Bottom of the garden sinking

I wonder if anyone could give me some advice. For the last few years, I have noticed a foot and a half of the garden is sinking at the fence, the edge of the lawn, some block paving and gravel have all moved. Nothing seems to be going into the area behind the fence.

Any ideas?

Just looks like settlement, was that area back filled at some point?

Can take years for ground to compact back to where it stops settling.

There may have been a big hole there that they tipped a lot of vegetation into, and now it has rotted away. We did something similar to fill in a gap behind a supporting wall, but over filled it by quite a lot so it ended up level.

The house was built in 2004, we aren't sure if it was backfilled.

20 years should do it, you'll probably find if you refill/reset everything now it won't settle any further.
