Yep, definitely a real task in comparison to much of the rest of the series. There's usually random internet posts from those who look at QVC/TJC wondering why there are new & terrible presenters suddenly popping up.

    Cynical prediction.

The winner of the next (and final) task will be decided solely by Sugar, rather than any sales figures. The team of 3 will almost certainly be declared the winners unless it's beyond obvious that the team of 4 should win. The teams will be changed before the task such that the team of 4 have two candidates who are 'firing fodder'.

he (Sugar) must like Anisa’s pizza business; she would have been one for the firing line last week - her performance was awful

Does any one know Amber Rose's business proposal? I wouldn't have thought a pizza business would massively interest Lord Sugar.

Oh jesus. Another ship that has well and truly sailed.

I'm not "against" Anisa's pizza idea, or a bubble tea idea, but if the year was 1981, and Dominos, Apache, Four Star Pizza and Papa Johns(and the hundreds of other pizza related businesses) were not already in the UK, then making a business proposal to Lord Sugar would be a great idea. The reality is, it's 2025. I live in a town in the midlands(in Ireland), and a quick count on Just Eat shows 11 places doing pizza and 3 places down bubble tea. I'm pretty sure there are a few more places doing pizza but they just aren't on Just Eat, or don't deliver to my area.

Hopefully someone else has some kind of a unique idea.

What is your biggest business success to date?
Building a highly-rated Indian-Italian fusion pizza business from scratch. I’ve managed everything from menu creation, to operations and marketing. My unique pizzas, like the 'Chicken Tikka Masala' pizza, have earned outstanding feedback, proving there is strong demand for bold and creative flavours.

My unique pizzas, like the 'Chicken Tikka Masala pizza', have earned outstanding feedback.

    What's your business plan?
My plan is to expand my pizza business by opening more dark kitchens in high-demand areas. This will allow me to grow the business strategically, introduce our innovative menu to more customers, and build towards establishing a nationally recognised brand.

Thats Anisa’s idea. Don’t know why she hasn’t gone with Chicken Pizza Masala.

Hmmm, interesting, a friend of mine had a similar business plan. Make the dough out of naan bread, and make the topping to be 2-3 different kinds of Indian dish. Target Indian officer workers. He got as far as doing market research. Only problem was he was aiming for a price of about £6 pounds per dish out of the food truck to cover his costs, but the feedback was it was way more than his target market were willing to pay for lunch.

I think Jordan might be the longest lasting Irish contestant since Jennifer Maguire.

Amber Rose uploaded a video saying it was untrue she didn't put the steam thing over her face because she was afraid it would smudge her make up.

Apparently he's also the youngest to ever appear on it.

We have a good few people from India in work, they only moved to Ireland in the last 5/7 years. they all bring their lunch into work; Indian dishes - heat it up in the microwave. Never seen any of them buy a lunch in a shop or the food market.

Sugar likes 'products' he never really goes for service type ideas

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,913 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

My friend is UK based which has a much larger Indian population, but yes that was the point he was making, or the point I was making. They don't pay for lunch, so I wonder how viable that business idea is.

Makes no sense Jordan being the PM when Liam was the person who worked in the fashion industry.

Where did Liam get those eyebrows?

Jordan in the final, seems quite emotional !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,553 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

Jeez, how in the world did Anisa get through that. Shes so utterly deluded. Clearly the business idea is appealing to him.

Am a bit surprised that Mia bit the bullet as she's been quite good throughout and one of the more grounded candidates.

Have a feeling a couple of them will get walloped next week in the interviews. Then again, the last few years have been full of 'gotcha' moments in the interviews but then followed by the five interviewers being bizarrely positive when reporting back.

What's the name of the character from the Inbetweeners who was the pathological liar? Liam reminded me of him. Sounds like him, accent wise.

Others: do you have an idea for a story?

Liam: the story is it's eco friendly fashion.

Others: that's the brief, what's your story?

Enjoyed last nights episode. was clear that the niche fashion items were doomed, very few men in skirts! was surprised Sugar actually fired Mia, she had been strong throughout but was deffo responsible for the failure of this task. She was insisting on the concepts. Am glad Sugar fired her. He must really like Anisa's idea.

She was responsible, but Jordan was also responsible for letting her walk all over him. He stood up to Liam on the team roles, but seemed unable to stand up to Mia going way off the wall.

Still, nice to have an Irish interest for the interviews.

They really laid it on thick with the approving smiles from Tim for everything Jordan said.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,913 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

I say this as the owner of not one but two kilts, Mia's idea was terrible. They often seem to forget in tasks like this that the goal is not to sell a couple, but to sell lots. A trendy place might place an order for 10 mens, recycled skirts and 20 mens crop tops but thats going to be it.

The other teams approach was safe, with terrible logo, and I'd never heard of a scrum bum before, but I'd imagine only a certain figure would pull it off, but at the end of the day, people do like leggings and so will buy them.

I definitely think the right people were fired last night.

Mia's contributions to the task almost felt like sabotage to me. I think she felt her past record meant she was completely safe and she could produce any auld shite, because there's absolutely no way she could've reasonably thought her products would have mass appeal.

Still, I'm delighted for Jordan. Seems like a really nice guy, only 22 years old and it'd be great to see an Irish person back in the Apprentice final.

Mia was very surprised to be fired & it carried over into her appearance on Your Fired

I don't know if it was intentional sabotage, but certainly she felt she was immune from a firing. There's no denying she browbeat Jordan into going her way. I wish he had stood up to her. Hopefully thats a lesson he has learnt.

The thing I didn't get is that it's purely on units

Yeah the athleisure stuff got nearly twice as many orders, but twice the amount of retailers went for the mens skirt idea and surely the retail price of those items would be significantly higher than the yoga pants. I honestly thought that set of clothes was nothing special and something you would see for €10/15 an item in F&F line in Tesco

I don't think the skirts were great either but they kept calling it niche when nearly all the retailers bought it and most declined the athleisure stuff. Deano talked 1 guy up from 500 to 1,500 units (you get the impression it's like monopoly money to the retailers as they aren't actually placing orders) and that was the difference. The other brand actually seemed to land more

I think part of the skill in approaching each task is carefully listening to how the task will be 'marked' and keeping that at the forefront of your decision making.

Is it a profit & loss task like the various food-selling tasks? Is it volume of sale units regardless of cost/price like the task you are discussing? Or is it purely value of sales regardless of cost like the live TV selling? All different concepts and whilst the flaws you raise about this task are correct I don't particularly mind it (hell, all the tasks are flawed) as it shows whether the candidates are able to think clearly about what is being asked of them.

The niche route they went down in this task would likely have been a winner under the 'value of sales' or 'profit and loss' marking system. That the candidates completely failed to take the marking system into account is purely on them, and not a sign of any unfairness of the task imo.

True, I actually think I was disappointed by how it was judged, would have been better to have industry experts actually assess which is better, kind of like the banking app dragons den task, rather than pure selling

I think we've seen that before too, where they go pitch to 3 retailers but they don't find out the orders until the end

In fairness you still end up with the same result likely either way
