    Its equal parts ridiculous/terrifying

These media outlets and individual personalities have huge influence, and they're prepared to voluntarily defenestrate themselves for Trump.

    Chomsky(2017) on the Republican party

"Has there ever been an organisation in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organised human life on Earth?"

I keep seeing clips of Karoline Leavitt in her daily press conference/misinformation and all I can think of is chemical Ali from the gulf war. The level of nothing to see here is scary.

I thought I saw a clip where trump said inflation was at virtually zero...

If any of them believe that they're living in denial.

The us as we know it and as an ally is over for the foreseeable. Even if trump and his administration fail in holding onto power and turning the us into a dictatorship or quasi dictatorship, the cat is out of the bag with fascists there for a long time to come. They've dismantled decades worth of federal government institutions and agencies, checks and balances on their power.

The us that is friendly and stable is gone.

What's been happening since the rise of Facebook in the late 2000s has been a whole other level to what the likes of Fox News had been doing prior to that, and this isn't to say that what Fox News had been at that point was particularly noble, but they at last participated in some basic shared realities and ground rules. Now, they have to act like Trump is God.

Like, they would call the 2008 election for Obama without too much fuss. They didn't necessarily like it, but nor were they going to put themselves in the position of openly questioning the validity of the election result with no hard evidence and open themselves up to litigation, as happened in 2020. That's something they did in 2020 because they had to pander to insane online conspiracies about it. Fox News did, at first, try to distance itself from this in notable incidents such as cutting away from a Trump presser about the 'fraudulent' election, but they since got on board with it using some slightly more oblique language to avoid another lawsuit, ie 'election security.

In other words, they no longer set the agenda. They have to follow whatever buzz is lighting up MAGA spaces online and cravenly attempt to get ratings off it.

I saw a short video clip from a US House of Representatives Member from Illinois. Mary Miller, a Republican.

Mary sits on House Agriculture and Education Committees.

The clip was interesting was Mary was talking about Climate Change. She didn't talk about it for long. All she said was that it was a hoax and a sham. And her logic for saying this, you might wonder given the committee memberships she holds might give her some insight, alas no, they don't.

She says that Climate Change is a Hoax because firstly the Climate is directly influenced by the Sun and secondly that God controls the Sun and he wouldn't do anything that would result in harm to the planet.

We laugh at the Healy Rays in Ireland, but every country has them. They might look and sound better in the US, but they're just as wilfully ignorant.

P.S. I spend way too much time thinking that what if in 2016, the UK had voted to remain, Hillary had beaten Trump so much he disappeared and the world collectively decided that that was a good time to enact meaningful, long term and sustainable practices with respect to the climate and society instead of the rampant sh*t show we've seen dominate much of the time since because of the victories of the Brexiteers and the Orange loud mouth.

A valuable lesson has been learned by the world re the USA. The world can no longer be held to constant recurring ransom by the whims of the US electorate every 4 years

I read some business experts think trump is stupid or has toxic masculinity. Issues eg he wants to show he's tough raising tariffs even though all experts say tariffs are pointless and hurt the consumer and increase inflation .He has crashed the stock market and bond market in America .This is not good for musk most of his wealth is based on the stock market value of his companys

Even worse than that trillions lost in stock market value is that he is reducing the value of the dollar meaning goods for consumers and parts imported to make cars will cost more

No one wants to say the king is wrong

Ceo,s are afraid to criticize Trump as he,s taking money from the social security fund to find tax cuts for the rich and corporations

He supports lite touch regulations on digital currencys.

Its a massive change if people investors lose faith in the dollar and American Treasury bonds

america being a superpower is based on the strength of the dollar

All the alarm bells point to a coming recession caused by trump .

