If Trump ordered his generals to invade Greenland, that's a lawful order. All soldiers would need to follow it.

The Nuremberg principals regard using the defense of following orders as an excuse for committing war crimes.

If Trump orders his generals/soldiers to commit war crimes, that's a lawful order for them, but they can't use the excuse of following orders as a defense.

I would suspect there will be a social media blitz for Greenland to vote to become independent (in doing so, they are out of the EU and also NATO). Then a social media blitz of AI greenlanders saying they want to join America etc.... none of which would be true, but it will give the US an excuse to annex it, if that's the end goal.

I read 100s of people were deported. A lot of those people were completely innocent eg they were deported because they were young male and happened to have tattoos so they were presumed to be members of a Mexican gang there was no proper judicial process they were all presumed to be guilty of crimes because of their race and how they looked or where they were located at .

Trump has got big donations from tech company's he,s supporting no regulations of crypto currencys or Ai .

I read an article online there's only 3 jobs safe from Ai in the future

We still need chefs waiters counter staff people stacking shelves bus and train drivers actors comedians writers programmers civil servants politicans tv presenters Dj,s

Measles is spreading rapidly in Texas Rfk Jr is not in favour of vaccines If Biden was in power he,d be in tv asking everyone to get vaccinated with Mmr or saying no child can go to school if they are not vaccinated . They are sacking 1000s of workers saying it's to save money .The goal is to erase federal agencys or replace managers with trump conservatives so regulations to rein in or regulate corporations will not be enforced or there ll simply no staff left to act against scammers or for instance company's that dump chemicals that destroy the environment .

In the worst case scenario USA could become like putins Russian eg company's can do almost anything if they donate to the government party or certain officials .Only people who are loyal to the government will get civil service jobs .

All investigations by federal agencys of Elon musk's companys have been dropped .

Seriously, this lot are EXTREMELY dangerous and reckless.

You have this Vance PoS spouting honest to shite Hitlerian rhetoric about annexing (even if they aren't using that word) sovereign territory under the bogus excuse of "security", and he's doing it openly. If you even have a tertiary reading of history, you'll know the talking points about Czechoslovakia and Poland in the late 30's and I'm not being hyperbolic here.

Honestly, these people need to be taken out before something really, really, serious happens.

On salon.com article America university has hit Maga tipping point

Universitys have given in to trump policy's freedom of speech is in danger students are afraid to protest even immigrants with legal visa,s are afraid of being arrested by masked thugs and taken into a van

Big companies have bowed down to trump the justice department is being used to punish trumps enemys the system of checks balances that limit a president s power is breaking down

America is becoming more like Soviet Russia every day

Yes ordinary people can go to work and school and meet friends while 1000s of people lose their job the closure of Usaid will cost the lives of millions

Yes you can go on Irish tv and UK tv and criticize trump and Israel s war on Gaza but you may have a problem if you want to visit America in the future

Most companys are scrapping Dei policy's

I think his handling of Covid was a little more than harmless. If he kills as many foreigners in this term as he did american in his first we'll be in very shaky territory.

Indeed it is -.it’s also very similar to America of the late 50s and the witch hunt on “reds under the bed” and the McCarthy trials - so they have form in this area -it’s just that their ability or motivation to go this route has been dormant for a number of years.

it’s not the stock movement on any particular day MAN , it’s the trajectory along with what’s happening in the field , the decisions being made and their projected impact

Those CEO's that earn salaries that are multiple-hundred $$ multipliers of their employees, make that money from stock options. Low prices - low money for the CEO. How to fix? Lay 'em off.

The GOP need to go the way of the confederates and be disbanded after this, but the DNC need to never win an election ever again. They have been corrupted by money in politics. If America is to survive (and thats a big if) they need to reform the entire political system and their constitution to protect democracy from the effects of oligarchy and kleptocracy

    Chomsky(2017) on the Republican party

"Has there ever been an organisation in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organised human life on Earth?"

The US have been bombing defenseless countries without a declaration of war for so many decades already that he'd have no problem finding some psychos to promote in the military and the media will cover up his actions until its already too late

That's not accurate. Military personale can and have railed against unlawful orders such as in Vietnam in 1968 when many US soldiers refused to take part in the My Lai Massacre

Also Joint Chiefs took preemptive steps against Trump in the wake of the J6 riots to ensure no illegal Presidential orders would be followed.

Watching Vance rage at Denmark while on Greenland/Denmark territory and surrounded by US troops was both chilling and maddening.

The US does not NEED Greenland for SECURITY or didn’t until MAGA entered the scene because
the US is in NATO - the hitherto protectors of the North Atlantic and Greenland via Denmark is also in NATO.

