Tipp not going to be as charitable as Clare were. Cant win a ball in the tipp half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,943 ✭✭✭eigrod

This is extraordinarily poor. Touch is poor, picking is poor, delivery is poor, forwards incapable of winning ball. Tipp are good but Cork are dreadful.

Brutal first half. They look like they haven't trained or played together before. Extra Tip defender making it very hard for either of the 2 Barry's to make any kind of impact from play.

    0-5 to 1-11 HT.

That was one of the worst displays I have seen in ages. Hopefully they can improve in the second half at least

Amazing how inept these players are surely after this shambles the coaches should resign forthwith.

Poor Bunch at that age group.

    Score flattered us.

Not a matter of liking or disliking anyone or questioning their passion for cork hurling, I just don't agree with the tried (for the last 20 years) and failed tactics that both manager and coach don't seem to be able to move on from. First 2 under 20 games so far have only reinforced what I dreaded would happen under their management. So disappointed for the players.

Brian Hayes named to start Sunday. no need to risk him imo

I'd say Hayes must have been fine almost after the last match. Ryan said it was innocuous straight away in an interview so he must have been fairly ok even then. Although maybe he gets switched out right before throw in and its just a smokescreen!

Sorry to see Roche not playing as he does a lot of hard work but good to see Healy play from start. Healy seems to be more of a scorer so maybe that's why he is picked. He seems to be very good at long range points from what I have seen. We have so many options now from the bench with Dalton, Harnedy Kingston etc that no matter who you pick they are all good.

I thought Coleman would start as he needs game time but Cormac O Brien has been very impressive too. Also, I'm hoping to see Connolly go well to get back to where he was last year.

    Looking forward to the game!

Fine team. A few changes is good to see. Everyone is chomping at the bit and the bench looks very strong.

He was part of the Clare senior managerial setup that won a league title a few years ago. Of course the game moves on and all, and of course perhaps this current crop of u20 players just aren't as good as previous ones as well.

In Ladies Football today, a win for the Cork Minors.

    Munster Minor Championship R4

    Cork 1:12 Clare 1:4

That league final in 1998 was probably Seanie O'Farrell's finest game for Cork. It was the final when Waterford kind of announced themselves as more of a competitive force as well.

Going a bit further back to 1993 and we had that memorable trilogy of games against Wexford. We were sittting ducks for Clare in the championship a few weeks later though! A lovely day down the Pairc in the sunshine, there's no excuses for Cork not to get the job done tomorrow.

Unfortunately the 1B final between Waterford and Offaly will dilute the amount of support both ourselves and Tipp will have in the ground, but it is what it is. That game should've been played in Limerick or Thurles imo.

Cork winning 16 points to 7 at half time. Anyone watching this ? Maybe you can tell how its going. I saw Limerick had a red card.

    Limerick 0-13 Cork 0-24

Next up is Kerry in just 2 weeks!

We did all we could do and beat Limerick very comfortably. Hopefully we'll have a right cut off Kerry now the next day.

I was at the semi final and the 3 finals in 93. We beat Tipp that semi. I'm 99% sure the 3rd game against Wexford was on a Saturday (which was unusual back then) and I'm almost certain Cork City won league of Ireland too same day.

Got caught by balls against Clare down in Limerick.

It was and we won that 1998 league final on the same weekend Cork City won the FAI cup as well.

We of course beat Limerick a few weeks later, for our first win championship win against anyone that wasn't Down or Kerry since the 1992 Munster Final.

Ger Loughnane and his the GAA have it in for us speech, Jimmy Cooneys whistle, Babs Keatings sheep in a heap and Waterford going on their first serious championship run since the early 1960's.

1998 was one memorable and crazy year in hurling history.

The Pairc full on a nice day is some site.

Looks to be pretty much game over before it's even half time. Our forwards are a serious unit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,170 ✭✭✭thefa

Up 3-16 to 12 points. Over double scores and deserve it. Midfield and half back line well on top. Full forward line looking menacing.

Delighted with that. Performance was flat last 10mins but game was over at that stage.

    Battered them. Love it.

Always great to win a national final against the old enemy, and after 27 years it's great to finally bring the league trophy back home to Leeside.

It's our first trophy at senior level since we won Munster in 2018 as well. Let's drive on now and bring home the big one. Rebels Abu!

Unreal 1st half performance today and a massively welcome Title.

However, it irks me more and more each year that 2 of the 5 Munster teams won’t even qualify for AI QF while KK and Galway saunter through Leinster again. The imbalance is ridiculous. .
