility player. Full back might be the safest position for him to develop the defensive side of his game and still allow him to use the ball when in possession.

It's a load of click bait rubbish. He only took up his current position at Red Bull in January and has said in a few interviews how it is far more enjoyable than being a manager and that he can not see himself ever returning to management at club level.

I have a feeling he'll be sold if we get any kind of offer for him. He hasn't improved much on loan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,608 ✭✭✭Talisman

He missed out on over a year due to the nature of the injury and that has to be factored into evaluating where he is with his development. The point of the loan this season was to get him minutes on the pitch he in a league that wouldn't be too taxing physically.

At Salzburg wasn't sharp, that was evident whenever he was on the pitch. At Las Palmas he looks much better but he still has lapses of concentration where the game gets away from him for a moment and then he deals with it quite aggressively.

It will be next season before his progress can be judged properly.

    100%

There's only 1 player on loan this season that Slot actually wants in the squad long term and that's Mamardashvili

Everyone else is waiting to be sold. Including Doak, Koumas, Bajčetic etc

Actually, assuming we win tomorrow, and assuming Arsenal get at least 4 points tomorrow and Wednesday, us winning the title at home to Spurs next week is the most likely outcome. The only thing that potentially stops that happening is us not winning tomorrow or Arsenal getting less than 4 points from their next two games. And even then it will only delay it or speed it up! But we've a great chance to win it at home against Spurs.

Yeah, totally misread it and thought spurs was our third match from here, losing track 🙈

Great stuff, winning at home and having a guard of honour at Stamford Bridge would be sweet

To be honest, I'd sell Mamardashvili too. He has had a poor season and I'm not convinced he's any better than Jaros. I'd sooner keep Caoimhin.

He was the standout keeper at the last Euros and statistically one of the best last season too across the top 5 leagues. I don't think it's fair to compare him to Jaros, whatever his future holds.

So, we could be crowned Champions tomorrow (though next week is more likely). The first time that's possible since 22nd May 2022 when we beat Wolves on the last day of the season, but City came back to beat Villa and win the league on 93 points, one more than our 92.

It's been a great season and it's gonna end with a trophy! :) I'm delighted, didn't expect it this year and after waiting 30 years to win the league, waiting another 5 was nowhere near as hard!

6/10. Kept a clean sheet and conceded 2 in his 2 games. So a goal every 90 mins. Not amazing, but not given enough opportunities to be match fit. Hence, I'd keep Caoimhin (which won't happen)

Mamardashvili’s last two games he was Man of the Match I thought?

Valencias new manager might have helped things

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,760 ✭✭✭✭8-10

He played 11mins in the game you're saying he 'kept a clean sheet'

It's honestly a bizarre opinion to say Mamardashvili should be sold before he's arrived. Awful message to put out there to other signings

Kelleher is hugely overrated by our fans. I'd be happy to see him stay as backup but wouldn't think much if he left.

He was incredible against Real Madrid. Saved a penalty and at least 2 of his saves were top drawer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 220 ✭✭Appletart Upsetter

Given Alisson's injury history, we need someone capable of playing 10 to 20 games a season and performing at a high level. Ideally, someone who has the potential to succeed Alisson in a few years.

I'm not convinced Kelleher is that person, so it would be good to see what Marmadashvilli can offer.

I really don’t think Kelleher is overrated. He’s an excellent keeper who has barely poor a foot wrong for us when asked, and he’s been regularly asked to over the last couple of seasons. He’s been part of some huge wins for us.

Time for him to head off to be a no.1 somewhere else anyway, hope he gets a decent move this summer, nice for him to head off with a PL title that he was a big part of.

    I think Kelleher is underrated.

He's an excellent keeper. Not at the same level as Allison who is world class, but he's in the next bracket of keepers for me.

Kelleher has been ideal in recent years, been happy and able to play those 20 games and not pushed for a move. Excellent deputy. We don't need 2 no1s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,382 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Whereas I agree Jaros hasn't played enough to be judged, Kelleher actually has and has broadly been excellent when called upon over a decent stretch and numerous spells.

I was amazed how some people's opinions seemed completely coloured by the Newcastle error. Days earlier he was stopping Mbappe from the spot, KDB in a 1v1 etc.

Are most Liverpool fans now hoping that Arsenal get 4-6 points in their next 2 matches, so Liverpool can win it on the pitch vs Spurs next week? Or would they prefer Ipswich to topple them today?

Personally, I'd love to see Arsenal keep it alive so Liverpool can win it Anfield against Spurs. Then there would still be 4 PL games left for the team to bask in the glory of being champions. It's a really great scenario to look forward to.

btw, I am completely dismissing the Leicester result from this conversation as I believe they are one of the worst sides ever to be in the PL - their recent record until last week's draw was a sight to behold.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,793 ✭✭✭facehugger99

I’d like to win the Title today.

Sooner the better as far as I’m concerned.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,760 ✭✭✭✭8-10

I hope Arsenal get 0 points today and we win the league at Leicester.

Have no interest in them staying in the race. I want to win the league

I didn't know they were playing Ipswich and didn't know their game was today until you mentioned it, but Ipswich are awful so I don't expect anything.

But of course I want them to lose! Don't you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,760 ✭✭✭✭8-10

So where are all the Champions League teams clambouring to sign him?

I keep seeing links to Bournemouth, Notts Forest, West Ham etc

If he's as good as people say he would have gotten offers last summer from the best teams in Europe.

Wait until the summer and you'll see his level by the clubs who actually would be interested in him

Chelsea maybe the biggest name, and they have 465 keepers on the books already.

He's been amazing for us, I fully agree, and I'd love him to stay as backup. But he's not a great loss if he goes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,449 ✭✭✭McBain11

No, I hope they keep it mathematically alive until next week, so Liverpool can win it on the pitch at Anfield vs Spurs. It's the most likely scenario anyway considering the fixtures.

Arsenal need 4-6 points vs Ipswich away and Palace at home to do that.

Can't see Arsenal getting less than 4pts from those fixtures anyway!

Spurs will be a tough one regardless.
