Ye as said by other poster it's ridiculous and would not be compliant with planning regulations.

AFAIK there needs to be a certain amount of outdoor space in a garden if you're looking to put an additional structure in it. You can be sure they didn't apply for planning permission for it.

The only thing that you can do to have it removed is report it to the planning authorities. It is certainly an eyesore and one I wouldn't be happy with popping up if it was my garden.

2.5m high and 25 sqm is possible exempt if there is 25 sqm remaining to rear and side of house.

Your 2.5m high suggestion does tie in with you 9 ft plus half metre.

It's still there in the quoted post. Don't see the issue personally, way more preferable to a 20ft high Leylandii hedge which wouldn't need any planning.

I wouldn’t be convinced that it actually needs planning but it’s hard to determine from the pic just how much back garden is left.

I’m not sure you’ll get satisfaction from the council and you’ll likely make an enemy of your neighbour if found that you reported it - I’ve seen a lot of estates both new and old with small gardens (much smaller than that one) with similar structures taking up the vast majority of space in the garden -I’d nearly expect more gardens around you to do similar -every second house these days are looking for more space - home office, activity room whatever - I’ve seen back gardens littered with these things - two or three different structures taking up the vast majority of space and certainly not 25sqm living space left

there,s no windows facing your house there's new regs coming in to allow people to build in a back garden it may be in breach of planning regulations the angle its placed at looks odd .

It may be too high in relation to the wall search building regs extension Dublin city council I think it had to be under 20 m floor space .