Greenland has for years facilitated a large U.S. military base where one is seemingly needed to protect the North Atlantic. Vance then lands uninvited and does a good impression of an elephant in a china shop.

Condemning Denmark and speaking down to Greenlanders while visiting Geeenland uninvited is clueless unwise and dangerous. From what Ive read the Americans in that base have had good relationships with the locals. I fear the vicePresident may have changed that situation irrevocably.

Trump want resources - He needs fast money to prop up the most indebted country in the world. Putin wants land- European land. Working together, and sending their chosen mouth piece - the vice President - possible future president to spread the word is both baffling and scary.

Baffling because it makes no sense to anyone else and scary because the speaker believes his given script.

I think Greenland will eventually side with America and will enter into some form of partnership or ownership or whatever it will be called.

There’s dissatisfaction with Denmark - that is clear. So there’s a wish to have “independence” but that’s just not an option as the country cannot in any way stand on its own two feet.

It will need either the support of the EU or America .

But if America, then that’s the end of Greenland as a habitable country - America will rape the land of natural resources and leave behind a toxic mess - the current inhabitants will likely be moved to USA, given a few million dollars each -likely leading to alcoholism drug abuse and depression . This will not end at all well.

He doesn’t want resources either, a danish (far right of all things) politician pointed out that there’s nothing stopping US companies investing in Greenland they don’t because it’s so **** remote and harsh

What he wants is a legacy of “growing the US” because everything else he touches turns to turd 💩

Yep I don't think Trump et al want to annex Greenland at all. I think they want more bases/ports all around Greenland and exclusive mining rights. They want to ensure the Chinese and Russians don't get access to more rare minerals and control on the Arctic sea channels which are of growing importance.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,380 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

Honestly that's a load of hysterical nonsense. Why do all your posts end with worst case scenarios?

Yes yes Greenland will be uninhabitable in 4 years. People have clung to life there for many centuries and they will continue to do so.

If USA then Drugs, Drink, Depression....bloody hell.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

I dunno. Im still operating under the theory that Donnie saw a Mercator Projection map of North America, and being the unatthentive dimwit that he is; assumes that getting Greenland would triple the territory of the US.

    IMG_0770.jpeg

In reality, Greenland is about 1/10th the size of what is suggested on this projection. Canada is similarly exaggerated.

The Native Americans know something about that. Early settlers repeatedly said - we absolutely need that bit of land, pay off the natives, move them on.

Maybe so. They should tell Trump it's 80% sheet ice. Up to 3km thick. Not a great place for links courses.

    You've been watching Yellowstone 😉

The Duttons got decent grazing there.

This is assuming that Greenland stays as a Danish territory. The previous Greenlandic prime minister had said that an independence referendum could happen this year in tandem with their general election just gone. That didn't happen, but that does make it seem like it's entirely possible to hold one within the next couple of years. It's certainly something the Americans will try to agitate for, anyway. Trump's administration don't really do subtle charm - few of his cabinet are really likeable - but they can use the much more blunt approach of going, "We'll give every family on this island 10 million dollars and set you all up for life if you vote yes to independence and then vote to become our territory."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,639 ✭✭✭Rawr

Exactly this. The fate of Native Americans is something that needs to be read before assuming that Donnies America would do no less to the Greenlandic Inuits. Donnie supporters might discount any kind of claim that transplanted Greenlanders would fall into substance abuse if moved to the mainland US, but that is exactly what has happened to aboriginal peoples who have been forcibly moved by the modern US government. Its a rather consistent pattern, in particular within Resverations or Native American tribal lands.

The Greenlanders might not like Denmark all that much, but the modern Danes at very least attempt to maintain Danish 1st-world standards on Greenland. They do still struggle with unemployment and depression there with locals, but at very least the Danish welfare state is in place to attempt to help with that. This compares to a US Administration who would characterise the Danes efforts as «Maxist Left-wing extreemism», and subsquently would do away with Universal healthcare and most of the social programs that have now.

Thats probably part of why noone there wanted to meed Usha Vance, or that wierd little Hill-Troll she married.

    One thing at a time.

Disbanding the GOP won't happen without another civil war.

The two party system is too embedded at every level in US politics to be replaced any time soon.

There are decent Republicans, now is their hour.

Every day they get up to another mess on their doorstep.

How long can they pretend this is normal.

Your post is the only thing that’s “hysterical” - there’s nothing in my post that isn’t factual - certain mineral mining in Greenland stopped due to risk of water pollution - America has already said they want to drill there - ergo, if America gets Greenland they’ll drill - ergo pollution on a vast scale.

Give an ethnic community - indeed any community -whose not used to wealth and a ton of money - sit back and watch .

It’s not rocket science- and it’s certainly not hysteria
