VW Passat rear brake pads replacement

Hello All, So changed the rear brake pad on a 2019 VW Passat 2.0 TDI. Don't have VCDS. So I had the handbrake released, removed calipers, took off the handbrake motors and wound back the pistons and replaced pads. Reassembled brakes, plugged in the handbrake electrical connectors, replenished brake fluid and purged the air out of the brakes. Now I have good brakes but no handbrake and the messages -

    Caution: parking brake active

    and

    fault: electronic parking brake.

Anyone be able to help with my best way out here? If I remove calipers again and connect up battery direct to the handbrake motors to winde back pistons should that resolve problem?

You need someone with diagnostics, you cant just take the motors off and wind back the calipers they have to be put into service mode first and then when the job is done removed from service mode and that will calibrate them

You can hook 12v direct to the caliper to open them but your too late for that now.

Vcds, and hope they are not shagged after a force wind-back

Thanks all for replies and panic averted. Went at it this evening. Was going remove calipers and hook up car battery direct to motor but first wheel I took off on the nearside I noticed the electrical connector was not fully plugged in…..duh, silly schoolboy error. Anyway drove it home. Low and behold all is working fine again.
