Best paint stripper

Can anyone recommend a good paint stripper, I want to remove multiple layers of old paint. I've tried the Diall brand and find it very gooey and messy, anything that doesn't leave a sticky mess???? Thanks.

What's the surface? I ended up boiling metal coathooks as wasn't happy with the goo of stripper. Are you using a carbide scraper?
