Garo EVSE (EV Charger)

I have a Zappi v2.0, so the one with the (optional) hub device versus the current 2.1 model with the integrated Wifi/wired Ethernet and hub.

I need to start using OCPP (Monta) for work expenses. It feels a bit much to upgrade the v2 to a v2.1 and I was thinking to get a Garo EVSE instead due to high reputation of the brand plus the local API/control (Modbus) which makes me independent of the MyEnergi cloud and app - we don't have any other devices like Eddi, nor plan to.

AFAICT the current EVSE model sold uses an external meter to trigger a drop in amperage whereas I notice an upcoming model GEV7.4 with apparently this and solar integration built-in. Both have PEN Fault Detection.

Wondering what experts in the community think of this as an alternative to Zappi?
