We were absolutely brilliant the first 45 minutes. Hojlund played very well imo feeding Garna and Bruno but it took him away from the box.

I seriously think with a expiercend no.9 that can score goals we'd have killed the game early.

Our league position wouldn't be as bad either.

I'm repeating myself big time but please God let us get in a striker. Not a Delap mould in age but older and is proven.

Get someone like Cuhna in and the forward line looks way better, physical, can score but can drive the ball forward. Only player that does that is Garna with going forward.

    Some CM's as well.

GK leave for a season,he played well tbfalthough the score line doesn't reflect it. Punched out many a danger and made some good close saves.

If a front line is firing in goals it changes a game completeoy and your defence doesn't get at much.

We are UTD, always been, attack attack attack. We don't have that so should be priority

Shaw was only supposed to get 30 minutes, but had to come on at half time because Maz and Lindelof both had to leave due to separate family emergencies!

Ah no I'm delighted with the result, I'm not that bad 🙄

Keeps our season going with a good chance of silverware. But I'd have very little faith in Amorim from everything I've seen so far, performances have been dreadful and we very much got out of jail last night. Jury still on him as far as I'm concerned.

    Which is fair.

I'm thinking back to The arguments I had with people about ETH, and getting annoyed at results based analysis rather than looking at the performances and context.

So while I am fully behind amorim and think he simply doesn't have enough players capable of the key aspects needed for his vision - I can see there's a lot of blind faith there. If you're not convinced there's little to counter your view. And a game where we collapsed from 2-0 to 4-2 down, regardless of an insane 6 minutes, isn't going to move the needle towards support!

Put the young lad who is mad into United to bed at full time last night. It's his birthday today so be was awake at 6 and for first thing he asked was did we win. Didn't tell him and just put on the highlights instead. Sat watching him watching them, unreal (and perhaps a little cruel 🤣 ) to see him go from devastation to elation in the space of 2 minutes.

I just don't like the formation, to me it's always going to be a liability and I don't see a world where we get near the top of the table playing 3/5 at the back.

Our young players are regressing, Garna, Rasmus & Mainoo have all gone backwards since he joined, I know it's only been 6 months but I expected more.

Delighted to have got the result but not confident that the manager has us going in the right direction.

I went to rewatch the end... My recording stopped recording at 114 minutes.

Hope everyone is OK. On the plus side at least Maz isn't injured.

Not in the Europa squad. He will no doubt get plenty league minutes over the next few weeks with no other options there.

Forgot that, surprised they never included him given how awful we've been in front of goals.

Amorim said he is going to have to risk kids in the PL - wonder which ones are in line. Amass and Obi seem obvious. But Moorhouse for midfield? Fletcher? Mantato at RWB? Kukonki at the back?

The thing I like about Amorim is he doesn't try to BS or deflect in interviews. For years we've had to put up with Moyes, Mourinho, Van Gaal, Solskjaer and Ten Hag play the media 'game'. They either gave stock vague answers or blatantly deflected. Like Ten Hag replying to any question he didn't have a good answer for with 'we won two trophies in two years'. The team could be drifting, going nowhere for all the world to see and we would be fed BS narratives. Amorim is at least honest and doesn't treat the media/fans like fools.

I think he would've wanted to rest more players to be better prepared for these matches v Lyon but probably felt the risk of getting destroyed by City or Newcastle was too high and would be too damaging. They were horrible games to have sandwiched in between the most important games of the season. Particularly when the he squad is so thin, especially in attacking areas.

Had the same with my young fella this morning. Couldn't stop asking questions about how so many things were happening so fast (at least he didn't have to deal with the stress in real time).

    Glazers Out!

100%. If we get to the final I'll let him stay up for the whole thing but Bilbao are a much better outfit than anyone we've faced in the EL this season.

I'm not a United fan, but would like to see United & Amorim succeed.

I know there are many hurdles to cross yet, but surely fans would be happy with a Europa League win and hence a Champions League place?

The first half last night was impressive. The subsequent capitulation not so much. For some reason it seems to be a very fine line and so easy for the balance to switch.

The scenarios to come are a fine line too.

Best case scenario: Win the Europa, gain that champions league place, forget the league position and have no trouble attracting players. Let us then judge Amorim on his system and his players.

Worst case: Don't win it, the focus will then be the despair of that coupled with the league position. You'd have to think it is then not as attractive a proposition for players. What happens then is the worry?

Yeah, I'm not confident about Bilbao at all. Hardest side we could have faced.

Lets hope we haven't used up all of our nine lives in this competition last night.

Was waiting on a flight from Rome last night and able to watch most of it on the phone.

From a position of control where Garnacho should have wrapped it up to complete mayhem.

On the flight, safety announcement being given at 4-2 down to just catching the winner going down the runway, what a comeback. Casemiro showing his worth with 3 assists in the final minutes.

Plenty of flaws but it was one to enjoy last night. Getting home at 3am and scrolling through all the social media and clips again.

What it means to be a United supporter.

Full week off next week after Wolves on Sunday. Talk of rotation/resting. Also a good chance to get some players more minutes.

Maguire & Casemiro have to be rested after last night.

Maz hopefully is OK. Was badly missed when we went off at HT.

Shaw poor after long layoff last night. Needs more minutes but after last night won't be risked starting.

Mount needs to start at this stage, maybe even for Bruno but we know he doesn't rotate really.

Mainoo start as well and build him up more.

This are the squad players we need most for the Europa.

It could lead to Erikson & Lindelof featuring but needs must. They won't be here next season but if they stop someone picking up an injury then use them in nothing matches.

shout out to Casemiro and Maguire fur putting the head down and working hard for the team. Casemiro has really put in the hard yards the last few games or since Sir Jim called him out which is what you want to see.

Agree that it’s a precarious position as we saw last night. I really hope Amorim succeeds too and for me it’s a case of him being someone worth hitching the wagon to. Seems like an accomplishment to still be in the hunt for something.

It hasn’t been a smooth transition but I honestly think there’s a portion of the fan base who are in a bit of denial or thinking that it’s the premier league of 20 years ago with plenty of mid-table fodder. I’ll go out on a limb and say it’s generally accepted that United have spent inefficiently for the bones of a decade, are average in multiple positions, have a poor injury record and have multiple players who are not consistently up to PL level physicality /athelticism.

Yet we would definitely be in the hunt for Europe if the right manager had been found. There’s an element of taking one’s medicine which people don’t want to accept.

Maybe my mind is fuzzy but there’s a bit of a whiff of some of the Liverpool teams with Gerrard about this team. Capable of some magic, particularly in cups, but generally not good enough. We haven’t really been in the title hunt for years.

Last night was amazing though and a fair result. So many games have been a tough watch this year and the Lyon matches had parts that showed why at time but deserved the win over the two legs.

Delighted with the win last night. Didn't get to see the game, and have just been watching back highlights today.

As good as it feels though, particularly the last 5 mins, it's another game that highlights the continual problems this side have.

A real inability to take chances and kill games off at one end of the pitch. And at the other, we continue to give away incredibly cheap and soft goals.

Bilbao are a very good team, and a definite step-up from what we've been facing in this competition so far. They're 4th in La Liga and are going to qualify for the Champions League on merit, based on their League position.

I think it's a bridge too far for Utd, and the adventure will likely end at the Semis. Those jammy Spurs guys got the better side of the draw.

What a miracle! If I didn't see it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it. Both Mount and Shaw made it to the end of extra time without going off injured!