Doge is wreaking havoc on the social security agency which pays out pensions to 75 million people Doges motto is if it's not broke ,it,ll be broke when we are finished but it's ok cos we just fired 10,000 people so who cares if you can't get thru to someone on the phone to talk to or have a problem filling in an online application on an app to access your pension

i miss mad magazine if it was on the stands now trump and musk would be in every issue and their basic stupidity and greed would be lampooned

Tech company's are donating to trump as he s not in favour of regulation

meta has sacked moderation staff and sent moderators to work in the Texas to show they are in line with conservatives

Goggle said years ago browser fingerprinting is bad for consumer privacy but it's using it now it can spy on you by tracking the os version what version of chrome you are using on your PC or phone

Theres no basic privacy user data laws in America.

Theres,s a vibe shift going on tech companies do not have to even pretend to respect user,s privacy

Trump is clamping down on free speech and the right to protest in America

University s will have to agree to strict policy's against protestors in order to receive any federal funding for research or to be able to take on students on low income

Trump knows universitys are the source of the next generation of liberal democrats politicians and human rights activists

I predict in a few months Doge will announce millions in savings after sacking 100,000 workers and dismantling federal agencies that provide vital public services that are necessary for a good normal quality of life for ordinary people or retired people like police and army veterans.

Its like the government announces 5 grand subsidys for all new car owners while sacking most of the workers who maintain the road network

The so called savings made by doge are maybe o.00000001 per cent of stock market trillion dollar lose,s if you retire in the next 3 years your 401 k pension fund is reduced in value the dollars in the pocket will buy less groceries inflation is increasing as tariffs increase the cost of consumer goods

China will have to decide whether to decouple from the US dollar. Components ordered from China are mainly quoted in US dollars. If I'm quoted last week and decide to purchase today then there's a 14% loss of margin that the Chinese company have to absorb as the dollar is weakening considerably. So there are issues for China too outside of losing trade to the US.

She's psychotic. Good luck to any one who decides to get in a relationship with her in the future. Anyone that can lie and manipulate with that level of confidence is a very dangerous person. We'll probably see her on the news in 10yrs for stealing a baby or something.

probably a cabinet filled with personality disorders, very likely she ll be addicted to something in the near future and a right mess….

Trump has managed to take the attention off two human tragedies in Ukraine and Gaza whilst making himself the main news story. And he's delighted. It's what he lives for. The entire population of both could be eliminated tomorrow and he'd spend 10mins working out how to make it about him and divert the attention back.

It's merely coincidence that it's helping his genocidal buddies, Putin and Netanyahu.

Mary Miller. Uhuh. Another shining star in the Naziverse of the GOP:

    "

“If we win a few elections, we’re still going to be losing unless we win the hearts and minds of our children. This is the battle. Hitler was right on one thing. He said, ‘Whoever has the youth has the future,’” Miller can be heard saying in a clip that was circulated on Twitter.

Those old enough to remember 80s TV will get the reference. But for several weeks now.....moreso than in his first term.....I've been thinking to myself, this guy thinks he's JR Ewing

Then I read an article on Thursday with a snippet of an interview from the 80s where he talked about what a big fan he was of JR Ewing!

    Uncanny

Her next career will be as a major presenter on Fox News......same as Kayleigh McEnany.....except bigger.....coz she's even further right than McEnany!

Looks like she had a shotgun wedding -so much for her “Catholic values” she farts on about

“They announced their engagement in December 2023 and were married in a private ceremony in January 2024.

She gave birth to their son, on July 10, 2024.”

Lads, seriously open a new thread if you want to gossip about a woman you don't like including her family. Very Trump like. A little honour please.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,701 ✭✭✭Lewis_Benson

He probabaly thought JR Ewing was a real person.

Remember, this is the man who called WWE when the Vince McMahon character was "blown up" in his limo, to see if vince was OK.

This is the level of stupidity we're dealing with.

You want us to stop criticising the presidents mouthpiece? I’ve heard it all now.

Yeah, stop calling out lies and propaganda.

    Shame on you all.

One thing for sure is that the "Good Guy Wins" westerns movies made in the USA in the past won't be made nowadays. The men in the black hats are all over town and the law officer isn't wearing a white hat either.

    Darth 8-bit

Irrelevant like John Wayne, an actor who featured as the "Good guy" in many of such Westerns.
