Prison sentence for personal use cannabis possession

    Hoping to get some information as it's impossible to find anything useful online. Basically I was going through a tough time last year and got caught with cannabis twice within a year. I have since sought counselling and am doing all I can to sort my mental health out including cutting down massively on the weed.

    Unfortunately for me I was also caught in 2018 and 2019. So as of court yesterday I have been put on probation for the third offense. I know that I have another case coming up next month for basically the same thing.

    Any suggestions or know what I might expect to happen at court next month? It will be a fourth offense of possession of personal use cannabis. I am terrified, I'm generally an upstanding citizen but have been suffering with my mental health for the past few years.

    Also anyone know if/when the probation services might drug test me? How is this done? Is there a specific centre? I'm trying to get it out of my system but long time smoker it apparently could take months...

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    engage a solicitor immediately.

    Ignore everything you’re told here and just go do that now OP- first thing tomorrow have a number ready for a solicitor to speak to and then let them take over from here.

    You can apply for legal aid if you’re income is low- again solicitor will advise.

    Don’t fcuk around here if you’re genuinely at risk of being sent to prison.

    I presume you had a solicitor for your previous court appearances. The fact that your next appearance is for an offence that took place before your last appearance should be taken into consideration.
