And ticket master only released tickets for the outer sections of stand while the sections around half way were empty for most part

How much were tickets for the rugby in MacHale Pk? Supposedly they were kept low to target families and they then got a capacity attendance. If the GAA can't learn from that you'd have to question whoever is making these decisions.

25 for stand and 20 uncovered. 5 for kids. So not too different really but they probably could have sold out at higher prices given the novelty / demand.

It really is baffling. Tickets for the match on Sunday should not have been any more than €20 each. There is not a whole lot between €20 and €30, but out of principle, many people would not pay the 30. When they were setting the prices, how could they not tell this. Mayo had 7 league games, and a final in Croke Park in approx. 10 weeks. That's expensive for those who go to several games. Many families view the Sligo and Leitrim games as "rest" weekends for themselves in terms of finances, and then pick up again at the Connacht final (assuming there is no big upset along the way). And there should be another 3 or 4 games minimum after that.

A different code but same idea..£20 for adults generally, £13 per game for season ticket holders. Bradford City FC

Is it the county boards that set the prices for championship or HQ? 30 was way off the mark in any case.

And no one on GAA+ during the game or The Sunday Game on RTE even brought it up.

It will be a problem if it happens and it changes the outcome of the game.

Must say I'm impressed by Aidan Oshea this year so far, getting in on the points is a good sign. Looks very mobile and focused too.

Perhaps I'm too easily triggered but I just find continued negativity with refusal to acknowledge any positivity a bit boring to be honest. Its just classic hurler on the ditch stuff and unless I'm mistaken there's only one household from that podcast with any all Ireland medals in it and no surprise that household tends to be the one with the more measured comments.

As for my comment on regurgitation - I just find that I see a lot more negative commentary on the same strands (not just here) tend to amplify once it gets a bit of an airing on the podcasts. For example - people whinging about changes to the team before throw in. Who really gives a shite?. Genuinely?. Its been explained countless times by managers that they're expected to name their starting team on a Thursday night - a lot can happen in between then and throw in so the answer really is to use squad numbers and leave it at that - if its enough of a problem, which it really isn't, unless people are just looking to whinge.

As regards my comments about people being worried about getting behind the team - I just find the sneering attitude towards the more vocal support a bit mean. Snide commentary about people standing up to applaud players and then last year when McStay asked the fans to roar on the team that was remarked as "embarrassing". In the past the supporters groups that asked people to "bring the noise" were referred to as "Lamps" and "Yahoos". It's no wonder people are staying quiet for fear of the derision.

And you're right - if people want to be negative, they have a right to be, but they shouldn't just get a free pass either when it's being put out there in that manner.

Galway, '22 minor champions, effectively out of the Connacht U20 Championship unless Leitrim shock Roscommon. It goes to show how minor at U17 is not a great predictor of success later.

The way I read it if head to head results determine ties we only need a draw against Sligo for a bye to the final, and if its scoring difference avoiding a 12point+ defeat gets us the bye.

    As I understand it:
    Mayo on 6, played 3
    Sligo on 4, played 3
    Roscommon on 3, played 3
    Galway on 3, played 4
    Leitrim on 0, played 3

It's head to head if two teams finish on same points, scoring difference if more than two teams on same points.
If Roscommon win/ draw vs Leitrim, Galway gone. Roscommon on 4 or 5 points
If Sligo beat Mayo, Sligo and Mayo 6 points: head to head Sligo through to Final. A draw or a loss for Sligo puts Mayo through to final.
If Sligo and Roscommon finish on same points (Roscommon draw and Sligo lose; Roscommon win and Sligo draw), head to head: Roscommon come second and have home advantage vs Sligo in semi.
    OR
Roscommon lose to Leitrim, head to head Roscommon/ Galway so scoring difference to see which of Ros/ Galway take 3rd spot.

Maybe I am just more pessimistic by nature but I don't really pick up on the negativity as much.

For the team sheet as an example, I would see comments around that as a bit of a running joke rather than any real annoyance or frustration. I'm talking about supporters in general rather than a podcaster or two there.

I think it's the nature of sport and supporters that there'll be lots of positivity and negativity around at times. And the negative is probably discussed more, I think that's human nature to a degree. It's also commonplace that media drives discussions in both ways as well.

Anyway, I'm not sure what else to add other than I wouldn't want to see people being afraid to be positive. I only wish I could be myself at this moment, and I look forward to being more positive again in the future.

For a 3 way tie it would have been a mini-league between the sides involved rather than straight to SD, but that one's irrelevant now the way the table has played out.

If Roscommon lost they'd lose out to Galway on SD regardless of the scoreline, so simplifies scenarios slightly where scorelines don't matter (even with their H2H being a draw) and it's all down to results at this point.

    - Any result for Mayo (draw/win) we top the group & in the final [with Sligo in the semi-final]
    - Any loss for Mayo we're in the semi-final [with Sligo in the final on H2H]
    - Any result for Roscommon (draw/win) & they make the semi-final
    - Any loss for Roscommon then Galway make the semi-final on score difference

No home advantages for Semi-Final or Final, both to be played in neutral venues (a few years ago Connacht ran into issues with Sligo refusing to play a Semi they'd earned home advantage for in Bekan to accommodate TG4 cameras, so they changed the rules on home advantage to avoid that in the future) according to the guidance we got on it last year.

4 from 4 for the U20s after a high scoring win against sligo. Straight into the final now while Sligo & Roscommon play in the SF

We have been turned over SEVEN times in 24 minutes against one of the worst teams in Ireland
We can’t win our own kickouts
    We can’t win theirs
And we are obsessed with hand passing the ball sideways .

Meanwhile we have Aido standing inside

I have no idea what the gameplan is anymore

    Really really worrying performance

I know there’s a lot of talk here about over negative comments, but christ that was bad.

It's an awful pitiful 'performance' so far. Shocking to watch, 7 turnovers, there's a young kid lording it for Leitrim up front. We seem to have an aversion to letting the ball in with any pace, slow lateral nonsense again. Imagine this from a James Horan side, I think we put 5-20 on them in 2021.

Callinan and McHale can’t start the final .

    Both awful again today

    no two pointers scored

    No goal chances created

I don’t know where we are going anymore

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 Arkiema

On this display only Ryan should start the final. This isn't a slight on McBrien but what is he offering at 6? It's such an important position but he's not scoring or assisting and not really impacting the game at all. We're completely rattled here, outfought by Leitrim

Agree completely on McBrien. I like him a lot but he adds nothing in a more attacking role

    Unacceptable on every level

    Absolutely disgusted with that

Same, I'd move him to the FB line and Hession to the half back line. I thought Callinan would be suited to CHB but he's been fairly average this year

Worrying times if you cant find the back of the net against Leitrim.

I'll reserve judgement until after the final, but i certainly wont be putting any money on them.

That was poor. We’ll be rightly written off for the Connacht final.

Didnt score between 58 and 68th minute
    Ate alive in midfield

Aido could be back out midfield for Connacht final at this rate
    Backwards we have gone
