from what I can see by signing up on the 18 month day night plan my rates actually go up as currently paying 25.48 cent day rate and 12.35 cent night rate with annual fee of 303.97. I will be going to:

Day Unit Rate (Fixed)Cent per kWh

    26.49

Night Unit Rate (Fixed)Cent per kWh

    13.35

    Standing Charge (Fixed)Annual

    €331.33

    Am I missing something here?

    @LBF21

You're getting certainty in a very uncertain world.

Worst case and the electricity price collapses pay €50 to leave.

pretty sure he was implying he got the tickets by signing up to the deal... Not physically. Anyway we'll all be in emerald park at some stage this year. ;)

For the BWG Gas plan … Carbon Tax is hardly 121 cent per kWh?? Should it say 1.2146 cent? I think I am currently paying around 1.10 cent per kWh.

If you sign up to this online do you get the Emerald Park tickets or is it only by phone?

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators Posts: 7,182 Mod ✭✭✭✭Sheep Shagger

It's quoted as a benefit online too so assume it's both call centre and online.

Now which 2 in the house are going to miss out on Emerald Park given there's only 2 freebies...if anyone's not using their tickets :)

Just renewed to the.non smart dual fuel plan. Assume I'll get an email in a couple of days confirming like it says I will.

Hi, apologies if already asked, but can you get this offer without being an employee of BWG?

    Thanks.

Did you not get the memo, it's being changed to a free staff day out in emerald park for us all! 🤣😂

@davemckenna25 If you've ever carried your shopping to the till in Spar/Mace/Londis/XL/Eurospar, you're 'working' for BWG. Welcome to the team. 👍

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

I think a fixed rate is worth considering. Can't see rates going down any decade soon.

    0.42c between them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,179 ✭✭✭✭Berty

It was said to me by phone with Flogas about the amount of BWG Flogas customers compared to how many actually work for BWG and she specifically called out this website as the root of evil.

Prior to that I was asked if I was a BWG Employee. No proof was sought. We're not the problem. If you can sell at those rates then you shouldn't be surprised if people want the best available rates.

Is the SC 257 on the smart 24 hour plan?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 516 ✭✭✭The lips

Folks I hate to clog up the thread with possibly a stupid question......is it possible to sign up to the day/night rate NON SMART on a NON activated smart meter?

Or is that only available to people that still have the old day night meters at there house?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,663 ✭✭✭bren2001

If you have the correct time of Smart Meter, yes. If you are currently on a 24 hour plan on an unactivated smart meter, then I don't believe its possible.

  • Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 11,715 ✭✭✭✭Black_Knight

Think they fixed the 24hr electricity only rate, but also updated the day/night rate for non smart to be 25.94c/kWh day. Night is still 12.79

  • Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 11,715 ✭✭✭✭Black_Knight

Just signed up and got a confirmation email with a link to rates:

    image.png

    https://web.flogas.ie/pdf/BWG-Affinity---Res-Offer-BWG-Dual-Fuel-18-Month-Fixed-Energy_1743670322.pdf

Doesn't match the 25.94c day and 12.79c night they advertised

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 516 ✭✭✭The lips

I am currently on the non smart with billing code DG1 MC01. I must give them a call to see what they can do for me. I want the best of both worlds.

I read earlier in the thread that a smart tarrif has a smaller night rate window, is that true?

  • Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 11,715 ✭✭✭✭Black_Knight

I think I see what's happening. They have a "smart" plan under dual fuel with same day and peak rates, which is better than the non smart day/night rate in both unit rate, and standing charge.

I think I applied for the smart rate (accidentally), but my confirmation email says I'm on the "BWG Dual Fuel 18 Month Fixed Energy" rate at 26.49c/13.35c and €331.33 standing charge. Hopefully i'm still on the day/night rate and not a smart plan, though the smart plans look to be getting cheaper.

AFAIK Flogas night is 11pm to 8am. I don't know is that UTC or does it account for daylight savings.

    Hi folks,

im with Yuno for electricity and found them good so far, app is decent.

I’m with SSE for gas and it’s shocking, they rarely take your submitted meter reading and just use an estimate. Surely providing accurate billing is bare minimum.

Are all the gas providers like this? I want to change, would rather pay slightly more per KWH if the billing is decent. Can anyone let me know what other providers billing systems are like?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 269 ✭✭Lester_Burnham

Bord Gais billing system is excellent. I've a smart meter for electricity so that looks after itself but you can submit gas readings in the app and they use them. They also remind you to submit a reading 4 days before your bill is calculated and use that reading for the bill.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 237 ✭✭Gerlad

Bord Gais is pretty good and calculcates the bill off your reading. They send you a reminder to submit your reading too before they produce your bill. Can do Level pay or pay your own set amount by scheduled direct debit every month too.

is the BWG energia the best at the moment? got to move from flogas also, is there a signup link posted somewhere?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,696 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

bwg have no connection with Energia at the moment, they have a reduced rate with flogas for 18 months

    The internet isn’t for everyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 100 ✭✭jasonhn

is there a signup link to that?

They can, also, play around with the billing period if you have gas with them.Billing period for gas can range from 42 up to 66 days.Very handy for budgeting.Electricity readings belong to ESBN

That's the one,the other 2 plans beside it on the Flogas site are marked "Smart",no need to phone them.
