you would wonder who they would bring in and/our step up next. cant see blaney coming back anytime soon tbh wondering it paul barr would take the new head coach role tbh. Also can't see seans brother staying around much longer either unless there way something in it for him. Either way there be alot of transition in that team next year should still be competitive but not the same danergous side they once were for since post covid onwards really. Lot of players gone and the coaching team behind that all more or less gone now.

Were St Mary's not in 1B last year? Can't be a regular occurrence making semi-final right after being promoted, although a quick look at last years table tells me they were a step above the rest in 1B?

Yeah Marys blew everyone away in 1B last year.

And recruited really well in the off-season across the board.

I’ll hopefully make it out for Clontarf/Lansdowne. Hugh Cooney playing for Clontarf and Charlie Tector and Cormac Foley lining out for Lansdowne. Should be a cracker.

UCC and Con win away but all other games won by home sides

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 4,992 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lost Ormond

Only 6 games left in the season. 5 on saturday and the big one sunday

Nenagh host UCC in 1A/1B playoff

    Trinity play Cashel in1B/2A playoff

    Navan Dungannon in 2A/2B

    Skerries Midleton in 2B 2C

Omagh Thomond in 2C/round robin with 1A final sunday clontarf cork con

2 up from 1B again with City of Armaghs loss. That playoff used to be a closed shop but last 2 seasons has seen the 1A club lose in the semi final.

Bridge between 1A and 1B definitely getting smaller.

UCC with a really impressive second half of the season push to make this playoff final but I think Nenagh will be too strong.

It would be great to see them promoted with a really impressive story in recent years.

@Lost Ormond you'd definitely be in the know, I'm hearing Connacht are very keen on Nenagh Ormond at the moment despite being a Munster club because they've a (relative) geographical convenience for some of their younger fellas to join. Especially since Buccs are on a massive slide now

Not In know that much but no surprise if connacht were interested connacht would know a lot on nenagh players as john muldoon is a former nenagh player back in the day and his brothers have had 2 stints in nenagh and ivan muldoon was a coach with nenagh a few years ago so would know a lot of the nenagh guys

Those are the whisperings I heard yeah. Something also about north tipp and provincial loyalties too (not touching that 😂)

There was a short lived rivalry with Belvo this season and I'm not going to lie I thought only one was going up this season and was disappointed we wouldn't have been playing you again for at least a year

I'm rooting for you lot this weekend anyway. I think it's a brilliant story to have in 1A.

You'd need to bolster the squad a bit to survive the jump I reckon tho (same for us)

With Cashel potentially going to 1B it's a big weekend for Tipp rugby.

so are the Wanderers coaches who got them promoted sacked? Seems a strange one? He’s so high calibre that it must be to coach the team going up? No shortage of money on Merrion Road!!!

No he is an assistant coach. Eoin Sherriff continuing as head coach.

he remains head coach of terenure college sct and is now also leinster schools coach.

Or the money from Xi Jinping I imagine!! They must be forking it out to lure him away from Lakeland’s.
in all seriousness where does a club like wanderers(400 members or so) get the funds to do run the place annually like that. Mad stuff

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 4,992 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lost Ormond

    Same as any club?

So anyone going to a game or making predictions for weekend?

Will Be at Nenagh UCC and possibly the 1A final sunday as well

would have thought more so mr.obrien then dermot tbh….. specially given i think he has a strong connection with the club and had his 50th birthday bash there good few years back putting a huge marque on their pitch and all.

got my ticket for the 1a final yesterday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 362 ✭✭luke9311

i still its somewhat a statement made by wanderers on their part annoucing bringing him in and a calibre of coach like him….. they wouldn't go looking for coaches cv like that if they werent looking to get up to div 1 asap

I spoke to someone in the know in Terenure & they said that coaching the SCT & AIL team had become to much for Skehan, I think he has a couple of young kids. He supposedly played for Wanderers when he was younger and is very much just in the background. I’m sure Wanderers are paying him very well all the same, very surprised Terenure let him go. I had heard he was going to Bath, he is the new Leinster Schools coach by all accounts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,253 ✭✭✭Hey_Ho_Lets_Go_3

Leinster schools coach.. I'd say its only a matter of time until he progresses further.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,458 ✭✭✭For Petes Sake

Sean Skehan's destined to go into the pro game if he wants to. A top class coach.

Apparently, with him not being in the Munster squad, Andrew Smith is playing for Clontarf this weekend.
