liveline old episodes

Hi there,

I am interested in listening to the old liveline episodes, from the very start.

Is there a website out there that has them all?

The very start was 1985 with Marion Finucane. If you mean that very start, I doubt you will get anything. RTE were not good with archiving stuff back then. Joe Duffy took over in 1999. YouTube might get you a few clips, but bear in mind YouTube didnt get launched until 2005, so you'll be missing the first 6 years or so of Joes tenure at least.

Actually, I just did a search on the RTE Archive for Liveline, and it returned 9 hits.

Thats 9 hits total, for all of Livelines history. I will do some more searching around, but I wouldn't be too hopeful.

A few years ago, RTE brought out a DVD called Zig and Zag: The Best bits from Back Den. My sister gave it to me for christmas. Problem was, it wasn't the best bits, it was more like the only bits they had managed to find. That shows you how good RTEs archiving was.

I googled joe duffy michael o leary and there is an apology from 2017,nothing about the 2020s tete a tete between the trinity boys..there is loads on tiktok..he has been presenting since 1999, I'd love to get the 9/11 broadcast..i remember his show from Arab spring when gaddafi was ousted and joe was on the phone to the irish bar fella, can ya ask the lads to stop the celebratory gunfire, can't hear ya

That was quite disappointing to hear it wouldn't be much luck with finding old episodes ☹️

I saw a mention of an email address here, where you can email to see if they have episodes (tapes@rte.ie) or something like that. From what I read here, you get a CD copy of it. I wonder if that's worth doing.
