Didn't realise that, as you say I'd image he's gotten a significant top up from the IRFU. Would explain the Leicester rumours and the stalling.

Loughman was going for a scan with all reports indicating he was out. Looks like Wycherly to start with John Ryan covering LH.

Having Kleyn back makes a huge difference to our front row, so much heft and grunt. That's why himself and Edogbo are such a huge loss, two very powerful engines out.

Delights Nanks is available, definitely a major plus.

Not in the 42, Indo or Thornley in Times that Nankivell is available, as far as Im aware that hearing is Today?
    Where are people hearing otherwise?

The hearing was down for yesterday afternoon and I saw it on Instagram and X but only from fans on those platforms saying it was reduced to a one week ban, I haven't seen anything official.

Nothing official but I saw it from a source associated with the 42

Niallo retiring at the end of the season.

What a career in coaching and management he has had.

Official confirmation on Munster rugby that Nankiville is available for Saturday

    https://www.munsterrugby.ie/2025/04/10/alex-nankivell-free-to-play-after-appeal-upheld/

Munster Rugby’s Alex Nankivell is free to play following an appeal by the club which was upheld.

In the Round 14 BKT URC Connacht v Munster game (Saturday, March 29) the referee Craig Evans showed the Player (Alex Nankivell, No. 12) a Red Card in the 25th minute of the game under Law 9.20a – A Player must not charge into a ruck or maul. Charging includes any contact made without binding onto another player in the ruck or maul.

Following the original Disciplinary hearing on Wednesday April 2, the Player exercised his right to appeal.

An Appeal Panel consisting of Rod McKenzie (Chair, Scotland), Achille Reali (Italy) & Rory Bannerman (Scotland) met Wednesday April 9, to review.

The appeal was upheld by the Panel and the Player is free to play in Munster Rugby’s Investec Champions Cup Quarter Final clash on Saturday April 12.

The Munster Rugby delegation consisted of Pat Barriscale, Niall O’Donovan and Mike Prendergast.

I suppose the selection decision this week is either Smith or SOB on the wing. I’d imagine if we’re going 6-2, SOB’s versatility would be beneficial. Although Smith has good pace which is a help against the players they’ve got in the back 3.

The MRSC renewal details are out.

12.5% increase in ticket prices next season.

TP to get an extra URC game at the expense of Musgrave to make up for losing a CC game.

However if you take the TP season ticket, you are forced to buy a ticket for the CC game in Cork too.

I think this could be the straw that breaks the camels back for a lot. It's easy to get tickets to every game in TP these days. Why would you pay a €55 membership fee and pay for a game you may not want to attend when tickets are easy to come by?

Sob to the wing...it's a no brainer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 26,553 ✭✭✭✭phog

First increase in 9 years so it's not really a surprise there's an increase.

Thomond Park, while losing the CC match is gaining an URC game and more importantly it probably means extra ticket sales for CC game in PuC and the extra URC game in Thomond which is good news for our finances.

The win last week might convince a few people to give it one more year.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 13,227 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cookiemunster

Completely missing the point. It's the whole making TP season ticket holders pay for a game in Cork that's the issue. Tickets are easy to get these days. Buying individual tickets and not paying the €55 membership or for the game in PuC would be a serious option for many.

Also in that time we went from 10 games a season in TP to 7 games without a reduction in season ticket prices. That's a price increase in my book.

The game you're paying for in Cork is a Champions Cup game, they're surely the one game that most fans want to get to see live.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 13,227 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cookiemunster

As we've already seen a number of pages back, there are plenty who don't want to go to another match in PuC. No matter the competition. And the CC group stage has been seriously devalued under the current format.

I'm undecided as to whether I'll go or not as I'm not a fan of the ground and I don't want to be forced to buy a ticket to it just to get my TP season ticket.

As someone that isn't a holder but was looking at the TP for next year that sorta stinks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,533 ✭✭✭leakyboots

I think the MRSC have done a brilliant job over the years to be honest. Not their fault the powers that be are moving the goalposts with games but they've done well to not increase prices.

That said, I really hope this PUC thing dies a death soon enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 26,553 ✭✭✭✭phog

Of course they'll be people who won't go to PuC and they'll be current members who won't rejoin, that's been happening YoY anyway. The CC is devalued but a CC game v an URC game it's still our biggest earner and I think it's better to have moved a CC pool game there than the Christmas Leinster game. Though I'd have trialled moving the Leinster game to PuC in April and having the Ulster game in Thomond over Christmas and keep the CC games as is in Thomond.

I suppose for those fans that want to give something back to the team then it's really not a bad offer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 593 ✭✭✭CONSI

Agree with the above, I have no interest in a PUC game, no matter what the competition, but have to pay for the ticket to get my season ticket that I have had now for 15+ years. Really not good enough, should have been a TP only ticket as it had been before. So its a price increase for tickets and I have to pay for a ticket for a game I dont want. This will help massage the numbers of how many go to the CC game in PUC. Munster rugby wont care if I am there or not, they will already have my money.

