    Hi, If the width of the wood in the architrave and the skirting board are both the same then the problem is that the door frame is projecting too far into the room. There's not much that you can do to correct this other than to take off the architrave and then realign or cut-down the whole frame. Honestly, I'd leave it as it's a bit of a job to correct this type of an issue as it will need correction of the plaster-work and the paint over the whole architrave.

    I'd look to take off the skirting and put another piece of timber behind it to bring it out flush.

    They shouldn't be flush. Architraves generally sit proud of the skirting. Although this is excessive.

    The reason it look bad is the simply the arch is too narrow for the skirting profile. Should be about 60%, this is ~40%.

    Another picture there. The carpenter that did the arcs cut back the rest of the doorframes before putting on the arcs as the doorframes come so far out from the wall but for some reason said he couldn't cut back this one and now we are left with this. Maybe will not look so obvious when painted ? Any other ideas to make it look less obvious that isn't a load of work ?

    honestly, I wouldn’t be worried about the arch on that side. Whatever is going on with the other side is more distracting
