    Hi folks,

I'm buying tickets from someone that can't be transferred yet but they are offering to give me their Ticketmaster account details and I can change the email/password phone etc to my own. If that all checks out and I can see the tickets in the account are there still risks associated with it?

    Thanks

    Mick

Are you friends with the person or is this a random person on the internet ?

If friends with the person you could just have the app logged in on your phone with their details and ask them to delete their banking information beforehand.

If you don’t know the person I’d run a mile as probably a scam and tell them you’ll pay when the ticket transfer option is available. Potentially Ticketmaster could void that account as well. How much is the ticket in question?

Random ISH but local at least

Are they that stuck for cash they can’t wait to transfer the ticket option to kick in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,256 ✭✭✭micks_address

Yeah they basically want cash now. I've changed the email and password but phone number won't update. No money exchange yet

they could easily claim they were hacked and get account back

yea I’d be weary, with the phone number on the account they have all the power and there original email address that was registered.

Up to you how well you want to trust the person you know. Add the ticket to your android or apple wallet would be my advice right away.

please don’t use an email address where there is two separate names on it. Ticketmaster ain’t dumb and against there terms and conditions.

like he had mikewhelan@gmail.com and you used Johnhogan@gmail.com as the new email address. They’ll pick up on that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,256 ✭✭✭micks_address

Yeah not doing anything until the phone number is updated.. even at that id still be at risk?

yep, as person will have original phone number, name, I’d and email on the account.

Ticketmaster clamp down on accout sharing as well due to ticket louting and could potentially shut the account and refund the money to the payment account used.

To be honest I’d advise against this altogether. Theres zero security with it.

There’s a reason Ticketmaster only offer ticket transfer close to the event to cut away ticket louting like this.

But if I update the contact details of name, email and phone number to my own?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,256 ✭✭✭micks_address

Yeah I'm probably just going to change the details back and leave it. I was surprised they gave the account details so willingly. I wouldn't have without at least a deposit

    Snarky Snark Snark

yeah, if you’ve given them owt then your money is likely gone and they can claim you hacked their account and threaten to go to the guards if you complain.

Looks like in the end these were legimate. Sold back to Ticketmaster resale in the blink of any eye. Ah well wasn't meant to be.

I hope if the Seller needed cash the show is soon as in most cases ticketmaster won't release the funds until after the event

nah TM now pay 10 business days after the resale transaction. No waiting for concert to happen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 623 ✭✭✭colmufc

Not in all cases, I had to wait for an event to happen only last month before I received payment from TM when I sold the ticket last December.

Some are paid within 10 days, less if anything but both still happen

Are people having any difficulties at all with the actual Ticketmaster app itself. I've a couple of gigs on mine, however I am finding it almost impossible to open it, as it keeps flickering my the home page to the sign in page continually. It's actually more frustrating than this boards site with all of the continuous tooing and froing.

Had the same problem and going into app settings, clearing cache and forcing stop (either order should do - can't remember) should solve it. Awful app. Wouldn't want to get stuck with it malfunctioning at the door for a gig.

Perfect job, thanks, 'clear cache' is the solution.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 623 ✭✭✭colmufc

Ya same issue last week, signed in via browser and it was fine all upcoming tickets there, deleted the app and redownloaded and signed in and noting there in upcoming, took a few hours but they showed up again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,380 ✭✭✭Billy Mays

Having an issue with the Ticketmaster app also. Getting the following message:

"Your browsing activity has been paused. We've detected unusual behaviour on either your network or your browser"

Have tried signing out and signing back in. I've cleared cache, deleted and reinstalled the app and still getting the same message.

I've also tried it via browser on my phone and my work pc and keep getting an error message.

    Any suggestions?

^ Exact same, tried lots of things but no progress. Even the contact form doesn't seem to work. I have gig on Sunday, so time is running out on this for me.

Actually, I'll start a new thread as a friend of mine is having the same issue.

The app isn't working right for me either so I've paused it on my phone and used the website to transfer tickets to kids for upcoming events