I was expecting something to tempt me into renewing but between the price increase and being forced to pay for a ticket to a game I have no interest in attending at PUC the exact opposite has happened

My thinking is I'll get an 'associate membership' and consider going full again for the 2026/7 season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,295 ✭✭✭50HX

I expect us to give Sat a right rattle.

This team showed in 23 they are well able of performances on the road.

If we are within 2 pens or 5 at the hour mark I'd fancy us big time.

Bordeaux are leaky enough defensively..it seems to be "we'll score more than opposition" approach.

Don't concede early tries & we have a right shot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,559 ✭✭✭JanuarySnowstor

I presume those who hate PUC are from Limerick

From a Cork point of view its a brilliant idea. I see the bulls match on Easter weekend is half empty

Great to see Crowley finally signed and it put to bed. Thought Shane Horgan was bang on about it on Second Captains:

Horgan: Was there a thinking in the IRFU "we can get this cuy a little bit cheap, or we can get him not on a central contract".

And I think that might be a little bit more of what was at play and I'm glad he called them on it, y'know he's right. You don't have long to play, he's crucial for Munster, actually in many ways he's very, very important to Ireland and he should be rewarded for it.

I think it's a mistake by the IRFU not to try and support players. And not have to go into that deep negotiation to get you what you want. Because, I'm not saying there's not always a bit of negotiation with this, but he's a top player. He's one of Munster's top players. Is there not something about keeping that guy happy? And actually showing that he's valued and that he's important, not just to Munster but to Ireland.

Because it's all part of what performance is, we know there's the technical skills and fitness and all that, but I always keep on saying it the other massive part of rugby is your head, and a player who feels valued and is properly rewarded, renumerated for what they provide to both their teams I think is a better player for both.

Simon: Do you not think there's a haggle every single time and the player knows that and he doesn't feel undervalued because he knows the IRFU are going to haggle anyways.

Horgan: It's the level of haggle, right, there's the level of haggle. And there's also what you're hearing from across the water and from France and with firm offers going "this is the value" and you're hearing less than half that value? Y'know, that's an issue.

I couldn't imagine Crowley, number one, I'm sure he really didn't want to go and two, he doesn't really want to have that negotiation in public, nobody does. Now you do it because you might have to but he doesn't want to do that, y'know it's not helpful for anyone. So of course there's negotiation but within parameters.

I don't think anybody could say that they hate PUC outright, sure, it's not the highest quality facility and it's in a God auful location, and you can't bring your pint to your seat due to GAA rules but it is just a stadium and would be a huge asset ahead of Landsdowne Road if ever we get a home EPCR Quarter Final again.

I think the issue most have is that it's included in the Thomond Park season ticket despite it taking place over 100km from Thomond Park. The 12.5% increase in ticket prices in tandem is pissing people off also

From what I can tell most of the complaints come from outside Cork but not necessarily just from Limerick. Clare, Tipperary and Kerry fans will likely be pissed about it as well.

Not sure how the Bulls match is relevant to the discussion…

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 13,227 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cookiemunster

It's not about disliking PuC. It's the fact that the TP season ticket we've had for years suddenly has a game in Cork on it without any prior notification of the change.

Mod: And on a mod note, we won't be starting the Limerick v Cork debate

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,438 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Yeah think it should be opt in for the CC game in Cork. Season tickets were always venue specific unless getting both. Yeah it gets you access to the CC home games but still should be up to people to opt in and not include it automatically for anyone who doesn't want to go or happy to decide at a later time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,902 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

I think for the last 2 or 3 seasons they included the interpros on the Musgrave season ticket. Not a decision I agreed with at the time and still don't agree with it but it shows Munster have form in this regard.

I agree season tickets should be venue, or at least city, specific with an option to add on individual games. Currently I can get a discount on Musgrave tickets with my TP season ticket which I have made some use of the last few years. I can't go to every Musgrave game due to various commitments but I can go to one or 2 in a season

Most worryingly for everybody involved I think this will backfire on Munster

    Munster team for the weekend;

Munster Rugby: Thaakir Abrahams; Calvin Nash, Tom Farrell, Alex Nankivell, Andrew Smith; Jack Crowley, Craig Casey; Josh Wycherley, Diarmuid Barron, Oli Jager; Jean Kleyn, Tadhg Beirne (C); Peter O’Mahony, John Hodnett, Gavin Coombes.

Replacements: Niall Scannell, Mark Donnelly, Stephen Archer, Fineen Wycherley, Tom Ahern, Conor Murray, Seán O’Brien, Alex Kendellen.

Few surprises - I was confident SOB would start on the wing, looks like counter attacking pace is key - I also thought John Ryan would be LH cover.

Also, Archer is in line for his 300th cap - that is some longevity in all fairness - he has definitely improved with age during his career.

I'm surprised about O'Brien too, but I'd prefer to have him on the bench than Scannell.

I didn't see Mark Donnelly coming in either. I though Ryan would cover loose head.

Still it's about the strongest we can put out, so happy enough with it.
